Super dark in here. And if its not packed it smells odd because of all the wood. I love their chalk menu--but put the prices on it! It did help the bartenders tip to tell me that I ordered one of the most expensive beers and if I wanted a different one instead. They let you try shots of beer too, to see if you like it, which is great because they have SO MANY types.

Apparently this place DOES NOT allow dogs anymore which is a huge bummer. I guess the city came down on them. Otherwise its just your typical little divey pub. Im glad they sell sour beers and actually know what they are unlike a few other bars in Boston that seem to think sour beer must mean youve never had beer before and want a blue moon. lol

Advertised dog friendly on their website. Theyre not dog friendly. Disappointing to build a plan around that and then have it fall through once youre there. The Bartender was pretty snide about their no dog policy despite acknowledging their website was misleading, he really didnt seem to care. Otherwise Ive always enjoyed this pub.

Everything a neighborhood bar should be. This is a cozy and friendly place. The bartender seemed to know many people coming in. There is a fish tank above the bar and a bookcase above the hearth. The night I was there, a bunch of folks had crammed around the front table to play Irish music.

A true Irish pub (traditional seisiún every Saturday) -- no TVs, no food service, no credit cards … just beer, and lots of it! The friendly crowd is buoyed by good music and colorful locals. Well-mannered dogs are welcome. Beware of the rank, moldy smell and creaky/dirty floor-boards.

I went when it was late at night, so I couldnt see the decor much. The atmosphere though is fun. When I went there were a bunch of people jamming out to folk music. Im not the biggest fan of folk, but this was one of most fun places I had been in a while.

A worker there was spewing racist comments about latinos infront of the whole bar, no manager, worker or anyone told him not to or punished him. It really Upset my friends, and because of this intolerance we wont be going back there.

Having travelled to Boston from Scotland, I can vouch that there is no such thing as pubs in America, they do not exist. You need British or Irish folk in a drinking establishment for it to be a pub.

Divey, dark, not too dirty, wood interiors, AND they have Ginger Libation. You can also bring food in (empanadas next door from Pikalo are a great choice). Cash only but consider me a fan!

The real deal, Boston Irish Pub. Great selection of local beers as well as others. Go on Saturday evening for the Celtic music play-in. Great atmosphere. Cash only.

Very local, almost always approaching full, great beer selection. No food but they let you bring in whatever you like from the surrounding food options

Best damn bar in Boston. Well curated beer list, Irish session on the weekends, friendly dedicated locals, no "real" tv, and great bartenders.

I was only there once but the people who go there are so friendly. The place is small but its the people that make the place.

Favorite bar in JP. Nice and dark, as a pub should be, and quality beers on tap. Plenty of space while still intimate.

This is a nice, casual Irish pub. The crowd seemed to be mostly in their 20s to 30s when I was there.
