Its a decent coffee shop that also offers some simple sandwiches, bread stuffs, soups, etc... It has a nice view of the Waltham Commons which and just a minute from the commuter line stop. There is ice-cream available I believe on the other side of the store however, I have never ventured around the other side for it. The coffee is good although it is a tad expensive compared to the national chains however, its all ground there fresh so it certainly beats a number of places just on that point. The food is OK fairly cheap but, nothing that is particularly exciting or impressive. The staff varies depending on who you get and the level of activity. The place is not well setup for a high-volume of customers like a chain would be, i.e. there are no pre-made sandwiches to microwave in 10 seconds. So at times you might have a bit of a wait on your hands. As for the wifi its free and open and, I honestly have never seen an issue with it. I have been there on quiet and busy days and never noticed any appreciable impact on my laptop or cell phone. Overall, I would say this is a great place to to sit for a relaxing bit of coffee and perhaps a bite to eat. If you are not in a hurry and looking to sit down for a spell and unwind, its a great spot. If you are in a rush and cant conceive of why the staff might need time to do things... just go to a chain coffee shop.

Dont like the coffee. Dont like the price (you thought Starbucks is bad?) The service varies. Most of the time I feel they are trying and I appreciate it a lot, but , some, sometimes, just get busy talking to people - I guess it is kind of social for some neighbors, and would be sloppy with the service. Got a coffee stain from a bottom of a cup. The pastry is nice - no sensation but nice. Internet I didnt try. Hours ($@*s. I agree, for a town with a university, youd think someone would pick the challenge and wont regret it.

I personally dislike mainstream shops when it comes to restaurants and cafes, and especially Starbucks. So when I found this one, and as soon as I went in, I felt at home and felt good about this city. The coffee and pastry are nothing special (but good), and atmosphere was very relaxing. No loud music, people are not loud either. As long as I live in Waltham, I will go there and spend my quiet time on weekend mornings.

I like to come here to do some work and drink coffee. I really like the lattes and occasionally a nice iced coffee. Id give this place great reviews if it wasnt for the terrible server who works here. Young guy with facial piercing and tattoos which I dont mind but TERRIBLE ATTITUDE and WORST SERVICES makes me never want to come here again. He is very rude and treats customers with no respect

The Cafe on the Common is ludicrously overpriced. And Waltham isnt even a fancy town! I have no idea what they think justifies charging $4.50 for a latte. Furthermore, EVERY time I have gone in there they have gotten my order wrong and taken ages. The high prices make the poor service doubly aggravating. Oh, and the coffee isnt even very good. (The pecan pie is tasty, though.)

I come here for breakfast nearly every day. The food and coffee are excellent, the staff are very friendly and well-informed and the atmosphere is extremely comfortable and relaxing. They get bagels, rolls and croissants from Iggys Bakery and make a lot of their own baked goods (scones, cookies, etc.). Lunches are also amazing, especially the burritos!

Nice space. Sunny. Perhaps a bit too warm in the sun. Good location Decent pastries. The espresso, however, is over extracted and utterly unpalatable. Its one of those myriad independent coffeeshops that seems to think that the complexity that is a four group semi auto machine doesnt need expertise to run. They are wrong.

The food is delicious, especially their burritos! They got sugar free vanilla syrup now, which makes their drinks taste even better than before :) And finally, the cafe itself is really cute and has an atmosphere that is unlike any chain cafe. I recommend this place :)

This place is really great. It has plenty of space and the coffee is splendid. The cappuccino is one the best you can find in Boston (its as good as if not better than Laroma on Newbury street). The food is very good as well. Best of all, free internet :)

I sometimes grouse that Waltham is the "Land That Starbucks Forgot", but having a local, independent shop like Cafe on the Common in the community is really the better option. It manages to do all that Starbucks does, and more.

This was a great find for a quick bite to eat while we were visiting local colleges. Salads and sandwiches and different kinds of pastry snacks and delicious coffee! Really friendly service also.

Best spot in Waltham for a coffee but atmosphere always feels like it could be a little warmer. Perhaps the rooms are just too cavernous? Im not sure, either way, good independent coffee place.

Only had the food once (burrito), which was not very good, but the coffee is yummy, and they are dog friendly =) A nice place to grab a coffee and read/work.

The atmosphere could be better, and the prices could be cheaper. But its the only cafe in the area so whats one to do. The service was friendly though.

Shop is cute with lots of seating and friendly staff! I only had a caramel latte (so I cant speak to the food), which was unfortunately average.

I swing by every few weeks and have never had a complaint. Staff is great and the baked goods are all either local or made in house.
