Sweet cafe and bistro with the charm of Italy We decided to walk over to this charming little spot in the Auburndale section of Newton while visiting our son and his friend. Theres ample street parking and a lot across from the restaurant. Charming first appearance outside with three wrought iron tables and chairs with umbrellas that were nicely flanked with pots of lovely flowering plants. Once inside to the left and in front of you is the bar area with a few tables at the window and perhaps 6 seats at the bar. To the right and straight back is the seating for approximately 30. Brick walls, nice lighting and a very friendly atmosphere. It reminded me of a lovely cafe in Siena. The boys opted for burgers, Turkey w lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and homemade cranberry relish and The Portabella (Vegetarian) with Grilled portabella, grilled vegetables, Brie cheese. You can request gluten free bread. It was casual plating served with a bag of chips and a zesty garlic pickle. My Mediterranean Salad was fabulous and I mean it! Ice cold and crisp romaine lettuce with a generous scoop of hummus, tabbouleh, artichoke hearts, olives, yalanchi grape leaves, eggplant salad, roasted red peppers, wedges of lemon and yummy grilled wheat syrian bread. I will definitely order this again! Our waitress was very kind and efficient. We happened to be there on the night of the bartender Anthonys birthday! So it was cake for everyone! Such a nice crowd too. They have a case at the end of the bar with all their delightful homemade desserts - cannolis, tira mi su, cakes, cookies! Next time well have to try a few. Their dinner menu changes nightly so go with an adventurous palate and prepare to be delighted. Looking forward to the next mouth watering meal...

What a terrific find!!!! Tonight I had graham cracker crusted salmon!!! It was total heaven- each bite melted in my mouth! It was served with potato and spinach, both perfect. The portion was good! The service great! And the price affordable- $14.95. I topped it off with a coffee and the some amazing light rum cake the chef is famous for. I am in town for four nights and I hope to make it back at least one more time! Thank you Bocca Bella for a fantastic food evening! I just had to update my review! If I could I would add more stars! I have eaten here now the past three nights- the first one was reflected in the review above. Last night I had a minestrone and caprese salad. Best I have ever had- the salad was more than a caprese that I am used to- there were artichokes, olives, roasted potato and then the traditional tomato, basil and mozzarella on a bed of greens with a sweet beautiful balsamic reduction! It was so much I had the remainder for lunch today- so good. Then tonight another amazing filet of salmon stuffed tonight with the most amazing goodness! Paired with mash potatoes like youd make at home if you had time and then chard and a sweet yellow squash! I am taking a break before I dive into the cannoli! You owe it to yourself- if you are anywhere near Boston- get yourself to Bocca Bella! I head back to California on Friday, but be sure the restaurant will be in my heart forever!

I had an appointment nearby and had an hour to eat dinner. Bocca Bella is a lovely little bistro with a full bar. There is enough diversity in the menu that almost anyone would be able to find something they like. I opted for a turkey sandwich, which I think was called a gobbler. A definite 2-handed/5 star sandwich filled with more turkey than expected and cranberry sauce, pepper jack cheese and leafy greens served on a rustic bread. A great combination of sweet and sharp. It was served with a pickle wedge and a bag of chips. Perfect for a super-hot day in May. I ordered a soft drink from the bar. Total tab was $12.97. Many of the entrees are significantly more pricey, but the food is fresh. I ranked it only 4 stars because the server was not the least bit friendly. I didnt see her smile once. Maybe she was having a bad day.

Excellent, intimate Italian restaurant. I had the Chicken Shoemaker and my date had the Bolognese. Both were exceptional. The chicken was thin, tender and delicious. The Bolognese was rich, tasty and served over al dente pasta - perfect. Also really liked the toasted ravioli appetizer. Plenty for two people. Great bar, good dessert and friendly service. Will go back.

Great meal with really nice touches. However, our server was in need of some re-training. She brought our pre-dinner soup and salad AFTER our entrees...and seemed confused that we expected them before our meal. Also she forgot refill glasses and didnt remove dirty plates till we requested her to do so.

The food here is consistently good, and the owners are incredibly nice. In the years they have been operating in Auburndale, they have become much loved by the local community. Prices are set fairly for the dishes they provide. Seating is a bit tight however, so reservations are advised, IMO.

Great lunch menu for great value, but the wait staff is always lacking. Service is often slow, even when the cafe doesnt appear all that busy. Also, on two separate occasions our server made mistakes on our orders. I keep coming back because of the food, not the service!

Bocas Bella has great food at excellent prices. Its delicious value. I had the tortellini in meat sauce and my husband had the small steak lunch special. The total was $20. They also have great desserts and lattes and cappuccinos.

Reasonably good Italian-American food. I lived in Italy for 15 years so maybe Im spoiled, but its not really authentic

The food was good, but not memorable. The service was good, but we had to prompt for how the steak was cooked.
