I went a while back with some co-workers of mine and had an experience like no other. Out of the six days working in the area, four of those nights were spent in this lovely eatery. The lobster pots, mussels, clams, etc. are the crown jewel and worth the extra coin. The lobster is as fresh as it gets. The lobster holding pens are the first thing that greet you as you walk in. The seared tuna is impeccable, the clam chowder is authentic and delicious. The berry pies are absolutely devine. We were greeted with such warm hospitality and the longest wait was around 20 minutes. Get there early if you can as the place fills up quickly for dinner. I have traveled across the country for the past 20 years and Ive yet to find a place quite like it. Its definitely one of the top 10 restaurants Ive had the pleasure of visiting. Kuddos to the owner as he greeted us one night and shared his inspiration of the place, and the food on the menu. I cannot wait until the day that I go back and enjoy the rest of the menu...

Service und Essen sehr gut. Parken auch mit 30" RV möglich. Trotz großem Andrang gegen 19:30 Uhr nach etwa 20 Min. Wartezeit einen Tisch bekommen. Es wird nicht reserviert. First come, first serve... Lobster und deren Zubereitung kann man beobachten. Ambiente etwas rustikal aber dafür zwanglos. Im Vergleich zu anderen regionalen Restaurants absolut preiswert.

I really enjoyed my Seafood Caesar Salad, but probably it was the only good thing in our dining experience at Union River Lobster Pot tonight. For appetizers we got to share a Crab Dip and a Clam Chowder. Both dishes were just warm, while Id really like it hot. Clam chowder has a lot of potato taste in it, not that creamy and while still had clams in it there was barely any seafood taste in broth. And I also tried a little of my husbands entree, he got a Broiled Halibut with green beans, rice and a homemade bread. It was very plain and not hot again. Definitely lacked seasoning. Overall, it was an ok experience. But I dont think Id come back.

My husband & I stumbled upon this place last summer while visiting family in Stonington. During our 2 week visit we ate here twice thoroughly enjoying each meal. The Seafood Casserole is superb, although a bit on the high side, but it does have all of the most popular seafood choices as ingredients. The service is top notch, the atmosphere pleasant & friendly. We have just left the restaurant after another fine meal & certainly will be returning many more times as were fortune enough to be spending the summer here this year.

My friend and I waited an hour to get a table so keep that in mind during tourist high season. Aside from the wait, the food was fantastic. We each got a Shore dinner which included lobster, coleslaw, clams, mussels, and clam chowder -- and I topped it off with some blueberry pie which is simply a must when visiting Maine. Delicious. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The dining area itself is simple but elegant -- right next the Union River so there is some nice atmosphere and fresh air to be enjoyed with the meal.

This was our first time to Maine. We decided to stay in Ellsworth instead of Bar Harbor and we are so glad that we did. The Union River Lobster Pot was a reason enough to stay there. We ate there four times while we were there for six days. The lobsters, blue berry pie and corn on the cob was the best in the area. The breading though on the seafood platter was not good at all. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The lobster dinner was good, and worth the drive up from MD, but I doubt I would have made a point of visiting from TX. The open face summer blueberry pie, on the other hand, was worth it. I think the waitress thought I was a bit funny in the head, buying an extra four slices, just for the road (we were driving every day for the next four days), but my only regret was not buying more. Worth every mile and every penny.

Whole lobsters were great. Comparing fish chowder, clam chowder and lobster chowder, fish was the best. Lobster chowder was watery, tasteless. Lobster au gratin also watery with little flavor. Steak also average and $$. Disappointed given the cost. Blueberry pie Ala mode was fabulous. Creme brulee only average. Service outstanding by "Sam" served on the screened porch overlooking a pretty stream.

Wonderful food. I split the fried seafood platter with a friend and it was still too much food. The fried shrimp were tender and perfect. The clams and fish were lovely. The clam chowder was great and different than any other place Ive had it. The staff were cheerful and friendly. This was a highlight of our stay.

This is a real restaurant that does the lobster thing well. When that gets old, they also have many many other seafood dishes and fresh fish. Also...steaks, cocktails, local draft brew, and home made pies. Everything we ordered was excellent (even the kids meals). Comfy and good service. Yep!

This place is totally cool! This was our first time in Maine and we decided to come down and get lobster here from previous reviews. We got the lobster pot special which came with a 1.25lb lobster, a dozen littleneck clams, a cob of corn, and potato. Good stuff! Worth the trip!

We had the planked salmon, mussels & lobster for dinner and the summer berry crisp & blueberry pie for dessert. All of it was delicious! Be warned that they dont take reservations and the wait can reach 45 minutes in the summer, but it is worth the wait.

Have been here a few times over the last many years. Never disappointed by the food. Casual dining on good (sea)food that is well prepared in a comfortable eating environment. Pleasant, not fancy. Service/wait staff is attentive but not intrusive.

Best lobster roll in ME! Luckily, we did not have to wait a long time for our table. We also enjoyed the seating outside by the river with our blueberry martinis. If theres a long wait, just wait and enjoy the tranquil river with a drink!

Have been traveling the coast for a few days...this was by far our best dinner. Pleasant staff, great surroundings and perfectly prepared food. Price was reasonable as well. Scallops were excellent.

Very cute interior. Food is pricy (try $20 an entre). Not skimpy on clans in chowder, but not skimpy on potatoes either. Service was fast. This gets 5 not a 4 because the pies are to die for.

Great lobster. Good cajon salmon salad. Good kids meals. Great service. Get there early if you dont want to wait in line. As with most places in Maine, a tad expensive.
