Big shout-out to poor service, overpriced food, and a loud and frankly dismal atmosphere. Ordered the Works, and was disappointed at every dish. The word flaccid comes to mind. Chicken tasted like pork. Pork tasted like nothing. Steak tasted like pork. Sausage tasted like Slim Jims. Baked beans were fresh out the can and cold. Waited for water for about a half hour. Altogether, I went home gassy and 50 dollars lighter, with nothing in my heart but the massive amount of cholesterol contained in their buttered meats. Gonna be honest, I dont know what the hell anyone else reviewing this place was thinking. Just because the service is service doesnt mean you have to ham it up for them. Dont sugarcoat this restaurant it doesnt deserve it. Would not recommend to a starving African child. Five Guys is literally like five minutes away. Take your date there. Theyll respect your taste at least.

Worth the visit! As a vegetarian all I hoped for walking in was some mac n cheese but boy was I pleasantly surprised by the menu! Between the black bean burger, the quesadilla, the nachos and the flatbread I actually had a tough time deciding what to order, it all sounded so good! Eventually I settled on the quesadilla... Absolutely loaded with cheese and packed with caramelized onions and grilled peppers. I would consider this quesadilla an exceptional value. I will definitely be going back to try everything else they have to offer.

Had dinner in here on a Friday night recently. The place was busy as the crowd for the theater place up the road was still there - but we got a seat at the bar. Its a funky place - an old dry cleaners I believe - and a little bit hip, but without being pretentiously so (Id say). Decent beer selection (although a touch pricey). The food was excellent. The brisket in particular was amazing. I consider myself a bit of a barbeque snob, and its definitely on a par with the best. I just wish it was a touch cheaper (dont we all)!

If not southern Maines best BBQ its in the top 5. They offer 3-4 styles of BBQ, 4 types of sauces, 3-4 types of meat, a full bar with craft beers, desserts if you have room and lots of napkins. Indoor & outdoor seating, although out is only about 6 tables. Service is always good. The restrooms are clean. The front doors may be difficult to get through with any aid or assisting device. Most of the parking is street side.

I visited Elsmere on Saturday night, our waiter (whos name I sadly forget!) was so funny and a great asset to the restaurant. Two friends and I had nachos and some beer at one of the high tops--the stols with small backs were great. The fire in the wood grill was blazing, the pac man game was available, the atmosphere was cozy, modern, friendly and cool. Its a laid back gem. Great beer selection. Highly recommended!

Oh you lucky South Portlanders that have this in your backyard. Fantastic food, but the chicken, yes, the chicken, might have been my favorite...smoky, tender awesomeness. Everything else was great too (ribs, brisket, wings), but that chicken has me hooked. Great beer selection, nice vibe and Lauren at the bar is a rockstar. Cant wait to get back here.

Food is decent but the dining experience was unacceptable. Flies buzzed around us as we ate and a large dog was permitted to be in the eating area outside where we were going to go in an effort to escape the flies but then decided against it.

Elsmere is a gem I recommend folks travel across the bridge for. Youre in for some really solid Texas Style BBQ. Their claim to fame is their brisket, but theres just something about the ribs for me that keeps me coming back.

Brisket was flavorful and cold pulled pork was dry and cold sausage was ok. Corn bread and cold slaw were tremendous. It sure why one would serve Barbecue right out of the refrigerator.
