My wife have reflected several times since our meal at Havana last night, and cant remember ever having had a better dining experience. The service was great, and the food was amazing. We started with the "local mussel moqueca" and a special soup for the evening, a black bean lobster bisque. The mussels were nicely done, but the bisque was superb. We joked with the server that we should stop the meal after the bisque because we couldnt imagine it getting any better. For the main course, my wife had the filet barbocoa. The preparation ordered was medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. The filet was served on top of a bed of mashed potatos and with a splash of mojo sauce. My wife and I eat filet quite often, and this dish was remarkable. I ordered the lobster paella. Again, the mixture of flavors and textures were excellent. The dish included ample lobster, shrimp, and mussels. Absolutely wonderful! We ordered and shared a flan desert and a flight of muscat wines. It was a nice finish to a perfect meal. Along the way, I enjoyed three of their original drinks: a mojito, a caipairinha, and their Havana martini. All three were noticeably original and fresh. Even though the placed was packed, the service was prompt and professional. Our server was very attentive and professional, but, on two occassions, the management staff rotated through to make sure our needs were being met. If you make the trip to Bar Harbor, dont miss this dining experience!

We heard this was the place to eat in Bar Harbor, but did not expect it to be SO great. Sat down at the time of our reservation, received salutations and water (choose which type), and our waiter was very personable. First, they brought bite-sized salmon mousse for all of us, then amazing blueberry bread with heat, along with freshly made whole grain bread with three choices of spreads, all delicious! We had the mussels and tuna tartare appetizers which were both amazing. The lobster dish was the best, as the broth was so flavorful; the seafood paella was the best Ive had and loaded with great seafood; others in our group had the coulotte steak (sauce is so yummy!), the "pork and beans" (not what it sounds like), and the filet; all were cooked exactly as requested and far exceeded expectations! There were fun and tasty non-alcoholic drinks for the under 21s, which they really liked, and I loved my Havana Martini. The owner came to ask us how everything was and we got to speak to him a bit, which was very nice. Our water glasses were filled up to even already getting the check. Our kudos to the owner, his chef, and the staff; all did a stellar job!

Another big failure. Just like many "TOP" restaurants in Bar Harbor, this one was also OVERRATED. I seriously reviewed yelp and google to find the best restaurants in the town. I only desired to eat good food that would just make me happy to eat and pay. For those people who say this restaurant is amazing, I bet they drank. Their taste buds were blocked by excessive alcohol consumption. Scientific study shows that drinking confuse people from good food from bad food. In this restaurant, this is what happen. I honestly think if you want great interior design with fancy table and many utensils for no reason, you should go here without a doubt. But if you want great food that is going to give you what MAINE is like, you must avoid this place. You will only be disappointed. I was there to order lobster macaque and lobster cake and my brother ordered mixed seafood thingy (honestly dont remember the name or dont even want to). They were not good. So..... choice is yours. If you want to be like everyone else and spend lot of money, please go here. If you are like me who want good food and pay them happy, DO NOT GO HERE.

My wife and I dined here on the last night of our vacation in Bar Harbor and this was by far the best place at which we dined. The vibe is very classy and high end. There appeared to be many wealthy folks there the night we went (just dont wear ripped jeans and a tie dye shirt and youll be fine). I had the lobster dish of which I cannot remember the proper name. She had the scallops. Both were perfectly cooked and extremely flavorful. Our server was very pleasant and cheerful. Both the owner and his wife stopped by our table to ask how everything was (and not in a disingenuous or pretentious way). They were very genuine and conversational. It seems so trivial but I believe that alone speaks volumes about the quality of a restaurant. And lastly, although the prices are a little higher, they were not bad considering the quality of the food, atmosphere, and overall experience.

The atmosphere inside the restaurant is warm & comfortable. However, there are a lot of swinging doors u need to go through to get to the back dinning room. With this said, the food was delicious and i am glad i went here for dinner. However, i must make a comment about the crab cakes. They were disappointing. The night before I went to Fathom and had crab cakes and was doing my own research here at Havana, with some rather high expectations. I have to say "dont order the crab cakes" they are over cooked and mushy. On the boarder of being sent back. If you want stellar crab cakes go to Fathom. Awesome! Sorry to piss in Havanas cheerios, however they need to step up their crab cake game. cheers

Just went to Havana. After reading all of the great reviews I was pretty excited to try the hanger steak. I typically enjoy my steaks medium rare but I usually order medium when out to err on side of caution. Unfortunately even after sending my steak back (which I cant remember ever doing) it was still way to rare for my liking. The waitress was very nice even after my complaint. She was very apologetic and she had the steak taken off bill. The complimentary meatballs were excellent, the bread was good and the halibut my girlfriend had tasted pretty fresh. They also had a good cocktail, wine, and beer selection.

Havana. From beginning to end, the attention to detail of the food was amazing. All of the courses were full of flavors and cooked to perfection. While our meals were amazing, the thing that stole the show was the cornbread. It is a rare thing that something free that comes with the meal is so good. It came with several dipping sauces. Overall this was the best place that we ate at, although Bar Harbor does have a surprising amount of good ones. Even 4 months later, we are still drooling over the quality and flavors that this place served us. Definitely going back as soon as we can get back to Bar Harbor!

Granted, my husband nor I have ever had Cuban food, so without a basis for comparison our final take on this place is that it would be wonderful for half the price. I had the Saffron Paella and it was good, not great. My husband had the Jerk Chicken and stated he makes better at home on our grill. The flavors were not proportionate to the price. The service was good. The atmosphere was a little stuffy for our taste, but I guess when you pay nearly $30 per entree, that tends to eliminate most of the middle class, which we are.
