Wife and I went there last night for restaurant week. Bottom line, we will not be going back. Place was completely packed so we were expecting a positive experience. Took a few minutes to get seated, no big deal. Got seated at a high top near the bar and it was all downhill from here. Took a few minutes before our server came over and tried to quickly take our drink order. While we were waiting for our server we realized we had not been given the restaurant week menu so we asked for them and the server ran away to get them. It took several minutes for her to bring the menu over during which time we realized that our server was also the only bar tender. Im no restaurant manager but to expect someone to not only make all the drinks for the entire bar but to also wait on at least a half dozen tables is completely ridiculous. We nearly got up and left knowing that our service was likely going to be horrible but we pushed on and ordered food. Should have gone with our first instincts and left. We ordered off the restaurant week menu which was nothing more than 3 apps, 3 entrees and 3 desserts off the regular menu priced at $35 dollars for a three course meal. A quick check of prices found that depending on what you ordered it would actually cost more to order off the restaurant week menu than to get everything separately off the regular menu. First app came quick unfortunately it was at least 10 or 15 minutes before we got our second app. Crazy! Sever did apologize when she realized what happened but because she was too busy handling the bar the damage had already been done. Apps were pretty good. We got the spring rolls and baby chimis. Entrees came fairly quickly after the second app arrived. I got the Carne asada and my wife got the shrimp and pineapple stir fry. Stir fry OK at best. Bell pepper pieces were way too big and rice seemed old. The steak was actually really good but the sides were horrible. Mashed potato seemed like it came from a box. Very blah. The corn medley was horribly nasty. Dried up frozen corn and canned black beans. Must have been made days ago. Might have been okay when first made but was horrible last night. For desserts we got the chocolate avocado mousse cake and the flan. Flan was acceptable but cake was nasty. Dried out and had a very odd taste to it. As we were eating dessert we noticed that one of the people working the kitchen was eating and cooking food at the same time. Was eating with his glove covered hands and then using the same glove covered hands to cook and prep food. Absolutely disgusting to watch. If I had noticed before we ate we would have run away as fast as we could. Stay away. This place needs some serious new management in both the front and back of ther house.

Our second trip here will be our last. first trip, about a year ago was good. A bit pricey for the quality but overall ok. Our second trip, yesterday, was decidedly not good. Our server was quite nice but overwhelmed. One server and one helper is not enough for a Saturday night. The food was meh at best. Not sure if the chefs are new but they didnt quite get the hang of blending flavors. My sons pulled pork sandwich overwhelmingly tasted of spice. Could not taste the pork or marinade. It wasnt hot spicy, just one flavor was all that could be tasted. The chimichanga I ordered was not crispy as it should have been (side note it was constructed oddly so that one end was all pork, then rice, etc. you could not get a bite where the ingredients were mixed). The flan I ordered came with a balsamic orange glaze (not noted on the menu). When it was set down the smell of balsamic was overwhelming and again, that was all that could be tasted. Personally I love balsamic, but not straight shots of it and this is what the flan tasted like. I could not that the flan or the orange. Overall it was a long slow dinner (again not the servers fault) that was very disappointing.

So I used to come here several times per week because it was AWESOME...then the Chef left and they had a total change in staff and it wasnt good. I tried it again tonight...for the first time in over a year...and Im painfully reminded as to why I stopped coming. When I ordered my drink it came and it wasnt what I had ordered...when I explained that to the waitress I got an eye roll and a sigh and an attitude...so I just said nevermind Ill have a diet soda. I then explained that I have Celiac and asked if the quest dip was gf...and she said yeah Im pretty sure. I asked if she could check due to my allergy and was greeted with another sigh. I guess Ill give my business to Guerrero Maya where the food is excellent, half the cost and the service is always with a smile. I will say the manager did come over and try to pacify me (and I HATE to complain in a restaurant...Id just leave my meal and quietly pay my bill normally)....but theres no fixing it; literally every single thing was wrong or terrible and this place isnt even busy! Go to Guerrero Maya....this is my public service announcement!

Being a relocated Texan, I had a craving for Mexican food. My wife ordered the shrimp tacos and I ordered the " Fire of the Dead" burrito. Shrimp tacos were very good, burrito, not so much. The burrito came with a warning that it was very hot. Ive grown up eating jalapeños and habaneros straight, and like foods flavored with ghost peppers, heat is not a problem for me. While the burrito was certainly hot, it was simply not edible. The habanero sauce they use is REALLY sweet, and there was simply way too much of it on the burrito. I couldnt make out the flavor of the chicken, steak, rice, or beans, just the sickly-sweet habanero sauce. Heres a word of advice; spices are supposed to be an accent and provide flavor and contrast to the dish, not overpower everything else. When the goal is just to make something really hot, people wont eat it. Not because its too hot, but because it just doesnt taste good. Anyhow, stay away from that particular burrito, and stick to the milder fare (which seems to be where the chef actually knows what hes doing).

First of all, I cant speak highly enough of the service! I felt instantly welcomed and our server had such a positive attitude and personality. So friendly and accommodating, which seems hard to come by nowadays. I had the watermelon jalapeño margarita and it was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The complimentary cornbread was a great change of pace from a typical chips and salsa. My husband and I both got burritos, mine with chicken and his with steak. The chicken had such a wonderful flavor without having too much going on. I got chicken because typically if I get steak in a burrito, its too chewy. I took a bite of my husbands burrito and that was not the case. It was melt in your mouth tender! I had one of the best tasting meals here that I can ever remember having. I highly recommend.
