Ill start out w the atmosphere, my favorite part. I like the bright colors, open layout kitchen (so I can look over and see the little Mexican cooks w their sombraos) and the fact that they have a juke box (not saying the music is always promising, but the option is there if you want to pay to change it). Early in the night its relaxing, relatively quiet and never extremely busy. Halfway through my meal it was slam packed, too loud and it seemed like suddenly every sloppy mess in town wanted Mexican drunk munchies...annoying. Its small so I felt cramped and rushed the rest of my dinner so I could leave, but before that I wasnt in a hurry. Food was definitely on the bland side so I asked for extra salsa & cinlantro; they do charge for these without notifying you...I was surprised when the bill came. Anyway when I went here the first time, a couple months back, I ordered their veggie enchilada which I was pretty pleased with (cant really mess up guacamole) but my girlfriend ordered puffy tacos n they stood out to me because of all the crunch! I returned for them and they went ghost! What a disappointment. Service was poor. It was seat yourself (which Im fine with but) they didnt even greet me when I came in and sat down. Through out the night, I felt ignored by the waiter who kinda treated me like I was some d-bag on the street giving him a hardtime or something, not a customer placing an order. Later on in the night, I was ignored and had to ask twice for something because I was forgotten. Overall...this place has potential but never quite lived up to my expectations, and I never set the bar all that high.

This is a great place for fresh food thats more Mexican-inspired than authentic. The restaurant itself is in a great location, with indoor and outdoor seating. Inside is somewhat cramped but the outdoor seating is especially nice when the weathers good. This is not the place to go if youre looking for very authentic Mexican food. Rather, what makes Taco Escobar good is the care taken in ingredient selection and assembly. There are a handful of different meats to choose from, and each taco or burrito comes heaping with incredibly fresh and delicious vegetables. A wide variety of hot sauces are available on request. The cocktails are also quite good. Very reasonable price for what you get. Its possible to have a decent meal here for under $10, depending on what your appetite is like. Good for meeting friends or having long weekend lunches. Probably not the best place for kids due to how tightly packed the restaurant can be.

We had SUCH a great time at Taco Escobarr! Yes, we had to wait a little for a table (maybe 30-45 minutes at 7PM) but the margaritas made it worth the wait. They have so many infused tequila flavors it keeps things very interesting. I LOVED the orange mango and my boyfriend really liked the strawberry jalapeno (definitely had a kick!) As for the food, the menu was a little small, but the tastes were amazing! I got the Al Pastor in soft corn tortilla tacos. OMG the meat melted in my mouth it was THAT tender. The portions were very small, which made the wait NOT worth it. We didnt even get chips with them. You had to order that separately. Luckily we were not very hungry at that point otherwise I wouldve been very disappointed. The tacos were the size of a hockey puck so if youre hungry get something else and an appetizer.

If you love authentic Mexican food then this is your place to go in Portland. Im a huge fan of Mexican food and this is bar far my #1 go to. The tacos cant be beat, and trust me Ive been to a lot of places. Any taco you get will be amazing and you dont need anything additional on them to flavor it besides what is already on there. No mixers are used in the margaritas here, because its not a real margarita if it just tequila and a mix (ew). I had Posole for the first time in New Mexico and it is AMAZING here. Honestly it is the only place I have been able to find that has it. The décor in the place is fun, staff are really friendly and you will have a great meal. Only downside to this place is its a little on the small side and can get really busy and have a wait at times.

My friends and I walked in last night and seated ourselves. We then preceeded to order drinks at the bar and were greated with the rudest bartender. First, she decided to loudly tell us that two guys were sitting where we were standing (we knew that, there was no where else to order and they were outside). My friend asked her how one of the drinks were and the bartender replied with a untasteful "sure". After that aweful experience we sat back at our seats. The cherry on top was when she preceded to tell the guys at the bar how hilarious that situation was. We were ignored and greeted with dirty looks for the rest of our time there. She was extremely unprofessional. However, the server was very nice to us. I would not come back because of this bartender.

Since moving to the USA, I havent had a decent taco or Mexican food. (I was born and raised in Mexico, and I am the granddaughter of a chef). I tried Zapoteca, but the quality is inconsistent (it was amazing when the chef and owner was there, but you can tell when she is not) and the prices are high. We came across this little place by serendipity. On a whim, we ordered the "tacos al pastor" and they were delicious! The only downside: there was no fresh salsa available! However, the flavor was so good I felt like it was not needed. Prices are very reasonable, service is great. The atmosphere is casual and quirky, so if you are looking for a quiet and upscale place, this is not your place. We are DEFINITELY coming back!

I had been here a few times previously and loved it. They used to have puff shells and a weekly fish special for the fish tacos. I went here last week and it was completely different. They no longer have a fish special is always fried white fish (tilapia). I ordered a veggie taco which in previous visits had been tasty grilled veggies this time was wet canned spinach! Honestly the only thing that distinguished this place and make me come back was the Puffy shells ...that they no longer make. You even have to pay for extra salsa. Ill be walking down the road to the Margaritas from now on ...even though i would rather eat a small local place taco escobarr has gone way down hill.

For starters, they are open until 1am, serving there full menu! The infused margaritas are amazing and the food is as great as the drinks! The food was delicious! They take simple classics and really make them special! Everything I have tried, I have loved! The service was also excellent! Very friendly and helpful, willing to answer questions and get margarita refills right away! Even down to the decor, this place has got it going on! A new favorite!

As an immigrant from Colorado with family in Las Cruces and El Paso, good Mexican is something Ive dearly missed since moving here. This isnt quite the same as what Im used to, but its done well, from the food to the presentation and atmosphere, and as close as youre liable to find in this part of the country. Theres only one other place as good as this and its further out of the way.
