Had lunch with a friend at the Chesapeake Inn Restaurant on Monday, 8/24/15. We both had salmon, which was outstanding! Very flavorful and a nice-size portion. My friend had her salmon to top a mesclun salad, which she described as very good. The bread on the table was warm and crunchy (5 stars for bread). Service was a bit slow, but we were not in a hurry. Waitress was not knowledgeable about wines but allowed tastings of the wines by the glass. The wine we selected was very good. Outside temperature was hot and muggy, so we chose to eat inside (one floor above the marina and outside dining deck). Our window seats made the view spectacular. Very relaxing atmosphere. Later, we returned to the bar adjacent to the marina. My friend and I enjoyed very refreshing sangria drinks (with two different white wines). Excellent. Our female bartender--who gave us her name and asked for ours--was knowledgeable and friendly. Boaters came and left, some with their dogs. All in all, it was a wonderful belated birthday celebration for my friend.

Ive been to the Chesapeake Inn a couple times. A few years ago, the food was decent, but in recent years, theyve removed the only good foods from the menu. The food ordered at one table all comes out at different times. One of my friends got sick after eating the crab pizza. Parking is all valet, so get ready to pay up to park your car. Pray they dont do anything too hasty with your vehicle when they drive off! The restaurant has weddings too. I dont know why anyone would want to have a wedding in the restaurant at the same time people are getting drunk downstairs. Management is not receptive to resolving complaints. Are customers not suppose to tell management (thats you, BJ) when they are completely dissatisfied with their experiences? If you want a nice environment with great food on the water, try the Nauti-Goose in North East instead!

For a place that has been around awhile, you would think that the price you are paying for the food, it would be at least 3 stars. Not even close. I have had a better steak at ruby Tuesday than the truck tire I ate here. The service is horrendous. I suggest you bring your own drink as a backup between the half hour wait to get a refill especially when the waiter is standing 10 feet away BSing with the rest of the waitstaff. We were a table of six and the only ones there so there was no excuse why it was so slow for overpriced service. Its a shame because we were also looking to have a engagement party here. This place is only good for the night club scene. Dont waste your money on the food. 5 out of 6 people at the table were disappointed with the same issue. That was pretty much the talk at the table while we were there.

So I ate at the upstairs part of this place. Its supposed to be a fancy restaurant, but its not. The food is not cooked well and not prepared well. There was only a total of 4 groups in there when I went. These groups were no more than 3-4 people. It took us over an hour to get our food. One of the entrees we had was a Cuban sandwich, it was 2 pieces of toast with lunch meat. No heart went into it. So the food was unedible and the service terrible. I will never go back nor will I recommend this place to anyone. Suggestion, if you are going to charge high prices. Make sure your food is better than what it is. A lot of people dont know what they are tasting and think its fantastic. Your food is low end. I have eaten better at cheaper places.

Excellent atmosphere , fantastic live band, and cocktails are delicious. I enjoyed multiple appetizers including calamari, stuffed mushrooms, fried tomato , and Brussels sprouts which were all very good. However my main dish was the opposite. As soon as the server put it in front of me , I knew it wasnt going to be good based on the presentation. I had the Grouper dish with some strange sauce which was way too soupy on the plate and had a terrible taste and look. The onions and peanuts were out of place and not good either. This entire dish should be removed and revamped. I ended up scrapping all that stuff off my fish and moving my fish to an entirely different plate to eat it.

We ate upstairs on a Sunday at two in the afternoon It was not crowded. There were no anchovies in my Ceasar Salad, nor was I asked if I wanted any. I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was delicious. Beautifully prepared. Delicious sauce. However, the lobster which came with it was quite overcooked, chewy and tough. The meal would have been better without it. I did not receive a spoon with my table service, which I could have used to remove the lemon pits from my sparkling water, which they would only serve by the glass, even after I asked that a bottle be brought to the table. The three stars are for the Chilean Sea bass, the waitress and the view!

I took a friend here for the ultimate in Chesapeake Dining experience. I had eaten here before and was quite enamored with the surroundings, the scenery, the atmosphere... but sadly found both my experiences to be lacking. Though its beautiful and the "on the water" dining is fantastic, romantic and just lovely. The service SUCKS, the food is "okay" and the prices are a bit higher than one would expect given the fare offered. I just have an expectation that when I sit down to order a meal to impress a friend on the Chesapeake bay that experience will be rewarded with quality. Unfortunately the Inn fails to do this. At least in my experience.

went there for easter Buffet last night. When I made the reservation, I was assured there would be plenty of food at the time we went. Well, the blueberry French toast was down to 5 cold dry pieces, no omelet made to order, cold bisque! crab cakes were good, salad blah, dessert was so bad, just a few leftover scraps. the prime rib was delish, porkett awful. tortellini was good! but cold, overall, I would love to have gone there early because im sure it was hot then but later it was not worth the price. the waitress was awesome! Thank you Elaine for great service and getting us desserts that were not on the buffet!

I came to Chesapeake inn to celebrate a party with friends for a wedding. Instead I got stopped by security and was told I did not meet dress code and that my plain white T shirt and hat were unacceptable. I was instead suggested to buy their T shirts from the gift shop. I was also asked for ID for absolutely no reason where no one else in the group was asked. I talked to the manager but got half-effort replies that dodged the questions about the dress code. The food was okay but did not make up for the hassle of just attending the reservation we made days ahead of time. I will probably never come here again.

10/5/2012~~Beautiful and sunny day. Brought boat down from PA. Ate at Shaefers (newly opened across the water) but stopped for drinks later at CI. We had one frozen drink and one Corona and it was $14.40! Last year it wasnt that expensive...even with the economy the price was ridiculous. May not go back again. Needless to say, we didnt have a second round. Outside decor is showing its age. Shaefers was fabulous. Crab cake one of the best we have ever eaten. A bit pricey but the place is brand new..took years to renovate and it was well worth it! You are paying for the view..and everything is new.
