I have been here twice, the first time, i thought their food was ok, but i found another thai place on odenton which is much better, authentic and full of flavor! But this weekend, after feeling hungover from a night of drinking, i was craving spicy food for lunch. I went to the thai place in Odenton but they didnt open till 3pm, so i decided to go here instead. This was a mistake. I went with my brother, and got the basil shrimp fried rice and asked them to make it very spicy with 4 peppers. The food didnt have any flavor, all i tasted was the spice. The basil shrimp fried rice cost $16 per dish, and their thai tea was also pretty expensive it was $4.50, basically starbucks price for thai tea. Anyway the total was about $40. I felt like the price wasnt worth it because we were paying $16 for an overpriced Chinese fried rice. It seriously had no thai flavor at all! It didnt even taste like good chinese food, more like the corner store chinese food that has too much soy sauce in it. Thai fried rice arent usually made with soy sauce. I paid, and brought this up with the manager after i paid, she was rude and offended that i compared the food to a chinese dish and decided to argue with me that it wasnt chinese. I told her the soy sauce was too much and the food lacked flavor, instead of apologizing, she said "ok" needless to say, i am never going back there again. Keep your money and find a better place. It is very overpriced and the food lacks flavor. It is not an authentic thai restaurant.

If you dont read past here, I found a long bug in my food. It looked like a maggot or some kind of worm. The place is really hot inside, and the red chairs are very uncomfortable. When the lady came to take our order, she advised the price of the item I ordered was wrong, and the item was 26 dollars instead of 18. Thats a huge difference in what is printed. When the food came, my hot and sour soup wasnt the best Ive eaten, but not the worst either. The sushi was middle of the road too. I ordered the scallops as my main course, and the spice level was decent! I only ordered "3" and it was plenty spicy without being too hot. Then it happened. I found the bug. I pulled it out and showed it to the guy who brought us water. He got the lady and she removed that one item from my bill and said it must have been in the vegetables. Obviously my appetite was ruined at that point, and we didnt finish the rest of our food. The woman didnt seem surprised, so bugs must happen often there. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

We started with the chicken satay, which was fine. Im not sure if I have ever had bad satay, but this stuff was far from the best that Ive had. My husband and I ordered the "lunch portions" of the drunken noodles with beef (spiciness level = 3) and the chefs special curry (spiciness level = 4). I cant imagine how big the dinner portions are, because this was a lot of food -- a large entree and a soup or salad. My hot and sour soup was decent. Everything but the beef in the drunken noodles dish was pretty good -- texture, flavor, etc. However, the beef itself was a bit tough. At first I thought that the 3 wasnt very spicy, but it ended up having a building spiciness that was quite pleasant. By the time I switched to my half of the curry, which was a 4, the curry already felt too spicy. The flavors of the curry werent very complex. It did make me a little sad eating here since it is at the old location of Orinoco, the only good coffee shop that ever existed in Columbia.

I was OUTRAGED at paying $72 for two small-ish entrees and three sushi rolls!!!! My husband ordered Orange Chicken, General Chos chicken, a California roll and 2 other sushi rolls, along with a cup of won ton soup. When he went to pick it up, they charged $18 per chicken order, for a basic serving with three pieces of broccoli!!! Plus, the sushi was way expensive for basic stuff. I told him to take it back and get our money back, but he was too hungry. The food is only so so - just like any other Chinese or Japanese place, nothing special. There are 2 black chairs - yes chairs - for sale right in the front door , with hand-written signs of $15 each on them. For goodness sake - what a rip off and a stupid way to do business. The koi take is so crammed with fish, you cant see the water - poor things! I predict 6 months tops - then theyre gone. Youre better off at PF Changs or Sushi Sono - stay away. But our waitress was awesome - Crystal. :)

Good food. Poor server. She wasnt friendly, was very curt and was rushing us to order. I spilled my soup the server was standing right there and didnt move to do anything, or say anything. I cleaned it up with the ONE napkin she gave me. She took the bowl and left. When I turned around I saw why she was so disinterested she was eating at the bar directly behind me. The cook placed our food on the counter at 2:29 because she was eating she didnt see that she FINALLY SERVED US at 2:34. Thankfully, we ordered sushi. Who eats while serving???? Thats like going to the Dentist and shes flossing her teeth in the chair while youre waiting for her to start your cleaning.. #tacky #unprofessional She just kept rushing us so we ate and left.

We ate here over a year ago when it was The Red Parrot (circa 2007-2008) and it was awful. Since then new management has taken over and this place has been reborn as Cha Ya. Better atmosphere, better food, and an overall much better experience. Weve ordered the Bento meals several times - all of which have been great portions and flavorful - and the sushi weve ordered has been fresh and very tasty. The chicken lettuce wraps and spring rolls are fabulous and the bottomless green tea is always great. And to boot, the prices are reasonable, especially for sushi in an expensive suburban town. Since mid-2008 this has been an excellent place to find tasty Asian cuisine. We look forward to our next visit.

Excellent service! Anytime Im in the mood to go out for asian this is at the top of my list. I find myself recommending this place more than any other. The roast duck is easily the best Ive had at any restaurant in the area. The succulent flavors from the wine broth and the long roasted duck keep me coming back for that alone, not to speak of their great sushi and other entrees. I generally get either the Roast Duck or the Thai Basil w/ Beef. They dont mess around when you ask for spicy which is how I prefer that dish. Im always very happy with the portion sizes and generally leave with leftovers. For lunch I usually get one or two rolls or sometimes the drunken noodles.

Ive tried many popular sushi places around Columbia; sushi king, sushi hana, sushi sono, and theyre not bad, but they are more pricey. I found Cha-Ya Sushi N Thai when they first opened, so I gathered a couple friends to go check it out. The service was very good and friendly. We didnt have to wait long for sushi or orders off the menu and even though they dont charge an arm and a leg, the sushi was delicious and fresh! Ive gone back quite a few times and its always a pleasant experience. Ive not found a place that makes a better Ebi Tempura roll, either.
