I love Indian cuisine, and over the years have visited a few locations in Baltimore. I finally had the opportunity to dine at the Memsahib near Lexington Market. According to the reviews, I cant for the life of me understand the rating. The decor is typical, they said the price for lunch buffet was one thing but I ended up paying a much higher price. the variety of foods were lacking, not on average as well stocked as others Ive dined. The food was barely warm, and there wasnt a lot to choose from. I requested a coke, and the man who waited my table brought me a warm soda in a can!!! not even a glass of ice, which I had to ask for. I COULDNT BELIEVE IT!!! And neither did he offer me a glass of water. When I paid the check, instead of $11.50 as advertised, my tab was $17.89, which wouldnt have been a question if the food was good. In my opinion, this place can never compare to the Akbar.

If youre looking for a very romantic place for your day, and something very affordable. Well this is the place to go and eat. The restaurants located in a corner of Eutah St. and Lexington Street, downtown Baltimore. Across the street from the Metro, a block away from University of Maryland, and four blocks away from the Orioles baseball stadium. The food is one of the best Ive ever eaten. He also has a dinner menu. They also have a location in downtown Rockville, and they have live belly dancing there in the evenings. The kids enjoy the atmosphere, I normally eat here at least three times a week. If you truly want to have an Indian experience, this is the place to go. Ray

First of all, I want to say the food and service here is nothing short of amazing. Simon, the manager is wonderful. He is always very polite and courteous and goes the extra mile to make sure everything is great. The food is awesome as well. Some of my favorite dishes are their fresh naan which they always have, the butter chicken, channa masala (chickpeas curry), samosas and of course their kheer. The food is always fresh and made in small batches and I always leave there completely full and usually overstuffed because I have overeaten. Sometimes the stomach wants...what the stomach wants. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant while walking in Inner Harbor. The surroundings did not look overly inviting, and we were cautious as we entered the restaurant. But the decorum and the atmosphere was superb. Their food tasted very healthy and tasty, their service was very personal and impeccable. A giant LCD screen plays some recent Hindi film songs, at a pleasant volume. Their dinner menu is fixed 3-course, with a couple choices in each course. They even brought us some yoghurt (not in menu) upon our request. Easily the best Indian dining experience in the US so far.

I went here with my Lebanese friend who told me that the buffet here is amazing. After I saw the surroundings, I was little apprehensive. But, the place is well decorated inside. And, I was not disappointed with the food either. This is, absolutely, one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. Food is amazingly good. When the bread was over, we casually asked one of the staff, if they have more bread. They brought hot bread directly to our table even though it was a buffet!! Very courteous staff. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to taste nice Indian food.

One of my classmates suggested we all go here for an end-of-semester lunch, and it was great! Ive never eaten much Indian food, so wasnt sure what to expect. It was a very comfortable atmosphere (nicer than I expected, since it is attached to Lexington Market, though it is its own separate restaurant) and had large tables with bench-style seating that was great for a large group. Since its a buffet, you can eat as much or as little as you want, and its easy to avoid anything too spicy if youre sensitive. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

I have visited every Indian restaurant in Baltimore and Memsahib is the best HANDS DOWN. Their food is superior in quality and taste, the service is very professional and friendly, They give very generous portions and are very reasonably priced. I dont eat dinner at any other Indian restaurant, anymore. Definitely give them a try when you are in the area.

Gorgeous decor and wonderful food to match. The rice was neither sticky nor dry, a balance almost impossible to find on a buffet. The samosas were a perfect size so as not to overwhelm the meal, and amazingly spiced. I could go on and on. This a gem of a restaurant hidden beside Lexington Market and very worth the trip to it.

The food here is standard Indian buffet fare, but its close to the University and so you see lots of UM people there. they always remember what you like to drink from visit to visit and thats the reason I went there for 10 years. I highly recommend it to anyone near lexington Market. Good food, good service.

Weekday lunch-only Indian buffet with a wide variety of dishes including a number of vegetarian options. A little expensive for lunch but the food and service are excellent. It can get down to the dregs at the end of the day (around 1:30 - 2:00pm), so get there early for the best food.

I normally dont give reviews but this place was an exemption. The food was amazing, it wasnt expensive, and the seating was great. I definitely recommend this place if your looking for some good food in Baltimore but dont have a lot to spend.
