Should you eat here? Absolutely. With that out of the way, here is why ... We entered the TK&B on a Monday night relatively near closing time. Yet, we were greeted with the sort of friendliness, professionalism and energy you come to expect at the beginning of the day. That service excellence remained consistent throughout and proved exceptional on two occasions. The ambiance, accentuated by decor paying homage to Bangors logging days was soft and subtle but, like a good art exhibit, guided the eye across many unique variances from your typical fare. From the grandiose maitre ds podium welcoming you at the entrance, made of an overturned trunk and roots to well finished wood floors. From rough timber walls interrupted by sections of moss to table decor like river stones vases with a single spring of rosemary and non-intrusive lightning everything was done with much taste and little distraction. All that, however, did not save us for seating ourselves near a group of people who enjoyed themselves a few octanes higher than we could appreciate. Within a rather short time the maitre d came over on his own accord and offered without further ado to seat us elsewhere. We ordered drinks, appetizers, main dishes, and enjoyed desert as well. The drink, Indian Summer, was one of the best mixed drinks Ive had in recent time. Fresh ingredients, no artificial flavors, well balanced for sweetness and bitterness, it was a welcome companion throughout the meal. The appetizers, roasted goat cheese and crab cake were delicious as well, though the crab cake could have been moister and have rougher texture for my personal taste. The main courses, a pork assortment and halibut were in concord with our experience so far except for the piece of halibut itself that came leathery on the outside and completely dry on the inside. As it stood out as the singular negative experience so far I remarked on it to our server and pointed out that the rest of our meal was truly well prepared. The manager came over immediately, apologetic, explaining that they may have ended up with an inferior quality batch of fish and that they had tried to cook it differently as prior results were not up to par as well. Personally, from a cooking standpoint, the full explanation made sense to me and the remedy offered was more than satisfactory. We completed our meal with desert and a cappuccino - all of good taste and superior presentation. The coffee especially, and I consider myself a coffee snob, made a positive impression on me. My compliments to the TK&B staff and we will see you again soon.

Visited last night, 09.24.16 at 630pm. There were six of us in the party. The very polite gentleman at the front advised us that we could sit outside if we wanted, otherwise there would be a wait, as we did not think to call for reservations. We were absolutely fine sitting outside, were used to chilly September Maine evenings. P.S. they have heaters mounted outside. We were greeted by Sylvia, our server for the evening. Sylvia was extremely knowledgeable about menu items that we asked her about, was helpful and quick to offer suggestions. We enjoyed brief conversation with her at the table when she frequently checked in on us to refill drinks and take away items that we were finished with. We also conversed with a younger gentleman cleaning tables that was also knowledgeable about the menu items, and raved about the management and working conditions. The food was amazing! We tried the spinach and artichoke dip which was delicious! The only suggestion that I would have is changing the chip to dip ratio. We had few chips, much dip. I had lobster bisque which was one of the best tasting bisques that I have had in a long time. It was so good! Sylva brought out a small bread basket with great bread, and whipped butter. The oatmeal raisin was delish. For my meal I had the costal shellfish stew. Great flavor, variety of shellfish as the name would suggest. My fiance had a burger which he said was really good, others tried the pizza which they enjoyed. Dessert options were plenty. Being a chocoholic, I opted for the chocolate mouse. See photo. More than enough to share a few bites with the table, and just enough to eat it all yourself...if you wanted! We were there a few hours, so many tables outside had cleared out. We noticed that the staff was quick to turn the tables over for new guests. We moved over to comfy wicker chairs and couches by the fireplace and enjoyed another round of drinks then finally called it a night. We will definitely return. Prices are what youd expect to pay for amazing, top notch quality food. Many options on menu for all types of eaters. Sylvia, fantastic server, hope to have her again! Photos: lobster bisque, and chocolate mouse.

Can I give Timber MORE than 5 stars!?!?! Pretty please!? Begin your dining experience with a cocktail made with fresh berries and herbs plucked right from a glass on the bar. From a Moscow Mule to a Blackberry Ginger Shrub to a glass of Country Thyme Lemonade, you wont be disappointed in your beverage choice. Move on to appetizers and your main dish, all fresh, seasonal and locally sourced, beautifully presented on the plate. Enjoy good food and even better service surrounded by upscale Maine ambiance - lots of wood, plaid flannel and natural colors and textures. Weve been to Timber several times over the past year and each time walk away even more impressed and secure in the knowledge that Timber is the best thing to happen to downtown Bangor in a very long time. p.s. be sure to go check out the restrooms. Very cool decor and well worth the trip! Update: More stars for TImber!!!We went to Timber for Fathers Day Sunday Suppah (aka brunch).$25 per person for more food than you can eat. You choose an appetizer, two sides for the table to share, then a main course. There are also two or three carving station options included. Each table also receives a basket of popovers with honey butter and strawberry rhubarb compote. I had the smoked salmon fully loaded with capers, dill, cream cheese, red onion on bruschetta, followed by a mini maple waffle, then my main course was the potato and beet hash with Eggs Benedict. My husband opted for the pork belly lollipops and blueberry pancakes. We shared whipped potatoes and creamy cheese grits. Everything was delicious. I had a blood orange mimosa and my husband had the Bloody Mary. We are never disappointed when we dine at Timber. The service was a bit slow, which wasnt surprising considering it was Fathers Day and they had lots of large parties eating, but the restaurant is so charmingly rustic, that sitting sipping a mimosa while waiting certainly is no hardship.
