First off, I would like to say that I am from out of town and had a maryland ID. I do not go to any of the schools in boston either. To be honest i could pass for a 16 year old girl, but Im 21, a college graduate, and getting ready to attend law school in the fall. When i arrived I met with the bouncer. I gave him my ID he inspected it for about 30 second and then told me he has seen many fakes like this before. I did get a little angry with him considering it is a real ID and I had just gotten it renewed in December. My friends and i tell him to go scan it and he says he will. As im watching him walk away thinking this was all a joke and saying that it had to be out loud, he then said he would take my ID. I told him to go ahead and take it. I would call the cops if he did. He then gave me back my ID and told me i could leave. However, i think he was just giving me a hard time because he wasnt suppose to give me my ID back anyway. By law he is suppose to take it. I didnt file a complaint because i was with other people. Therefore, this place sucks.

I will preface this review with the statement: you get what you pay for. Beacon Hill Pub was not only my neighborhood bar but my favorite bar. It is as divey as it gets and quite cheap for Bostons standards--but that is its charm. Go in there on any night and you are certain to find drinks for four dollars, cash only tabs, an adult kickball team and a tipsy regular chatting with the bartender. I got to know the bartender, Carrie, well the year I lived near BHP and she was always welcoming and friendly. The staff remembers your name and chats even on the busiest nights. This place has classic dive bar games as well as music requests that work about half the time. It is a great place to get a cheap drink and hang with friends.

This is one of the last dive bars left in Boston proper and is definitely worth going to with a group. It even comes with the loud music and sticky floors. The bartenders are friendly and the beer selection is pretty good. They also have a couple cheap draft beers. To the side youll find a couple basketball hoop games and buck hunter. The bar is pretty small though so as it starts to get busy it can get uncomfortable quick. If you are over 26, I would steer clear after about 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays unless you like waiting 30 minutes to get a drink and enjoy people watching as you will see the younger crowd come in dressed to the 9s for a night out which is definitely funny to see in a dive bar.

Boston-area students (mostly BC) will enjoy the familiar janky atmosphere of *THE* Beacon Hill Pub (Mary Annes, anyone?). Who (really) cares if its the ugliest, most disgusting place (at least on this side of the planet) that happens to smell like a dumpster? Sometimes wild, sometimes mellow, but always a bumpin jukebox and -unbelievably- cheap drinks. Its excellent in all the worst ways. Get over yourself and be ready for a good, drunk time. Highlights: Big Buck Hunter, Darts, Foosball, Hoop Fever.

I dont believe Beacon Hill Pub is a real place. Not that I dont think it exists—my pounding headache at this very moment will attest that it does—but that its not a real place made of materials from this universe. Rather like the Room of Requirement in the Harry Potter series, Beacon Hill Pub is all of your worst ideas in physical form; the bad decision made corporeal. You will no doubt have a great time while there, and a terrible time thereafter.

My friend was denied entry solely based on his sexual orientation. He was of age, but the bouncer made homophobic remarks to him. After sticking up for my friend, he told me that he had fornicated with my mother, which is false, as my mother has lived in another country for the past 15 years. Unless you are looking for the worst bar experience possible in the greater Boston area, do not attend this establishment!!

Cash Only - great dive bar. Came in Saturday afternoon and played some pop-a-shot and some foosball. It was hard to get the bartenders attention since there were a fair amount of people at the bar. He took our order but then forgot it and took 2 other peoples drinks before ours. He did give us around though since we did wait. Chill dive bar and its pretty cheap for being in Beacon Hill

When I go to a bar I expect them to be capable of serving a decent beer - especially ones that are brewed in the area. I ordered 2 different ales and both of them were skunked and just terrible. The music I believe came from an electronic DJ you paid to use and there were large periods of silence when nothing was selected.

One of the best hidden gems in the city. This place looks like a closed up building on the outside, but houses one of the best dive bars around. The drinks flow cheap, and no matter the time of day theres always a crowd. They also have two bars which helps with the weekend crowds.

This place accomplishes what it need to. Cheap beer, a place to gather with friends during the week and a place to gather with strangers on a weekend. The only reason I took off a star is because of the basketball game was broken which hurts the gathering during the week.

This is the diviest dive bar thats ever dived. Its so classic Boston townie -- there are games in the back and its basically just a local spot to get beers and meet bros. The lights are always on and they have cheap drinks. Come here to end the sloppiest of Saturdays.

this is quite possibly the diveyest, dingiest bar in the boston area, and thats why we love it! its also easy on the wallet... ganset tall boys are the standard, and theyve got arcade games in the back. the people watching is amazing.

i would classify this on the higher end of dive bars. there are more than a few arcade games to entertain yourself with like big buck hunter and a free-throw shooting thing. overall a fun place to go to with a group of friends.

If you dont like divey bars, then dont go there, but if you do, just go enjoy a nice cold cheap bottled beer in Bostons fanciest neighborhood! :-) Safety is absolutely not an issue here, in case you are concerned.

Bros, loud music, no windows, sticky floors. All the things I love to hate but for some reason I love this bar. The bartenders are great and they have hoop fever, buck hunter and all sorts of games. Cash only!

Really chill place to grab a couple drinks to hang out. Games there to play like deer Hunter and a 2 player basketball shootout. Only thing that its cash only. Good music and can play anything on the jukebox!

Really liked this relaxed bar. Drinks were the cheapest ($3) we found on our trip and barman made us feel welcome. Definitely recommend to get that stereotypical American bar feeling!

If youre looking for a true dive bar thats randomly awesome. You found one! Few still exist in Boston and this is one bar staying true to current dive vibes.
