I would give -1 if I could. Avoid this place... I cant imagine anyone eating a meal here and coming back. Our salad was wilted and random stuff on the vegetables. I wanted to try some authentic Maine clam chowder and got what looks like Campbells soup...a watery, flavorless mess. No joke. Nachos might have been microwaved, I got no sign that the chips hit the oven. Crazy for such a happening area as Freeport. We honestly left our complete meals with a napkin over them, disappointingly paid just so we could get out of there. Waitress didnt seen to care we didnt touch our plates... could have said something but would they have even cared? Oh, did I mention the table next to us wanted ice cream? They were out of it and told the customer they were running to the store to get some... came back with a CVS bag! Theres a Ben & Jerrys right down the street! Beware, everything we saw showed us they cut back costs on quality, perishables, care, cleanliness and attention to detail. Trust me. If you dont, go read my wifes review.

I wish I could rate this a zero. My husband and I wanted to try it out due to the nice outdoor patio but regretted it once we sat down. We ordered drinks and mine had a hair in it. I thought ok no big deal, it happens. Big mistake to think that. Our food came and I ordered a simple garden salad, the description sounded nice. Wrong! Rotten pieces of salad, cheese and other food items were in my salad when they shouldnt have been there. Barely took a couple bites before I completely lost my appetite. My husband ordered nachos, another easy enough dish. Wrong! They should be called microwaved nachos and a pile of canned chilli on top. Oh and I forgot to mention the water based clam chowder he had. I thought we were in Maine? Last comment, a customer ordered ice cream. They were out so the manager ran out to CVS to get some!! Theres at least a Ben & Jerrys right down the block!! Do not go here!!!! Save yourself and your money.

Wow incredible food and prices, we were so impressed when we had dinner there on Sunday the place was loaded and it was 2PM we thought we would miss the lunch rush and beat the dinner crowd. As did all the other dinners on that rainy day. No matter we were seated and and waited on promptly. As was everyone there. The very BEST Clam chowder I have ever had the clams were so fresh and the cream they were in was heavenly. Dont pass them by. They have an excellent staff and treat you like your the only ones that matter, the same as every other group at each table. Wow we wish we could eat there every weekend. We Loved them so much we will come back with friends.

My boyfriend and I decided to go to freeport last night. We went to this tavern and it was horrible. Not only was the service lacking in all areas it possibly could, but also the food was not up to par with the expensive prices. The portions were so small.. and my salad looked like it had been on someones plate before mine. I would advised no one to try this restaurant out if you are roaming around freeport. oh and FYI, I was throwing up last night, and Im pretty sure it was from the food I ate there. Not fresh, and a hazard to human society.

The haddock chowder and clam chowder were the best I have ever had! We really enjoyed them. I had Seafood Alfredo, the muscles were cold and the scallops were gritty, but the noodles and sauce were excellent...the wait staff was very slow...took 30 minutes to get our food - after we has finished our cups of chowder and we ordered it at the same time. Wait staff seems to not care about the customers and they were very slow to move. We will definitely go back despite the wait time. Next time we are going simple chowder and lobster rolls.

Just had an awful meal at Jamesons Tavern in downtown Freeport. The restaurant is in a lovely colonial-era building, but the food could gag a maggot. We ordered Lobster Rolls. The lobster was sickeningly not fresh. The smell sickened one of my companions to the point that she had to leave the restauarant. The only flavor in any of the seafood entrees or appetizers was that of freezer burn. Prices were extremely high as well. The restaurant only appeared to have one employee. Avoid this place like the plague.

Small tavern on a side road in Freeport. Ate there on a whim and had a terrific dinner. The prices a reasonable and the portions are more than fair. My sister and I ordered crab cakes, salads, shrimp & fries and baked seafood dish. All passed the taste test. The waitress was efficient...never wrote a thing down and forgot nothing. Checked on us several times. Kudos Jamestown Tavern youve earned 5 stars from me.

We went here to get seafood and walked away feeling like we got mediocre value. The seafood scampi had good flavor, but hardly any lobster. The other bits (shrimp, muscles and scallops) were there and in good supply. The 1 1/2 lb lobster was somehow smaller than the 1 1/4 lb lobster I had the next day. We probably wouldnt do this one again, there are just better bangs for your buck nearby.

Jsmeson Tavern has changed in the last couple of years. The quality isnt what it used to be.. The food was okay but not anything great. My chowder was served lukewarm. The blueberry pie, while homemade, tasted awful and the crust wasnt cooked except on the end. I ordered one bar drink and I felt like I paid ten dollars for a glass of pineapple juice. It was very disappointing overall.

Service and atmosphere is good, but food has been going downhill! Last visit, the beef was tough and the grilled chicken tasted like fish! We got charged an 18% gratuity since we had 7 in our party-4 adults, 2 children under 5 and an infant. We will definitely look to eat somewhere else when we go to Freeport again!

A historic Maine place with good beer and great food. Staff has always been friendly and never had a problem with food. Its a good place for lunch when shopping around. There isnt a ton of seating in the dining area or at the bar. The haddock is good here but Id avoid the crab melt, wasnt as good as I expected

Went to Jameson Tavern after a shopping spree at LL Bean. Very practical location since the restaurant is right across the street. The food was good, the portions overly generous (wasnt able to empty all my plate). The waitress was friendly and efficient. Nothing bad to say. It was a pleasant experience.

Went for a early dinner and it was very quiet and service was slow. Nice staff though and the place has a nice historic feel about it. Decent pub menu with great seafood options and a decent selection of things for kids. Reasonably priced for the area. They have their own parking behind the place.

They tried to pass off a 1 lb, very-soft-shell lobster for a 1 1/2 pounder. Waitress became very defensive, and later admitted it was true when she brought out extra lobster meat to compensate. This place has been a favorite for a long time but the new owners wont last long with scams like this.
