I just came back from France and we rarely had any authentic French cuisine while we were there because they were catering to foreign visitors and we couldnt escape the tourist traps. We got back this week and I decided to look up French restaurants on Google and I was surprised to find there was a French cafe right here in Sykesville. I went there this morning and I firmly believe I have finally experienced authentic French cuisine. I actually had to come home to experience French cooking! This place is absolutely fabulous! TRES BIEN!! The crepes we had were absolutely delicious! The coffee was great as well. What a gem of a find. Ill be regular from now on. I also see that it is extremely popular with other Sykesvillians because it was packed. The atmosphere is quaint and warm. Wonderful experience. The only negative was waiting for the order. Many of us were mulling about bumping into each other and feeling awkward. Not sure if anything can be done about that because its just bound to get busier as word gets out about this gem of a place. Perhaps being assigned a number and staff can bring out the order when its ready. I only hope Helene will consider opening the place for dinner at least on weekends with other kinds of French delicacies. If she does that Im sure that reservations will have to be placed weeks in advance.

This is the very best place for food and coffee/espresso! I have been going to The French Twist almost since it opened, and everything about the place is amazing. It has a comfortable small-town feel, unlike the huge chains, so you get great personalized service. After you go there a few times, they know your name, what you like to order, and how you like it made. They have crepes made with flour dough or buckwheat, and savory (galettes) or sweet crepes. All of them are awesome, so you cannot go wrong. The espresso is amazingly deep and flavorful, and it is the best Ive had. You definitely wont want to go back to the big chains! And the owner and her staff are all awesome people.

We have been there a few times and really enjoyed it. However we decided to dine there on Sunday and was very dissapointed. When we walked in we waited 5 min and not one person took our order there was 5 people working. There was really no direction. I guess I am being to critical but, 5 people and not 1 person acknowledged us. It was super hot in there and not very pleasant. I suppose I could overlook these thing but at $9 a crepe I expect more. I want business like this to succeed but with no employee direction it will be doomed. I love the fact its very cute and quaint and a important part of amicana. Please realize I love it there but direction is needed.

The Twist has really established itself as the local hangout for comfortable conversation and good food. I love the lattes and my son knows all the crepes. Whenever we come the second floor has several other tables of folks enjoying their time with each other. Having lived in Sykesville for 20 years this is fabulous. Its not loud and theres no rush to push you out. It is true that if you come on Sunday market days the wait is going to be long and its not the same experience. I dont understand the other reviews about prices as they are similar to those at huge chains like panerra... Except all local. But if that is your worry its not the place for you.

Lovely place. Got a savory "French" crepe with fresh cracked pepper and iced chai. So delectable. Had to go back and try the sweet Nutella and banana... So good! The 2nd crepe was a bit more "done" and cracked when I went to cut it. They were made by different people though. Best part, was while I was enjoying my meal a mistake was made for another customer and the barista came out to personally apologize for the miscommunication, was in the process of fixing their new drinks and asked if there was anything else she could do to make their experience better. Kudos to a great staff that take pride in the food, reputation and guest experience.

We went to French Twist Café for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The place was exactly as described. It was informal, with a menu consisting mostly of crêpes, plus a few salads and pastries. We had the ham and cheese crêpes and also La Française, all of which were excellent. They were all made to order on a big stone, cooked until the edges just started to turn cruncy, folded, and handed to us hot in foil so that we could eat them there at a table or take them away. We chose to eat there. After the crêpes, we had coffee, which was similarly excellent. The price is very reasonable for what you get and we will certainly be going back!

I ordered a crepe with some add ons and the total came out to be waayyy more than I thought (basically double the original price), which they did not have listed prices for on the menu nor did anyone tell me what the extra charges were for before I paid. Then they got my order wrong and had to hastily make me a new one that was somewhat sloppily put together. The place is ok, just could work on customer service a bit (i.e. professionalism).

Everything is extremely overpriced to the point where its almost not worth it. The coffee is mediocre at best, and the sizes are absolutely abysmal. However the staff are extremely polite. I spilled a drink and they got me a new one. I will be returning thanks to the friendliness of the staff. (Update): Ive been informed about larger sizes and more options by the owner. I appreciate the time taken by the owner to respond to reviews.

Love the outside porch and the downtown Sykesville atmosphere is lovely. My daughter and I both enjoyed our crepes but agreed mine was better. I had the La Française with egg, ham and swiss cheese and it was delicious. My daughter had the Crêpe à la canelle et au sucre (cinnamon sugar) and it was dry...not very good. Our coffees were made perfectly with a beautiful design on top. Will definitely be back!

Very friendly staff and lovely cozy feel to the upstairs seating area. I could definitely see idling away the afternoon here with a drink and my laptop. The Maryland crepe was tasty. My only negative is that I like my crepe with a bit of crispness. Perhaps the crepe ingredients took away from that. Would definitely come back if I were in the area.

The food was excellent, the selection was wide, and the building/facilities clean. However, the cashier and kitchen staff all made it seem like it was their first day at work. They were unpolished and seemed like they were rushing through and not being complete. But they were friendly so that made up for it.

Staff is friendly. Food is nice. Coffee is decent. The place is done up with lots of French items. They even have books in French. The are games too play while there. Lots of seating upstairs and outside seating. You can watch them make your crepes while you wait. They do accept android and apple pay.
