Nice coffee shop with short hours. The espresso was smooth and strong like it should be. The chocolate-cherry coffee cake was better than expected (nice nuanced flavors, neither dry nor oversweet). I saw several other coffeecakes in the bakery case that I would be happy to try. True to its name, several of the available drip coffees were of Ethiopian origin. Unfortunately, there doesnt seem to be any dishes or utensils. The cake came in a bag, and no forks were visible anywhere. The espresso was in a to-go cup (no demitasse or even full-sized coffee cup offered). I like to linger over my coffee and cake, and prefer to have them in real dishes, if Im enjoying my purchase at the cafe. Prices are a touch higher than Starbucks or other coffee shops. The big negative is the short hours-- this was my first time here in part because they close early. On this Thursday visit, we were informed they were closing at 6pm. Even for the suburbs, that seems on the early side. A nice location in the big commercial development in Maple Lawn, it has a corner with outdoor seating and ample windows. Wish they stayed open later.

I hate to judge a place by just one visit, but this was just ok. The drip coffee was very good, but my breve latte was not prepared well. Too foamy, no latte art. Maybe its because Im from the Pacific northwest where the coffee is spectacular, so my expectations are high, but I was disappointed in my latte. If we go back I will get drip coffee. If you are expecting a latte with gorgeous foam and a rosetta on it, you wont get it here. The bagel and cream cheese was just ok, too. Overall it sure beat fast food but I was hoping for something a little better.

Sidamo is a pretty decent local coffee shop. The coffee and food options are excellent-- I especially like the Chai Latte. Ive had a chicken sandwich which was fantastic though I wish it would at least come with a side or larger portions considering the price. Service can be slow and the employees behind the counter can be frustratingly rude or uncaring of your order. If youre looking for great service and a welcoming atmosphere, check out Cafe Mezcla over on Cedar Ln or the Java Cafe over on Main St. in Laurel.

Sweet, helpful people. Robust, fresh-roasted, Arabica coffee selection. Yes...frest-roasted. You can sniff it in. Good teas, too. Tasty sandwiches -- for breakfast and lunch. A very comfortable place to park, munch, recharge, hook into wifi and take care of business. I like the fact that families with kids intermingle with hipsters wearing headphobes with techies and people from nearby offices (dont tell the honchos at Verizons nearby call center that this is where their people duck out for java).

Im a very open minded person. So im not quick to judge. Im also very observant. Ive noticed that whenever i come here, the owner makes me feel unwelcome - no smile, very rude. However, she is very warm - giving hugs, etc.. to some of her other customers. But me in particular, just not sure what i did wrong - being that im a regular, sit quietly in my corner and spend quite a bit each time. Im NEVER going there again. But thats just me. She might treat you well.

Way above McBucks. Ethiopians have coffee in their blood and it shows here. I know - I have some in mine, hailing from Mysore in India. Friendly staff. Hope the expansion of office, retail and residential space in Maple Lawn will help them soon to expand hours and the menu. Theyve been here for so long and deserve more success for loyalty to the MLhood.

Its always fun to sit in Sidamo and do work! Its a big space, so if its crowded, its not too loud. There are lots of windows and natural light, so its a relaxing place to be. The morning chai is my favorite drink here. Chai latte with a shot of espresso! You can get drinks in a mug if you stay there, which is always great at coffee shops.

I have been consistently coming here for the past two weeks and have been amazed at the different quality items they have served. Everyday I can try a new sandwich and be overwhelmed at the goodness that comes along with it. And their coffee? EXTRAORDINARY. I cant recommend this place enough. It truly does beat going to Starbucks.

There is an older guy that runs the place in Fulton that was very rude to me. Apparently, getting my cup of their expensive coffee "topped off" is tantamount to stealing from them. I just get a sense this particular guy is nice to you only if you spend $$$, otherwise your patronage is unwanted.

Their white tea, brewed over a candle in a teapot is delicious. Because they give you the whole teapot with the burner, your tea is always hot. The special of the day, cabbage soup and grilled cheese sandwich was also good but a bit pricy. I stayed there for the whole day till closing.

A small, cozy coffee shop - this was a pleasant change from all the Starbucks and Caribou Coffees around. Their tea selection is impressive, the hot chocolate was delicious, and Im interested to try some of their sandwiches next time I go back.

Atmosphere is a bit lacking. Coffee was ok, I would choose this over Starbucks or Dunkin any day but there are so many amazing options in the district it makes the coffee here seem a bit sub par.

The staff was so rude and careless about my order and the smoothie was terrible, I would know because I threw it up. Nothing was fresh. Ive never had such a terrible experience at a restaurant.

Four customers were sold and served drinks before our lattes came out, after we had finished more than half of our sandwiches. Drinks and food were fine though. Will try again.

Its OK coffee and tea and snacks but the service is terrible. They seem to have their favorites who they know. Everyone else they treat like an inconvenience and often rudely.

Good coffee, nice setting but very slow service. Barista running cash register and making drinks. Not a efficient way to get drinks out in a timely manner.

Went in for an iced vanilla latte. It was expensive and underwhelming. Not enough ice and the milk was warm.

Try the Chai Leban. The owners are Ethiopian and their spices for this tea drink is amazing
