I have read some negative reviews and assure you that these are not the case with the Nautilus. I know the owner personally, and, as an African-American woman, I have never seen them seat people with a higher number of a certain race than another (the owner is Greek and accepts all patrons with open arms). That is the most ridiculous allegation I have heard. My family and I frequent them so much that the waiters, busboys, and cooks know us and greet us with a smile, handshake, and/or hug. It is such a family friendly atmosphere. Furthermore, the Nautilus is a clean restaurant and takes the highest precautions for food safety and sanitation. I have my ServSafe food handling license through my culinary school experience, and I will tell you that mice and bugs creep into ALL restaurants occasionally, but this is uncommon and does not negate the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. The food quality is very good, especially the crabcakes...simply amazing. They take time to prepare food and the portion sizes (particularly of the lunches and dinner) are HUGE). The prices are reasonable and their hours are wonderful as well. I recommend without reservation the Nautilus Diner in Crofton, and if you ask to meet the owner, they will accomodate your request if he is there...he is such a wonderful man.

This is the worst diner that I have ever been to. The waiter was busy telling a departing table about his religion and did not wait on us for 15 mins. When we were about to leave he finally came over and took our order. Afterwards, it was another 30 minutes before we received the main course. When I received my broiled rockfish, it absolutely was not fresh. They tried to cover the smell with lemons but as soon as you put it in your mouth you knew it was way past its expiration date. I complained to the waiter and he summoned tge manager over. He claimed it was fresh but he sure didnt try eating any of it. I put in an order for a different dish but did not receive it for another 30 mins. All the patrons noticed that our waiter was apparently a chronic smoker and kept disappearing for minutes on end to smoke out back. Now, the manager is witnessing this and doesnt say a word. Finally, one of the patrons complained. We jumped on the bandwagon and did so too. The manager made excuses for him saying that the waiter just wanted us to enjoy the atmosphere. Really? The waiter must be his nephew or simething.

The food was so so. Ive been there once before and noticed some rather unacceptable behavior, like filling up one section with a group of individuals of the same racial background. (and no these groups werent there for a party...) My last experience the food was cold, the server tried to overcharge me for not wanting certain items on my meal. I spoke with the older women that works there and asked a question about what I ordered. My question was, " Does the garden omlette come with all vegetables?" Just to support my complaint... She said, "yes!" She went to get the guy that served myself and my friend and he explained our bill to us. When I made the statement that the older women said "yes" the garden omlette does come with all veggies. She exploded on me and said that she said no such thing. Not only did I feel insulted that she would lie about what she just told me in front of my guest, but it was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! That will be my last time ever going there!!!

I whole heartedly agree with akalee! I was totally impressed with absolutely every aspect of this restaurant. The food was excellent, We are always keenly aware of the quality of the service where ever we dine, because if the servers are top rate, we like to show our appreciation accordingly and we have never been dissapointed at this restaurant in any way. So far as racial issues...you gotta be kidding!!! Anyone who claims this is enacted to even the slightest degree by these folks must be bitter paranoid individuals whose main goal in life is to create dissention where ever they go. We were there only twice, quite recently, but in fact plan to take our out of town guests there for lunch tomorrow enroute to the airport. And I am entirely confident that we will all thouroughly enjoy the experience as each time before. Bon appitite!!! And get over yourselves!!!

We moved in August and have eatin here once or twice a month since then . . . . have easily spent $500.00 here. Today our total was $33.78. I presented a coupon for 10% off and was rudely told that since it was a holiday, the coupon was not valid. It is presidents day so technically I guess she is correct but I know I had to work today. I asked what the difference was since we did not order a special, everything was straight out of the menu and she again rudely told me that it says somewhere on the coupon, not valid on weekends or Holidays. Bottom line, they lost $1,000 a year to keep my $3.38. The food is not that good for them to be so rude. Keep my 3 dollars, there are plenty of other places that appreciate a customer.

Staff was very friendly when I went in with a friend and her one and a half year old who decided to make a drink of crayons, syrup, jam and other table items. The food was mediocre. Like many places, the Monte Cristo sandwich was just a ton of meat and cheese slapped on french toast and served open faced. No standout flavors but this is common for diners. The coffee was delicious and I would try it again, just order something different. What I did like is the menu wasnt 20 pages long like many local diners. Anytime a menu is that big you wonder about quality and usually arent surprised when the meal is nothing more than mediocre.

Been to the Diner about 5 times, it has always had great good. Weve visited for dinner and lunch once each, but have dined 3 times for dessert (excellent!). The service is always bad, sometimes waiters getting yelled at by managers in front of the customers. One time we ordered dessert and coffee. The dessert showed up, the coffee showed up 15 minutes later. When we got our first cup we had practically finished our dessert. When we asked for the second up it took another 15 minutes. Meanwhile the waitress is talking to customers about her personal life. It gets annoying, but it wont stop us from going for the food.

I used to go to this place daily. The people were nice, food was good, and the service was great. Now with the rotation of staff the food is not good for the price that you pay. The young girls that work there are dry and have no customer service skills at all. They look as though they do not want to be there. The Asian lady that works there has always been rude but tolerable. Now I do not want to even come in to eat anymore. This place about 2 years ago would have received a 5 star from me. There are other breakfast places in the area with better service, better food, and much cheaper prices.

I stop here a couple of times a week, when working in this area. Food quality varies w/whichever cook is on duty, but is usually at least OK. Tonights meal was better than theyve had in a while, but I wont go back, again. Halfway through my meal, a couple of waiters started loudly talking politics. One made a disparaging & inaccurate remark about our current POTUS. Not cool... Great way to start a fight. Felt my BP rising as I fought the urge to get in their faces. I dont pay $20-$30 for a meal, to listen to staff display their ignorance. The maitred is OK. I wish him luck.
