I am from Baltimore and my father lives in North East so we have tried a new restaurant every week for the last several months and I am sad to say this is the bottom of the list so far. The hostess was very friendly so that was a plus. First the seating was very tight and it was not busy like that. We sat at just a two person table and a few minutes later they put a couple out on a first date right behind us but my chair touched the mans chair and we heard the entire conversation because we were inches from them not even feet. Next complaint is the small selection of food. For a restaurant that is called STEAK in it I would think there would be more selection of steak on the menu like Texas Roadhouse but a better quality and that is not the case. Next would be my crab dip, maybe because I am born and bred in Baltimore I know what quality crab meat is and get crab dip at every restaurant I try or cream of crab soup. This crab dip was the highest price of any place I have ordered from and thats ok if the quality is there which its not. With a place that charges so much you would expect lump crab meat but this was cheap claw meat and very little meat and more cheese and I think it was spinach used as the filler but I will say the portion was big just on this item. Next complaint is the food in general. The waitress said she was new to the area but very nice and seemed scared of the owners or managers. The menu does not say on the steak what you get for 40-70$ so I asked and she said the vegetable of the day and steamed potatoes. I asked what the vegetable of the day was and she stated it was some sort of steamed peppers which neither of us can eat since it was unknown what kind of peppers. I asked if we could substitute for another vegetable and she was shaking saying, oh no no no the owners dont like that or allow that here and are very strict with their food and it comes with what it does no changing ANYTHING. For the price I thought it was the craziest thing I have ever heard that I couldnt get corn, green beans, or Brussels which were on the menu. She wouldnt even ask if we could so I was thinking there is no way I am going to pay 40$ for a small steak that I could have thrown on the grill and the sides are important to me. I ended up getting a pit beef sandwich which I was able to add cheese to that and other items so go figure! My father did get the steak and it came with two baby potatoes and he left still kinda hungry and for him to pay 40$ for two potatoes and a small steak is mind blowing in this area as its not L.A. Or N.Y. If your interested in sushi than your selection is endless, if your ok with paying for steak and thats your only concern than ok. I actually am writing this 4 hours after eating and feel sick to my stomach now as it wasnt even real pit beef but roast beef. I dont think I would ever give this place a try again unless I was a drinker or deep into sushi. I am not sure how they have such a crowd with so many other places around. I wouldnt recommend this place unless your wealthy and okay with tossing money for food

Second and Last Time! I went to Steak and Main with really high expectations. I went on a Monday for lunch and had a burger. It was good albeit overcooked. I ordered a medium rare temperature and it was well done. It was still good even though the bread was not what you expect of a place that touts having some of the best steaks in the country. Wings were pretty low quality and the ranch tasted like they got a gallon of it at the dollar store. Shame on me, I still gave them a second chance and went there the next day for dinner. I had a cup of the Parmesan Cajun Shrimp soup which was very good, a bit spicy though. I ordered the fried brussels sprouts which according to the server was supposed to be one of their best appetizers. Not sure if what they brought was representative of what the dish is supposed to be but it was very bland. I didnt eat it and had the server take it away (they still charged me $10). I ordered an 8 oz filet medium rare and they brought it overcooked, medium well almost well done. I accepted it, even thought I shouldnt have. I was utterly disappointed. I have been to literally dozens of joints that have been featured on TV and most of them live up to the hype. This is so far the biggest disappointment so far. Their steak wasnt any better than what a mainstream restaurant would bring out. For any steakhouse was mediocre at best. For a steakhouse that boasts about being one of the best in the country is purely BS. The potatoes of the day were red bliss with Rosemary which were pretty darn good! They offer no substitution on their dishes. I guess if I was a paying customer it would then make sense for then to allow this. ??? Summing up, mediocre service, mediocre food, barely OK steaks, no substitutions allowed, all at a ridiculous price out in the boonies. The term "tourist trap" comes to mind. Never again!

Walked in on a Wednesday, the place is maybe a quarter full. Had a coffee with me and a young lady came up and said she had to take that from me, no outside food or beverage. Okay, understandable. My real issues are that this place has more rules than a second grade classroom. "No splitting checks", "no substitutions, no exceptions", "no modifications", "20% gratuity may apply" and more. Got the filet, was very standard, not much to it. A decent home cook could have prepared the same. Ordered a side of spinach, and one small bite tasted like it has my monthly allotment of sodium in it. My guest tried it and felt the same way. Two small bites were taken total and I told the waitress the issue. She apologized and took it away. I paid the bill foolishly without looking at it first. I saw they still charged me for the spinach that couldnt be eaten due to possible instant heart attack from sodium. Instead of complaining since I had already paid, I figured a negative online review of my real life experience would go much further. The owner needs to reevaluate their policies. News flash- restaurants that say "no substitutions" are top notch, fine dining establishments (even most of those ones still allow substitutions, this isnt North Korea). You have a long ways to go. And dont take someones coffee on a weeknight when youre slow, just be happy you have any patrons.

I heard about this place from a friend at work so I thought unwound give it a try. I took my mother and family there for my moms birthday because I was told that this place would not disappoint. Well needless to say it definitely disappointed us. I came mainly for this supposed " #1 steak" but it was sub par at best, the mushrooms and onions on the steak tasted like it came from a can and they dumped it in last minute instead of cooking them fresh with the meal. Same with the veggies and potatos. They definitely seemed as if they are made and kept under a warmer and just thrown on a plate and served. Not to mention the price absolutely does not match the quality or what it is hyped up to be. It is a poor attempt to be an upscale restaurant with terrible execution. Its almost like applebees is wearing a costume. Nice experience. But will never be going her again it just is not worth it to pay as much as I did only to get food that does not come close. And a suggestion to the restaurant. Dont hype yourself up so much about your #1 steak achievement because it will disappoint many. Like it did the 8 of us that went.
