While we wanted to remain loyal to the original building, we got curious and decided to do a compare/contrast of both R&R and El Papi (located in the old R&R spot). See our review of El Papi for full details of that experience. The new building, located across the parking lot for the old spot, features a very easy to read menu and pinterest inspired decor. The lack of air conditioning and ventilation made for an unpleasant wait. Speaking of the wait, it was quite lengthy. We must have been there during busy hours or with new employees. The employees were friendly, and we loved the look of their uniforms (with the names professionally embroidered). One interesting point, the kitchen, counter, and menu space are shared with the burger shop, but not the registers. Patrons had to switch lines to order separately. They veggie burrito was average. Not a lot of flavor, but the peppers and onions were perfectly cooked. It seemed to lack a sauce or something to make it complete. Veggie tacos included peppers, onions, and rice. They were topped with a dressing (sour cream based I believe) without it being listed on the menu. We had to remove the lettuce to salvage the untainted ingredients. While we didnt think it was spectacular, it seemed a very popular place.

Food is great ! One of the best places I been too, the food is fresh and always good ! The service not so much, I went with my family on my birthday to celebrate and enjoy their amazing food but the food took about 40 mins to get to my table, they brought part of the food out and after about 30 mins of us waiting for the rest of our food I went back to the kitchen to asked how much longer and I had to wait for the cooks to stop talking and stop laughing just so they would pay attention to me, after a couple mins of me waiting for an answer they said they had lost my ticket ! After a while I went back to ask them for something to go and all the cooks were giving me the dirtiest look as if I made a mistake. The only reason why I would ever come back is because the owner is a really nice guy and because the food is GREAT ! Really have to change the service !

One of the worst dining experience with my family. Went on a week night to a rundown shopping center in Eldridge. Restaurant itself could use a facelift. Staff speaks very little English , they are all very young , not organized and not very helpful. Ordering at the counter is a nightmare when you cant converse with the staff. The prices on the hand held menu are not even the same as menu board over the counter. The place looks dirty. We were seated at a dirty table. Had to ask someone to come clean the table. When our meal arrived at the table we were all disappointed we had wasted so much money on a meal barely worth eating. We all agreed we should have gone to Taco Bell. Will definitely never return there. One last thing we were overcharged $7.00 on our already overpriced meal.

The quality of ingredients and food at this place has gone Down since they reopened in the new location. Huraches, for example, no longer come with avocado, nor beans nor cilantro, but the steep price remains the same. This is not how you run a restaurant. Insensitivity to allergies are also a big factor in this review – I asked 1 manager and 2 workers to check if peanuts were in one of their dishes. All said "no". Turns out the horchata has peanuts, and this could kill or seriously hurt someone with an allergy. There are better options in the area for Mexican. The quality of the food was much better before they moved next door and rent prices went up. The manager should seriously consider the costs they cut, because they have lost another customer.

Food is ok, not "Off the hook" like that over played & outdated Guy from the diner show said. Service was the worst. You either have to be Latino or be able to speak Spanish to be helped. I asked the person taking the orders what she would suggest to eat, she rolled her eyes at me, then mumbled let me know when you are ready to order and turned her back to me. I ended up getting the lengua tacos that were good, but not worth the hassle. The other and last time I will ever go there again, I walked into the place, they had the music cranked up, they looked up at me, gave me the stink eye, resumed their laughter and whatever else they were doing. I just walked out and went to Arbys where I was treated respectfully and got a damn good "beef" sandwich.

We came here because of the great reviews. We got here and found the complete opposite. The staff was not very enthusiastic and they forgot to bring half of my wifes order to the table, we had to ask for it and we got it we got this long look like we inconvenienced them. I ordered one of the "breakfast specialties" and that came out as an over cooked in un-seasoned steak and eggs with a pile of soggy tortilla chips with a light sprinkle of cheese and a little sour cream. The other dish was store bought chorizo and a bowl of watery warmed up beans from a can. The slice of goat cheese was the only good thing on the plate that actually made it to the table on time. We will not be coming back and we are very easy to please people.

This place is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Ive had the fish tacos, huevos rancheros, and breakfast burrito. All have been awesome and are vegetarian options (thumbs up from me). The fish tacos were easy to eat and had wonderful flavor. The huevos ranchero is probably my favorite dish, it is a spicy egg based dish with beans and rice, excellent stuff and worth a try. R&R has plentiful seating ever since moving to their new location, staff is friendly, and the food comes out in a relatively normal amount of time. It does tend to get pretty busy during lunch time, but the mornings and evenings are more manageable. Overall, I crave this place from time to time and would definitely recommend it.

A story of what fame can do for you...or to you. We heard about R&R from Guy Fieris show, so last year, we visited. Food was awesome, service was awesome, prices were ok. Today, we went back. The place had dishes all over the place...we had to clean our own table, which, in truth, is not that big a deal, but... The food we ordered took forever, which for some tacos in a taco place, is a bad sign. My wifes food was interesting, and only way we kind of rescued the experience is that my wife is fluent in Spanish and I have a working proficiency. I can understand people being frustrated if they dont speak Spanish. R&R, focus on what you are GOOD at...what got you on "Diners"...

I give highly rated restaurants a few attempts to wow me, but the first two attempts were duds, and this one was no different. Waited 25 minutes for carry-out, no one else was in line, 4 tacos, nothing crazy out of the ordinary. Two tacos were colder than room temperature after a 10 minute drive; the al pastor taco had meat that was way too chewy and inedible. You can tell the flavor is almost there but the execution is just way off. The chorizo taco is the only one I would give 7/10 but Taqueria los primos is down the road and everything Ive had there has been better so far, so I dont see a reason to head back to R&R.
