Tonight, a friday night, my wife and I went here on a suggestion from a friend. We walked in about 8pm with no reservations. Very nice decor, very cozy, low light. We were seated promptly, and thats when it all went downhill. Our drink order was taken quickly. My wife ordered the mango rum drink that tasted like watered down mango-ish liquid. We ordered. We frequent Indian restaurants on a weekly basis, and I have to say they didnt even have some of the basics on their menu. They were more interested in serving Indian FrooFroo food than being authentic. I suppose if you didnt know how indian food was SUPPOSED to taste- you might like it or even be impressed. We did not specify if we wanted Mild, Medium or hot. In all other restaurants, if you dont specify they make it mild. We ordered 2 entrees and some specialty naan. (which we had to explain to them how to make) About 45 minutes later (and there were only about 5 other partied in the whole place) we got our food. The rice portion was rather small (about 1/2 cup), and the entree consisted of about a cup of sauce and 4-5 small chunks of chicken. My dish was as hot as I have ever tasted Indian food. My wifes was so mild it was bland. Remember neither of us specified how spicy we wanted. She usually gets hot and couldnt even eat one piece of mine.We called the waitress over and explained that we never specified hot and she agreed it should have been mild when one doesnt specify, and wasnt sure why it was so hot. Now we had already placed 2 of the chunks on our plates as we had assumed we would be eating them. She told us she would have them redo it and bring it out when it was ready. As well as the naan which they didnt make right. The manager comes back out with what we thought was a sample of the newly made dish to see if it was mild enough. We said it was fine and he walked away. To our astonishment he actually was going to just give us the small dish (about 1/4 cup sauce and 2 small chunks of chicken) as our replacement entree. I think he though since the "way too hot" pieces were already on our plates that he didnt have to replace that portion (even though we had pushed them to the side with NO INTENTION of eating them). We asked him if he minded giving us the rest of the entree..and only then did he bring out the rest. It was like pulling teeth to get new rice too. At that point we were ready to leave. This restaurant is obviously hurting so bad they feel he need to skimp on just about everything, the drink, the entrees, the rice, the specialty toppings on the naan..and apparently they like to skimp on the responsibility of providing good service and attitude as well. How this guy became the manager I have no clue. Our waitress had an attitude with us and she was tipped accordingly. Actually considering the service we over tipped her. In hindsight...we should have gone across the street to Akbar. Do not be fooled by the pictures of this place. If you truly like good authentic Indian cuisine, this in NOT your place.

DECOR: Rich and spacious interior and tall ceilings complimented with gorgeous chandeliers. On Saturdays 6-9 pm you can enjoy Sitar (Indian musical instrument) recital by the talented Ryan Mc Bride. This is a good change than listening to shady Bollywood songs at such Indian joints. Unfortunately, no one pays attention to what Ryan is playing, everyone is too busy chatting loudly or eating. FOOD: We only tried Indo-Chinese menu items; Gobi Manchurian (appetizer) and Chilli Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice (main course). Both Manchurian and Chilli Chicken was tangy and based in tomato sauce (no way is it near to the soya sauce based authentic Indo-Chinese dishes). Also, the Fried Rice was very peppery and spicy. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND INDO-CHINESE AT INDIGMA. For desserts we ordered the Pistachio Kulfi. It was too sweet and we forced ourselves to finish it. SERVICE: The staff is very polite and friendly and the Manager periodically enquires about the food, service, performance, etc. PRICE: Indigma is not economical. Our total was $42 and the food is just not worth this price.

Indigma is a pretty nice, cross-Indian restaurant. Its definitely upscale and the prices definitely reflect that. I came here for dinner on Valentines Day and the ambiance was great-- intimate dining with great colors. The two pitfalls for the restaurant were poor service and so-so food. Certain dishes were great (avocado mango chaat) while others were straight bland (chicken cheera, mango lassi). The owner made several mistakes with my check and also brought out the wrong dish twice. Still, I feel like Indigma is a great restaurant and that my subpar experience was due to the high traffic this place was experiencing that night. I have yet to try the buffet but I have heard great things about it. The best thing this place has going for it is the uniqueness of the dishes; pineapple paneer, avocado mango chaat, rosemary naan, etc etc. Get: - Rosemary Naan - Paneer Makhani - Avocado Mango Chaat Dont Get: - Salt Lassi (tasted like plain milk) - Himalayan Rock Salt Naan (tasted like JUST chunks of salt) - Chicken cheera

This is my favorite restaurant in Baltimore. Wonderful service, great atmosphere, spectacular food. My wife is vegan and I am not, but at Indigma this is not a problem at all. Tony, one of the owners (and chefs, I believe) is always very accommodating to questions we have and takes time to explain things thoroughly. The food is relatively inexpensive for a nicer place, presented very well, and it tastes AMAZING. It is probably the most interesting food Ive ever eaten. It is complex in its simplicity, if that makes any sense. The martini list is ever-changing and Ive never had one that I didnt like (and at $9, they are a steal!) Ive read online that "this isnt authentic/great/spicy Indian food," and, well.. Its not. Its a fusion of cuisines mainly from India, but also from surrounding countries. If youre looking for good, traditional Indian food, go to Akbar up the street. I would highly recommend this to everyone, everywhere.

This was the third time we gave this restaurant a chance. The last time we were there, their waiter dropped a glassful of water on a perosn in our party and there were no apologies or even a comped soda. This time, it took them a good amount of time to seat us and then an hour till our order was taken. We found out the manager/owner is also the bartender and order taker. The reason he couldnt seat us right away even though 75% of the restaurant was empty was that he was making martinis. The ONE person they had working the floor did not understand any English. Then, they brought us the wrong dish. Our chai tasted horrible and trust me, I am Indian and make chai at home, so I know how hard it is to mess that up. The entrees came out lukewarm and the seekh kobab was downright cold. The lychee creme brulee had burnt sugar instead of caramelized. Overall, it was probably the worst dining experience weve had in years.

My husband and I love Indian food so we wanted to give this place a try. It was one disappointment after the next. None of the staples of Indian restaurant food were available, the service was slow and sloppy, and the most important part the food was lousy. Most of it was bland, not typical for Indian food. The rice was flavorless and dry. The only thing that was half decent was the chicken tikka masala, but only my husband order this and while he shared it with me since my food was gross, we left hungry. It seems like they are trying too hard to make modern or creative Indian food. I doubt the chef is Indian. If you like Indian, go down the street to Akbar we have been there 30+ times and never left the least bit disappointed.
