I wanted to get my hands on some fresh roasted coffee beans as I am a budding coffee nerd. This is about the closest place to me so I decided to give them a shot. The location seems odd but I suppose they do good business during the work week. I hadnt eaten lunch so I ordered a blt and a regular cup of coffee. Sandwich was good and the coffee was really only average but I decided to buy brands anyhow. Staff was really friendly and helpful. They seemed to know their coffee. Im not up on all the terminology but they helped me find some beans. I picked up a half pound bag of the Papua New Guinea. Once I got home I made a pour over and was impressed. Pretty good stuff though perhaps lighter than I like normally. I find myself pondering if I should go back for my next purchase or try another new spot. Ill definitely go back. Just a matter of when. Thanks.

The premium roasts sit on the shelf too long. Out of a dozen or so times Ive visited, they made a latte/cappuccino correctly only once. The web site has a pic of latte foam art which is an indication of a competent barista, but Ive never been served such a cup. Regular coffee is good. Espresso based drinks are very inconsistent... sometimes the milk is burned, and often the coffee grounds are barely tamped, resulting in a very weak tasting shot of espresso. Ive thrown away two cups already ... one yesterday morning. I wont be wasting anymore money here. Unfortunate, since I really wanted to like it. Tipable: meh / Drinkable: sometimes / chance o return: not anymore

Compared to Dunken Doughnuts, their bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches are much more preferable. If you like your sandwich with a bagel you have to cross your fingers. They have a few bagels behind the counter but rarely do they have what you want. Today (Saturday @ 10AM) I asked one of their employees why they are always out of bagels and that for years Ive been noticing this problem. She replied that bagels are not their specialty and that they carry few in stock. On the positive side, their employees are kind and courteous, there is free wi-fi and they will bring your order to your table when it is ready. The also have an outdoor area to eat.

Just an ordinary coffee stop. They only offer soy milk or regular dairy... I can have neither. The coffee was just alright, and they completely forgot to make my husbands order. Credit card machine was broke and was written down manually. People behind the counter were eating and talking... my husband had to interrupt them to get his order done. All the employees looked and acted like inexperienced teenagers. Stop trying to be "hipster" and work on efficiently. We wont be going back.

Mad City Coffee tweeted on my feed and I checked them out. Of course I ordered a cappuccino. I have to say there coffee is strong perhaps to much for me that day, It was already afternoon. This is a neat coffee shop with WiFi, indoor and outdoor seating and varieties of coffee beans. By the decor you can tell its all about coffee there. The Barista was a young guy perhaps newer there? They do need a bigger table for a group of people to meet there is only bistro style seating.

Came in at 6:59 am for just a quick cup of their house brew, to have a young female employee say that they are not open in a rude way. Mind-you, they are the ONLY coffee house in America that opens at 7 am, not 6 am... or even 5... but compared to the gas stations that are now selling fresh local brew coffee, and Dunkin Donuts, I can not see how it is possible for a business like Mad City to be like this. There is so many other options. Its the last that they will see me.

Great atmosphere. A friendly neighborhood place with staff that makes you feel like youre special. Great food and coffee with different specials and flavors if you want to be adventurous. Quiet corners to sit in if you need privacy; open and outdoor seating if you want to mingle. p.s. I dont think people should rate the business based on their prejudices, and pps.: Mark 1016, just because 2 women sit together, it doesnt mean they are lesbians.

Bland watered down coffee. French toast didnt taste anything like it, instead tasted burnt. Decent pricing, but unclear what was ready brewed. Seems confused as to what theyre trying to do- sell a lot of beans, then sell food and baked goods, as well as unbagged tea blends, but have very few beverage options ready for consumption. What if the customer wants to try the beans before they buy? No way to do that!

I have given this place 3 chances. The first time I went, my cup had a hole. The second time I went, they were out of skim milk. The third time I went , I asked for a latte. I got coffee with steamed milk and no flavor. I went one other time , I gave up on coffee and got hot chocolate. Thank god the hot chocolate is good. The place is very cozy and cute, the coffee is poor. Oh well.

They have some great roasts avilable. My wife and I get whole beans there once a month. Great for the neighborhood and we dont have to drive. Prices on the roasts are average. We do like the way they store the roasts so we can get the aroma of the coffee before we buy it. A few more staff members might be needed, as we seem to wait awhile for our order every time we go in.

Its the nearest cafe to me, so I continue returning. Sadly, it is usually underwhelming. The staff are often distracted so ordering is a chore and the coffee is watery. I usually come away wishing I hadnt bothered and wondering why I keep wasting my money. I suppose if you want to sit somewhere, buy a drink and use the Internet for hours, this has some appeal.

You may not get Blue Mountain any more. But I always like this place. Wish they will bring back all different kind of coffee they used to have. I used buy my beans from here and they used to custom roast it for me. They dont have that service any more. You still can have similar service from the cafe in Executive Blvd.

I live about a half hour away from Columbia and the drive is worth it to come to this gem of a coffee house. Their coffee is flavorful and robust and their lattes are fantastic - even for non-dairy drinkers like me. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Well worth the drive to give myself a special treat!

Very good coffee and sandwiches. I have not yet had the pleasure of their baked goods, however I will be back another time to try those. I also love the personal attention the staff gives you. Very much a small town feel to their environment, rather than the corporate chain mentalities.

I really want this place to be good, and the food is fine, but the espresso drinks are really hit or miss. Maybe it just depends on whos working at the time? Lattes, Americanos, etc are always (in my experience) bitter, burned, and/or not made to correct proportions.
