I have visited the Ashland Cafe for weekend breakfasts on many occasions. I have always been pleased with the fast service and home-style cooking that makes breakfast foods so good. However, after my experience this weekend (Saturday, 3/28/10 to be exact) I will NEVER TRUST ANY FOOD from there again! While waiting to be seated (which took only about 5 minutes) my sister and I observed two DISGUSTING acts. First, we witnessed a man who was bussing the tables takes knives off of a table and place them in what we thought was the bussers cart (a cart that all dirty/used dishes and utensils are dropped at prior to being taken to the kitchen to be cleaned). That would be fine. We spotted a free table and when asked where we would like to be seated, pointed it out. The table was still in need of cleaning so we waited. A steaming hot cup of coffee from the last patron was still setting on the table. As we were being walked to the table my sister and I observed a lady take that cup of coffee and dump it into the coffee pot on what we thought was the bussers cart. Upon closer inspection of this cart we noticed that it was not in fact a place for dirty items. It was a cart containing all clean and non-used items for diners- including coffee pots on warmers!!! As we sat down to our table we witnessed that same coffee pot being taken around to the patrons to have their coffee freshened up! My sister and I promptly got up and left. I work in the healthcare industry and my sister has worked in the restaurant business so we were especially appalled by these observations! My sister informed me that ANYTHING that is placed on a patrons’ table must be either tossed or cleaned, regardless of the apparent or not so apparent use. Not only are the employees of this restaurant opening up the possibility of the spread of bacteria and disease from patrons SHARING coffee and utensils, but you also must question what goes on in the back if this is being done out in the dining area!!! Is that biscuit truly ‘fresh out of the oven’ or is it fresh off of that sneezing, coughing person’s plate? Is that really extra pepper on your omelet or dirt from the kitchen floor? I am sure that the Baltimore County Health Department will enjoy this story.

Today was the first day I ever ordered from Ashland Cafe. I will NEVER, EVER order from there again. Heres why. We placed an order for take out. They said 30mins. My husband arrived. They gave him the order. It was missing the pancakes. They had to make the pancakes. By the time the food got home, it was stone cold because we had to wait for a third of the order to be cooked. On top of the food being stone cold, they gave him unbuttered toast instead of the biscuit he ordered. No big deal. However, as I was eating my omelette that was supposed to be made with broccoli and cheddar, I noticed it was very bland. Upon really taking a look at it, I noticed there was absolutely no cheese on it. This gets better... So, we call to get the order properly made. They try to argue with my husband on the phone. My husband states there is definitely no cheese on the omelette. They say fine, theyll refire. My husband goes back to Ashland with my somewhat eaten broccoli and NO cheese omelette and unbuttered toast, to be met by 2 males arguing with him that there is cheese on the omelette and butter on the toast, and since I already ate some, were basically were screwed. After a few more minutes of arguing over the omelette that did NOT have cheese on it like the receipt stated it should, they made a new one. So, you see, because Ashland wants to be ghetto towards their customers, waste our time, and call us liars, Ashland will never see another dime from us. Also, I will make sure I repost this review on every site and publication possible. They should be ashamed of themselves for their actions, and probably should 1) get some glasses since they obviously cannot see clearly 2) take a few classes in customer service. I mean really, Ashland?? Do you really think my husband wanted to drive to your dirty restaurant TWICE instead of sitting at home with his family enjoying his day off? Do you really think we wanted to just pick a fight with you instead of enjoying the gorgeous day? Get a grip, and learn how to run a restaurant, you jerks.

Third visit to this restaurant. First two experiences were delightful however this one was not. Visited with friends on a friday night to hear the band and have dinner. Dinner was delicious except there were onions in my gyro which I specifically asked to be removed due to headaches. We sat in a booth towards the back of the new section and the music was unbearably loud and we could hardly hear each other. I have heard the bands before and they were never this loud. Dont know if that section the acoustics are worse or what the problem was. Please keep up the good work with the food but please address sound issues as dining with such loud music is not appealing. Otherwise I would rate a 4 or a 5.

Had Ashland Special (pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links). The pancakes and sausage were decent, but the scrambled eggs (with melted cheddar) were amazing. I ordered through OrderUp delivery and my food arrived in about 25 mins (~3 miles away), which is somewhat faster than most delivery in the area. (Notably they dont use OrderUps drivers so thats probably why it was slightly faster -- and unfortunately means you dont get a cool GPS tracker of your driver. Small price to pay for a prompt, delicious breakfast.)

This place is wonderful, has an excellent feel to it, and tasty food. Dont listen to melissa, she is probably a compulsive liar. The only legitimate complaint i can think of is that the plastic cups smell like soap. There are three areas to sit in: the original building which is more homey and cafe-y, the patio, and across the patio in a bar restaurant which is well air conditioned and rarely crowded. Sometimes customers rent out this last space for parties. I recommend the pancakes and sausage!

Today is the first time that the food or service was not so good. Usually its great here. Fly in food. My turkey was starting to go bad. Owner claims they use fresh turkey cutlet everyday. Thats not very cost effective to do that every single day. Think that her kitchen lied to her. Probably wont go back there...especially if I get sick from the food. Oh and the alcohol was very watered down.

Very good food, nice severs and quick service and my order is always correct and a good price. Would have been a little nicer if the woman (whos im assuming is in charge of the servers, a kind of short dark haired hispanic woman) hadnt been screaming at one of the servers very loudly right by our table she could have repremanded him quiter or in the back.

Ashland Cafe catered a workshop for us just this week, they offered a variety of sandwiches, potato salad and cookies. The sandwiches were wonderful, the potato salad delicious, and the cookies were gone. All the food was delivered on time and set up very professionally and quietly. Looking forward to working with them again in the future
