Fourth visit to Jack and Zachs in Baltimore at 333N. Charles St. As native New Yorkers who are also total foodies and travel frequently, we are blessed to have eaten in some of the worlds finest eateries, all around the world, in every continent. Food snobs for sure, but we know good food and wine whether its the best slice of pizza or rack of lamb. Fine aged cheese, wine or a hot cup of joe. So okay, thats our credentials. Now on to the really important stuff. This little down home place, cozy and hamish in its total Americana feel, serves up the absolute best, Best, BEST Pancakes, sauage, thick sliced Bacon, pure Maple syrup, home fries, and fresh baked breads and rolls, strong vibrant coffee and teas and a host of other locally sourced fresh, organic food (eggs, veggies, fruit, meat, dairy). Their assorted Veggie burgers were voted Baltimores Best and one taste tells you why. But make no mistake, those crisp rimmed, fluffy flap-jacks are the star of the show! Nowhere in the states, (been to all but Alaska), or Paris, France, Vienna or anywhere prideful of their pancakes or crepes...do they compare to these. They are also consistantly perfect. Four times, five stars....six if it were an option!! If you are anywhere in the DCA, Maryland or Delaware area, dont miss the opportunity for a treat that youll find yourself craving and sad when youre finished! :-)

This was amazing! First off we went on a Sunday morning, they opened at 10am and when we got there, a line had already formed. There is very limited seating, so getting there a bit before opening is recommended. When you walk in, there is a bar, like at a Diner, that wraps around to the front. The restaurant has a very rural America feel, and the stools a bit close to each other. Either Jack or Zach served us, he went one by one and took orders for drinks and food. Coffee was ALWAYS filled which is was really nice. All their food is organic and they even have a board that tells you where they get it from. I had the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwhich on toast. The actual sandwich was kind of small, but delicious. I did feel the bacon was a little salty but did not take away from my enjoyment of the dish. If I am ever in Baltimore I will definitely go back!

I suggest ignoring Tammy, the only thing she got right is that this place has the feel of a dive - a little frayed around the edges, cozy, approachable, beautiful in its own way. The place is clean and tidy, a little worn-exactly like a good dive should be. The guy at the counter was approachable, and did not assault me with the overabundance of happiness and hyperattention (or device-dependent irritation) you find at the chains. He came when I needed food and coffee, and otherwise left me alone. Music was blues-y and not too loud. Breakfast was delicious, homemade everything and perfectly cooked. The food is humble, just a touch quirky, but not elitist. If you are looking for glossy McFoodChain, this place may not be for you. If you want personality and a great meal, I highly recommend.

I cannot say enough about this place! It is one of my absolute favorite gems about Baltimore and I love that it is situation right between downtown and Mount Vernon. There are only about 12 seats at this old diner, but it is WORTH THE WAIT. The atmosphere is something whimsical with tiny handmade trinkets and oversized old paintings. Jack and Zach have been friends since childhood and they run a smooth operation - one cooks and one manages front of house. The coffee refills are endless and they make most of their food products - everything from hummus, sausage, granola, ice cream! It is diner food that is actually good for you. Im just always sad on Saturdays when all I crave is Jack and Zacks and theyre not open that day!

I really dont understand the positive reviews for this place. Going in I loved the concept: locally grown/made food, simple lunch-counter seating, limited menu. However, the food was inedible. I ordered two eggs over medium with toast, potatoes and sausage. The eggs arrived over hard, lukewarm and incredibly greasy. The toast was slivers of dense bread that were dripping (and not in a good way) in butter. The homemade sausage had the best flavor and was the least greasy thing on the plate --- but it was burned. Oh, and for some reason the AC was off so it was sweltering. Dont go here unless you like lukewarm, greasy, unexciting food.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city, especially for casual breakfast or lunch. A focus on house made or local ingredients, caring staff/owners, and an effort to make each time as excellent as the last. But the place itself is a no pressure, if classic, little diner. Omlets, house made sausage, and veggie patties are outstanding. Highly recommend a couple visits atleast, (thanks to the two guys for a great breakfast during the two years I spent in baltimore) - they do close a little earlier than posted, at 3pm most days

Little grungy dive of place. Think concept good locally sourced home made. But the jars of homemade jams on counter grossed me out because everyone digs in to the same jar not sanitary. S& p shakers sticky. I ordered scrambled eggs which appeared to have been cracked into pan and stirred around with lots of white showing. Not fluffy SCRAMBLED eggs more like something my child may attempt. I only ate few bites. Husband got an omelet and first time he barely ate. Man behind counter not very friendly either. Waste of time and money

Oh my god the egg and cheese sandwich. Almost always egg and cheese sandwiches are just a meat sandwich without the meat. Theyre designed as a vehicle for meat and so dont taste of anything themselves. Not this egg and cheese sandwich. The crucial points are: really sharp cheese (like really sharp), and egg that is still runny, on an awesome, dense, small but perfectly formed seeded bagel. Add sriracha and you have the Platonic form of the egg and cheese sandwich. A sandwich worth going so far out of your way for.

The two guys are great, really humble and let their food do the talking. Delicious veggie and meat patties. I love the way they make their hash browns. They designed the place to feel cozy and it really does feel so with all its little quirks. While its always full, Ive somehow never had to wait more than ten min for a late Sunday morning brunch

One of the best places to eat in the city. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. The food is incredible. Breakfast is excellent and the veggie burgers are the best Ive ever had. All local ingredients but not expensive - everything under ten dollars. The place has a lot of character and has that cool neighborhood feel.

The omlette was mediocre and cooked without effort. Chunks of uncut greens were tossed in there. Sweet potato was good. Pancakes are sad, small and lacking in any quality a pancake should have. You eat and think whatever, then you see the bathroom and wonder how this place is still open. Disgusting

Food here is decent, but I give 4 stars because the hours can be wonky. Went there for Brunch and found out they will be closed for a few weeks. And there are only about 11 seats in the joint, so come earlier or you might end up standing around waiting for a seat.
