This was the worst dining experience of my life. I was meeting with a couple a friends here, and our intention was to order South Indian food. As we waited, we snacked on some papads, which we discovered had hair in it. Then we found out that there was no South food. So most of us ended up ordering just appetizers. The owner actually approached us, and insulted us for not ordering more. He said he wasnt running a snack joint, he was running a business. We were a group of college kids, so we really didnt know how to respond to this verbal assault. So, we ended up paying $10 for the water and papads and went to the pizzeria across the street. Did I mention that there was hair in our food? We didnt get an apology, but rather an insult for not getting more overpriced food. I was very shocked and left fuming. Terrible place to eat. Restaurants should be a place where people can enjoy their meals with their companions, not a place where the customers are last on the priority list. Do NOT come here.

Im surprised by some of the negative comments about this restaurant as we had a great experience, not just once but on many occasions. Were Indians who cook very well and also entertain at home, and know our cuisine quite well. Weve enjoyed their extensive lunch buffet and find it to be fresh, tasty, and extensive for the fairly inexpensive price they charge. We have hosted two dinner parties at our home that was catered by Akbar Palace with more than 100 persons and each time the food and service provided was excellent. Our dinner guests, friends, and family (who are also foodies, with many good cooks among us) have really enjoyed these catered occasions, where Akbar Palace brought a tandoor oven and other equipment to our home, made and served fresh grilled meats, fresh fried fish, vegetables, variety of naans, etc. Their service staff were efficient and gracious, and it was a pleasure working with the owner to develop the menu and much more. Kudos to him and his fine establishment!

I first saw an ad for Akbar Palace in the local coupon flier and I was so excited to find an Indian restaurant nearby. My boyfriend had never eaten Indian food before, and can have issue with spicy food, so we went to the lunch buffet. It was amazing! And my boyfriend loved it too! The selection changes each day, and it is soooo good. The chicken curry is so flavorful, with some spice that kicks in later (waiter always at our table refilling my boyfriends water cup). And the channa masala and some of the lentil dishes are tasty! They also have deep fried cabbage, which might be my favorite way to eat cabbage now (although unhealthy!). And to finish it off, the kheer is so creamy and light, with slivers of almonds mixed around. I love this restaurant! The staff is also very friendly. The power went out the other day, and the owner came in and talked to all the patrons that were there; really funny guy!

Yesterday we visited Akbar Palace in Randallstown. It was a very good experience. The ambience was nice and cozy with Indian motives all around. The food was very flavorful and introduced us to some dishes we never tried before (like goat meat) but were very impressed with. The service was very warm, attentive and professional, but the most wonderful impression we’ve got was the owner himself who paid a very close attention to us explaining the flavors of the dishes and connecting it to a very interesting conversation about Indian culture. Before that visit we were not such big fans of this cuisine. Now we are, and sure will be back for more of these wonderful dishes. We recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves spicy flavorful food, quiet nice atmosphere and great service.

My husband and I have taken carry-out and dined at this place a few times before, but today was our first time trying the lunch buffet. We were once again pleasantly surprised to have the same quality of food, for less than $10 per person (didnt order any extra drinks). Theyre very good at offering plates that are to the liking of the client, when it comes to how spicy you want your meal. Just have to precise it when placing an order. I personally order an extra serving of pullau rice for leftovers when having takeout. The servings are big enough for someone with an average appetite to share it or have a full meal the next day. I havent been as satisfied eating indian food anywhere else around Owings Mills, this is the best place for this type of food.

Akbar palace- one of the worst places I have been to eat so far. The management has poor skills of customer service. The owner puts in vouchers in Groupon which is misleading. 4 entrees necessary if you taken dine in for 4 Groupon. The owner is disrespectful toward customers especially if its a woman. The food quality and service is as bad as the managers attitude towards customers. He is racist and sexist which is well elicited by his way of talking to customers who are especially women. Do not come here. Customer service is the last thing in this place. This people have opened a restaurant to rip off people.

There are a number of things I like about Akbar Palace, not the least of which it is locally owned and operated by a family from India...this means one thing - they pay very close attention to details and they know whats on the menu...so if youre not familiar with Indian food, no problem...just ask to see the owner, C.K., he will spend as much time with you as necessary...you wont miss him by the way, he is usually in the dining room talking to guests...they have a great luncheon buffet weekdays, a vast array of choices and very reasonably priced...Pablo is the manager and he will take good care of you...

Me and my partner usually eat at 3-4 different restaurants per weekend. This place was great! The place was spotless even the carpets were clean, and the service was excellent. It seemed everyone working there was part of making our dining experience great. The owner Manager also went around and spoke with everyone at each table while we were there. That is exactly how it should be. For 40 dollar for 2 entrees, bread and appetizers, the price was right as well, more than enough to eat. The location is a bit strange but it was one of the best eats we have had in a while. Thanks.

I brought my wife in to have lunch with me on Thursday. The food was simply AWESOME. A very nice selection of dishes all fresh and hot. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. The very gracious owners stopped by to see how we doing. It felt more like having lunch at a friends house. Very warm and inviting experience. We will be going back soon and often! I also found out they have a cooking class the first Sunday of the month. Something that I would like to attend.

LOVE. Ive been to quite a few Indian restaurants and this one is my favorite. The food is amazing. Theres a large selection for good prices. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The display is great too, the dishes with sauces (as in Chicken Tikka Marsala) are served in a copper bowl serving dish with a tea light lit under to keep your food warm. So far Ive taken 5 people there on separate occasions and each loved it. Highly recommend.
