Went to visit this establishment and was greeted by a friendly bar tender and then that was it!!!! The owner who was sitting at the end of the bar was very reactive when asked if they had a WiFi available! The answer she gave me was a very angry no! When I noticed they had a WiFi I asked, I see your wifi is active I guess you dont offer it to customers, again a very rude no! The bar tender never offered me a menu , I was hungry! The owner spent the next half hour eating and talking to the bartender! What owner eats at the bar while guests are present and if that does happen at least make sure the guest is offered a menu! I finally had to ask if could get another drink! I wonder if they knew I was a person who evaluates certain area venues for the cruise ship industry they would of treated me any different! This place gets a zero and I recommend when visiting in the summer months to try the dog and pony, they love there customers weather their local or out of town guests!

I was really looking forward to checking out this restaurant given its reviews on Yelp (which are misleading compared to the ones on Google). After eating here, however, I was extremely disappointed. From the moment we arrived, it was uncomfortable. What kind of establishment openly plays KKK videos (might have been a documentary, but still) on their large screen TVs? This one, I guess. Additionally, the service was painfully slow and our waitress was suspiciously cold towards our table, but friendly to other tables. The food was okay and while its a great place if youre on a budget (given the number of dinner specials), I do not recommend.

We were in Bar Harbor for 4th of July. It started raining. We ran up the street and around the corner and into the Thirsty Whale. We scored two seats at the bar, and were attended to by Keegan. He did an awesome job. The burger was awesome... 8 oz... vwry tasty. Great fries. Good selection of cheese and excellent mushrooms. Hit the spot. The bar is fairly well-stocked. A nice selection of scotch. Keegan was very attentive and took good care of us. The prices were very reasonable. We had a great meal, the rain stopped, we went back to the fireworks. Highly recommended.

Local hang out that delivers excellent fish sandwiches and a fantastic whale salad! (no whales were harmed in the making of the salad!) It is a locals place, but everyone is welcome. If you are not from Bar Harbor and you dont mind a little Mainer slang you should definitely stop by for an experience. The Allagash White Beer....well....is the best thing they have on tap. But then again, I am partial to Belgium beer. Check it out and have a great time!!!

Walked into a mostly empty place for lunch. We sat at a table for over 10 minutes while we were totally ignored by the bartender who only cared to talk with her friends and by the only waitress working who was more interested in eating, playing with her phone and randomly walking around. After feeling totally invisible we decided to leave and go eat elsewhere. If youre not a local or a friend of a staff worker, avoid.

Stopped in here on a Bar Harbor trip and this place is not bad. If you are coming here for a full dinner, this place is more like bar food with sandwiches and burgers and some seafood entrees but mostly appetizers. However good comfort food and a great selection of beers, Smoked Gouda grilled cheese was tasty and portions are huge. Best part, the staff is friendly and service is welcoming and fast. Prices are decent.

pub vivace, con possibilità di cenare. buone ma un po piccoli i lobster roll, buoni clam chowder e onion rings e anche la birra. si spende poco più di 20 dollari a testa senza dessert.

Good clean flavors. Went twice, first night we all ordered lobster rolls with cup of chowder. Cold crisp fresh lobster flavor. Hearty portion, and probably one of the lesser expensive lobster rolls here in town. Second night we had fish and chips, soups and salads. The haddock (fish/chips) was 4 deep fried sticks, tender flaky and moist. The wait was about 20 minutes... Well worth it.

Such a cute place!! We loved it here. Our waitress was great and the food was good. We got lucky and got there just before the dinner rush. Apparently there is normally a long wait. Also, dont let the weird and socially awkward teenage girl they have at the front with the wait list be off putting. Shes a little frustrating to talk to, but once you get inside everyone else is great!

Had to wait twice as long as we were told for our table. Owner was rude, didnt make us feel welcome and was overheard making nasty comments about other customers loudly which started a fight and made us uncomfortable during our meal. Didnt feel like food or atmosphere was that great. There are WAY more places with friendly staff and better food in Bar Harbor.

The best Clam chowder Ive tried in my life! And I live in Boston so I know what a good chowder is. Service was amazing, our waitress gave us a lot of great recommendations, was very attentive and made our dining experience pleasant. I liked the price point of this restaurant and the food was amazing, big portions too. Would definitely recommend to visit!

LE clam chowder est le meilleur de la region. Lassiette du fisherman est delicieuse et suffit a nourrir deux personnes. Service tres sympa et prix plus quhonnete.

Ate at the bar, and Adam was the bartender. Hes one of the best bartenders Ive had in many years, and I dont say that lightly. The lobster bisque was amazing. My wife loved her fish and chips and my fish tacos were great! Lots of fresh veggie salsa and not fried fish. Great drinks and tasty beer. Also, the kitchen was open until 11. Great spot!

Great place to go get lunch. My wife and I enjoyed our experience at the Thirsty Whale. Our waitress was top notch, the food was very good, and the prices were some of the best in Bar Harbor. I had the Lobster Roll and my wife had the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The portions were nice size and they had some great Beer selections on tap.

Went Last Sunday around 9pm and meet the Rudest Bartender ever. She actually yelled at us for changing our minds before she even pored the beer. I have never been spoken to that way from anyone working for tips. They dont have bar menu and the bar was dirty and sticky. Was over all the worst experience I have ever had at a bar.

We dropped by here for dinner during the off-season, and this place was overflowing with locals. It was a great experience all the way around. Food was top-shelf (lobster roll!) and the atmosphere was bustling. A really fun time - take-home souvenir pint glass with the logo and town name was just $5. Highly recommended!

This place was simply excellent! My wife got the lobster roll and said it was tasty, I got the blackened fish and chips and it was amazing! Had the hard cider they had on draught and it went perfectly with the fish. Service was indeed bustling, but our waitress always stopped by to see how we were.
