We have been here before and the food and service is usually OK, but we went there yesterday and it was terrible. I ordered the crab cake, which claims to have no filler, but it does. The bun was burnt and I asked the waitress to give me a new bun, which she did. My boyfriend order the clam sampler and it looked dried out. He said it was not that great. It looks like the order was ready in the kitchen, but was kept under the lights too long. The waitress was socializing with other people, and eating her lunch with the other wait staff, so I guess she forgot it was there. I ordered coffee after the meal and when it came to the table it was burnt. Tasted like it had been on the coffee burner for hours. I could not drink it, so I asked the waitress to take it off of the check. I generally, am not a complainer when it comes to food unless it is really, really bad. When the waitress returned with the check she said. "Im sorry the meal wasnt perfect, but perfect is pretty boring." This is what made me decide that we are not coming back to this restaurant. I can understand a few mistakes, and I am not asking for perfect, but when you pay $50.00 for a lunch, it should at least taste good.

During a weekend stay in Chestertown a good number of people and even the reviews said that the Fish Whistle was a great place to go for seafood. We stopped in for lunch and our visit was less than the hype. To start the dining room was so hot, I was sweating just sitting at the table. By the time we got there about 4:30p a good bit of the specials were already out. We tried the bacon wrapped scallops as a starter, they were good, properly cooked and they gave you 6, I thought that was reasonable for the price. I ordered the brown sugar mustard salmon and for a $21 dish I was very underwhelmed when it arrived. The salmon was maybe a 3 oz piece that was over cooked and charred (for $21 I would have expected at least a 6oz piece that was better cooked), the rice was over cooked and bland, and the veg of the day was the best thing on my plate (corn and carrots). My moms dish was a pasta dish with scallops and halibut. The sauce was bland, the fish tasted as if it was just steamed without seasoning, and the scallops where done well. In my experience - they have nearly perfected the art of the scallop but all else falls short. I plan to visit Chestertown again - but not the Fish Whistle

The fish whistle has delicious food. We always go here once a year to celebrate my grandfathers birthday. However, every time Ive been here they always mess up at least one persons order, and have to go back into the kitchen and re-make something. Usually its not paying attention to how the customer asked for the food to be cooked or if they wanted chicken vs seafood in their dish. The location is amazing, right on the water, its beautiful looking out the window of the restaurant. Im not sure if they simply just dont have enough wait staff or what the problem is, but you have to ask the waitresses 3 times for something before they remember, like for extra napkins or silverware. Also for a place as expensive as the fish whistle, you would think their wait staff would have higher class uniforms, but they wear shorts and t-shirts. You cant have a high class establishment if your waitstaff dont also look the part too. All that being said, the Fish Whistle has some DELICIOUS food, like their crab dip. Always get the crab dip! Also their food presentation is always beautiful. Long story short: great chefs, bad waitstaff

We ate lunch at the Fish Whistle on Tuesday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very busy when we arrived at 12.30 pm but we were seated right away. We had a charming waiter who was very patient when the four of us talked rather getting right down to the business of reading the menu and placing our orders. It was one of those rare occasions when I really had a hard time choosing what to eat. There were plenty of delicious sounding options but in the end I chose their house smoked salmon on rye bread with cucumber and dill sauce. I also ordered some fries in case the salmon was a tiny order. My husband (True Brit that he is) chose fish and chips. My salmon was just perfect. The portion was generous and the salmon very moist and flavorful. My husband fish and chips were also good. We then shared a 10 out of 10 Crete brûlée. The only reason I havent given the restaurant the full five stars is that my friend ordered a crab cake on salad. She was very disappointed with it but couldnt really explain why. She also had creek brûlée and loved it sonI guess she finished the meal on a high note.

Host was rude. Food was over-priced for what it was, glorified bar food. I foolishly ordered the baked chicken enchalada. The portion was large, which is a plus in my book typically. But to my dismay, the contents were lacking. It was topped with a mound of melted cheese, which was actually too much cheese, a rare happening. In digging beneath the cheese I discovered a gooey thin casing of dough encapsulating an unrecognizabe brown goo. The chicken? There was little to no evidence of real pieces of chicken, or beans, or vegetables (which may or may not have been included in the dish anyway). The only taste I could really discern was brown sugar. A lot of it. It was a bland, brown sugar-tasting mush. I wasnt very pleased. I dont recommend dining at the restaurant. Two Tree located in Millington serve much better dishes for the same cost. I do recommend happy hour on Thursdays at the bar. They have a free nacho bar that is fantastic and $2 drafts, including seasonal craft beers.

We visited the Fish Whistle with a large group on the first night of their new menu. We had never had the old menu, but we were impressed with this one. All food was excellent. For appetizers we ordered Oysters on the Half Shell, the Oyster sampler, the Crab and Cheese Dip and the Jerk Chicken Wings. Everything was hot, except the Oysters on the Half Shell, which were very fresh and nicely chilled. For dinner we ordered two plates of Braised Beef Rib and Lamb chops , both delicious and perfectly cooked, a New York Strip that was tender and well seasoned, Cipoino with shell fish, Fish and Chips which lacked seasoning and were somewhat soggy, the Surf and Turf dinner, and Chicken Fingers. We also got a few deserts witch were very tasty!!!! All of the food was hot when we got it. The pricing on it was reasonable, especially for this area, and especially for the quality of the food. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and plan to return for another.

On 8/15/13 went to Fish Whistle for dinner. Absolutely one of the worst meals I have ever received. We ordered catfish fingers & cream of crab for apps. Catfish was burned & the soup was cold. sent soup back ask for it to warmed- it came back about the same- what little crab that was in it was old crab or frozen. My husband thought he would play it safe & order from that evenings specials- meatloaf. the only way it was not completely dry is that it was swimming in grease. I order petite salmon with spinach.Salmon was frozen from Sams club- I know because I buy the same cuts- spinach was cold. The best experience we had all nite was our waitress. She could see that we were not enjoying our meal & did give us a credit which was very appreciated! I would not eat there again nor ever suggest anyone else eat there- better off grabbing a fast food meal.
