My first experience of Mission BBQ was at a wedding. Friends of mine had the food catered for their reception. I expected the meat to be on point and it was. What surprised me was the potato salad. It was delicious. At that time there was no Mission BBQ near where I live. But recently... Recently the Mission BBQ in Greenbelt, MD opened. Ive only had the potato salad once at the restaurant and wasnt impressed. The rest of the food never ceases to deliver. Among my favorites are the brisket (nicely flavored and tender as can be) and the pulled pork. I get down with the cheesy potatoes (exclusive to the fall/ winter season) and the green beans. I also love the fact that the restaurant fundraises for worthy causes like wounded veterans and such. The service is excellent too! The combination of the menu, the staff and the price make Mission BBQ addictive. Thats the only negative thing I can say. My waistline is in trouble and yours will be too.

First and last time Ill ever go to this location. The tall brunette line cook is extremely rude and overly sarcastic. She slid someone elses food in front of my fiancé and I of course we didnt know at the time.....(exact meals we ordered and she never called out a name) and said our fries would be out shortly. We grab the trays turn around to find a seat and I hear my name. I turn around, apologize and say I think the meals you gave us belong to someone else. She SNATCHES the trays away shaking her head and mumbles something about remaking the orders in a sarcastic tone. Ive worked in the food industry so I know how frustrating it can be when things like that happen especially in a busy restaurant. However, it was extremely slow, little to no line behind us and she was just over the top for no reason. Especially considering the fact that SHE placed the meals directly in front of us....Ruined my day and I was super excited about this place.

Food was nothing short of incredible, I mean this place is very good. Im a Texan with every bone in my body so I hold BBQ to a different standard and this place has a special piece of my stomach. The 6 pack of different BBQ sauces on the table was super cool. Different sauces from different regions of the country. Really cool atmosphere of appreciation to military and first responders. Halfway into my 3rd bite of my mac & cheese and the national anthem starts playing. Apparently they do this every day @ 12 noon and I seemed to be the only one in the place that was confused. Everyone dropped their utensils and stood at attention at once. I stand and everyone looked at me with a death glare. Im not subject to nationalism but didnt want to be disrespectful so I stood. Didnt have my hand on my heart and it did get me a few stares. None the less, great place. Ill be back for suuurrreeee.

Been here 4 times now. The staff at this location is great, very friendly. But i wouldnt call this place a bbq joint, youre just basically eating smoke. I love red meat and Im obsessed with eating smoked foods but this place doesnt seem to understand that smoke cant be the only flavor. The turkey is the best choice, it actually comes out juicy. Their chicken is unbearably salty and too smokey. For their brisket they give you 2 choices, lean which comes out extremely dry or wet which is nothing but brisket fat and grease. Their sauces are ok but nothing special, your choices are sweet, smokey( like you need more smoke flavor to cover the smoke?), and 2 spicy, which have too much vinegar. Want excellent bbq? stick with hill country in dc

Ordered 2 meat sampler (brisket and pulled pork) with cole slaw and green beans (XXL Combo). Six different BBQ sauces at the table. I tried them all, but I preferred the spicier ones. All sauces are well described on the table display. Amount of food was generous, as I was full and very satisfied with this dinner. Moist brisket was outstanding. I am not a big fan of pulled pork, mainly because I prefer brisket, but this pulled pork made me a convert. Theme of the restaurant honors our service people, and it is nice to get the opportunity to donate a dollar to supporting our veterans and first responders with the hero cup option. Overall a great dining experience!

By far the best and friendliest staff Ive ever encountered at a restaurant, including other Mission BBQ locations! They truly take good care of you and make you feel like family. If Bob Kent is working, dont be shy to say hi to him, hes a great guy! The food is consistently amazing and quick across all the locations Ive been too. If you havent tried the peach cobbler, you gotta try it while its in season, it taste like heaven on earth! Nothing beats their 6 signature BBQ sauces, or their fresh ice tea and lemonade (you can even get beer, and many other drinks)! The fries and especially the Mac n Cheese are so good that I often go just for those!

Stopped by here for lunch the other day. I ordered the pork sandwhich with a side of their mac n cheese. The sandwhich didnt really wow me. It was moist, but on the dry side. Yes, the sauces are there for you to try, but for what you pay I expect a little more. Mac n cheese was mediocre nothing to rave about. I do enjoy the service here. Cashiers are very knowledgeable about whats on the menu, chef comes out to greet you and there are waiters ready to clean up your table. I feel like a place that specializes in BBQ there is something missing here. Yelpers were raving about the cornbread and brisket so Ill try that next time.

I have been a fan of Mission BBQ since I moved up here last August.i was happy to see this new location near UMD. I have been here 5 times since opening. Service is excellent and fast, staff is very attentive to customers sitting down. Quality of the food is always great. You would be a fool to not try Mission BBQ. And the community involvement and support for service members demonstrates true America values. Great culture here.

The food is great, and the service is above and beyond the call of duty. One waiter came by with an extra plate for my 2 1/2 yo son without us even having to ask. Another waiter made funny faces at him while he was running around. The hostess also gave him a sticker and came by several times to make sure we were well taken care of. Its a genuinely friendly, familial environment.

Outstanding service and food. They work really well as a team. My wife had some ribs and she was not happy with it. Candy immediately asked her what else does would like and took care of it right away. The manager was very present and super friendly as well. Job well done. Mission in Greenbelt other restaurants should take lessons from this team.
