The Main Cup is a wonderful establishment, and is a staple of life in Middletown. It has great food, and is a wonderful place to meet friends for a drink or dine with the family. The owners have worked hard to showcase the original structure of the building, including exposing the brick walls and wooden rafters. They have really captured the spirit of the place (including naming it after the businesses formerly on this plot of land, such as Mains Ice Cream and Mains butcher shop, then owned by the Main family). The ambiance is therefore, amazing. There is an extensive patio as well, which makes for nice outdoor dining. The food is beyond incredible. Every dish is well thought out, delicious, and made with superb ingredients. My favorite is the crab dip! Even the pitas with which the various dips are served are note worthy. The owners (especially Bob, who you can usually see running around the place) show their dedication to creating a wonderful experience for their customers every day, whether it is in the hand-stenciled decor, or stopping by your table to check in. Go here. You wont regret it. You probably wont want to leave.

I had a very good experience my first time here. The atmosphere and Decor was awesome. Our server also was great and very friendly. I tried the pizza and their "jazzy" fries. Both were very tasty, but I would not say the food was over the top. It was very good, and I would go back. Yet again, I felt my selection tasted pretty standard. I was not wowed. The coffee I received was not real hot either. So not sure how fresh it was when they gave me a cup. Took awhile to get our check. But all in all, a great place to go if you want to drive to Middletown. I wont make a special trip too often, but Id go with a group of friends. The cost was about $50 for two of us. I didnt buy any alcoholic drinks, so it was a bit steep comparing it to places like Nolas or The Orchard in Frederick.

We went there on a Saturday night and assumed it would be noisy as most places are on the weekends. The server and food were wonderful, however the atmosphere was so horrible that it negated the positives. One member of our party has difficulty hearing and when the reservation was made, I asked if it would be possible to have a quiet table, understanding that the answer might be no. I was told that they could accommodate us. When we got there we were seated in the front room. The restaurant failed to mention that a huge (and obnoxiously) loud party would be right next to us and that there would be no alternative placement available. After this experience, I am so angry that I cannot imagine going back any time soon, which is a shame because there is a lot of potential.

Perfect discovery for an out-of-towner. Diverse and excellent choices on the menu as well as a respectable beer selection. The building is very old, although no one was able to say when it was built. The owners undertook a major restoration while managing to keep Its original character. To their great credit, they added professional acoustic treatment to the bar and live music area. Im working in neighboring Frederick for a few days and was looking for something beyond burgers and fries. I found it. The Main Cup is four hours by car from my home in Norfolk, Virginia. I wouldnt hesitate to make weekend vacation of Middleton just to return here.

This place is pretty decent. In my opinion has gone slowly and slightly downhill over the years. I like the design and decor of restaurant. Very relaxed and welcoming. Staff is so-so. Meaning they are either great or terrible. Most of the time is the former. Serves a variety of food. Generally food is good. Sometimes not so much. Spinach dip, burgers, and chicken tenders are consistently good. Dessert selection is decent. Big problem for me is pricing. This place isnt cheap for amount and quality of food. But not a bank breaker by any means. Overall safe choice for lunch or dinner.

The food was absolutely wonderful, but our server Peter was terrible. We had to ask more than once for a refill, then had to ask another server for something because after we finally got our food he just walked off and didnt ask if we needed anything else. Did not ask is how our meal was once. Another server even had to point put we needed our bill after sitting with empty plates and drinks for almost 10 minutes. So I would highly advise you to try there food, just avoid Peter as your server.

Always delicious food with quite large portions but I always find the prices to be somewhat high. Their salads are huge but average $12-16. But seriously everything Ive ever ordered is tasty and quality food! Such a quaint restaurant with friendly staff and versatile accommodations - can hold a bible study, meet with a group of friends, hold a small biz meeting, eat with family or romantic dinner for two! Love that they have outside seating too!

I really like the restaurant decor, the blackened chicken salad is really good. The fish and chips were slimy. I got dirty looks from some waitress whos uncle or something i used to work for so Im not sure if the fish and chips were slimy cause of that or they just make it bad....either way, if you can avoid weird wait staff you can get a decent meal. Its over-priced for the food, but the atmosphere is nice.

Great local restaurant. The owner has done a fantastic job restoring the building. Has a nice European feel with exposed brick walls. Great outdoor seating in warm weather. Live Jazz Jam on Thursday nights where musicians can sign up to play. Very warm and inviting. Love the house salad with warm goat cheese. Also have very good homemade pizza and the best sweet potato fries in Frederick County.

About a year ago I was introduced to the Main Cup and it has easily become one of my favorite restaurants. It is such a neat and wonderful restaurant! I love either going in and doing some work with a wonderful cup of coffee on the one side of the restaurant or going for a date night on the sit down restaurant side. They have wonderful food, a great atmosphere, and awesome staff!

I love going to The Main Cup. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is good. The prices are reasonable. The food is not exceptional, but I am still looking for the menu item that will make it worth the trip. I only go to Middletown to specifically go to The Mail Cup. It is large enough for large group meetings and has spaces that are good for quiet lunches with a friend.

We have eaten here for the last three years, I highly suggest Sunday brunch. The salmon, strawberry salad is excellent. The daily specials are amazing, the crab soup, crab cakes are very good. For meat lovers the cheeseburgers are melt in your mouth. They carry Smith Island Cakes for dessert, Need I say anymore. Service good and make sure you go to Jazz night.

Nice ambiance.. very cozy lil spot.. good people.. but for some reason despite several complaints the food is always cold to Luke warm.. coffee is the same way.. I can only speak on the dining section, havent been to the "café " side.. but one would figure a place named the main cup would serve a hot cup of java..
