Two weeks ago, for an early Valentine’s Day dinner, I took my girlfriend to Dakota Restaurant. Our server, Blaine, recommended a couple of very good white wines and also the Shrimp Napoleon for our appetizer. WOW!!! The Shrimp Napoleon was absolutely stupendous. For entrées, we had the Mixed Grill (Seafood), Crab-Brie Soup, and Mirliton Casserole. The Mixed Grill and Crab-Brie soup were both exceedingly good. I’m not a big Brie fan, but the way in which it was prepared in the soup was fantastic. The Mirliton Casserole left a little to be desired, but it was still good. Then it was on to the dessert. We chose the Brûlée Banana Split. Holy smoke!!!! That was one heck of a dessert. To sum our night at Dakota, we had a wonderful time enjoying not only the great food and drinks, but also the great service from Blaine. We will be back.

The best soft shell crab dish in Louisiana. Great rack of Lamb and Porterhouse Steak. All appetizers are delicious. This is not a family restaurant except for special occasions. It is very pricey. I will say however you are not just paying for food it is an experience. This is my go to restaurant for Birthdays, Anniversaries, and to introduce my children into fine dinning experience. The only problem is the smug pretentiousness of the patrons and they want to be seen so they are excessive loud. I have seen Kevin Costner, John Goodman, Kate Hudson and Oliver stone in the place. It has an excellent wait staff and the Food is some of the best Ive had the pleasure to enjoy but Again the Place is LOUD and dinner for two with app. and one drink will be north of $100.00

Always a favorite choice for a fine, delicate meal and service experience on the Northshore. Management is great and treats you with a personablility and grace. The food is arguably the best in the Covington Mandeville area. Largely french in cuisine, my personal favorites include the foie gras speciality that varies in its preparation, along with the crab meat and brie soup. The entrees have never disappointed and have remained consistent in flavor in the last 10 years of dining there. The waitstaff is well trained, well mannered, and educated on the food and wine selection. In all, Dakotas is a beautiful and elegantly paced dining experience. 5 star

Nearly perfect meal, superbly served, nicely paced, visually pleasing, and great flavor combinations. Grilled oysters with bleu cheese rival GW Finns and Dragos. Oyster Rockerfeller soup great. Shrimp and grits, seafood grill (with lobster) fantastic. Romantic setting, soft music background, not packed in. Save some room for a brownie dessert. Dakota pays attention to details, without the pretentiousness of the French Quarter. Wines: wow!

Incredible! My wife and I had an amazing meal with even better service last night! We sat at the bar and were taken care of by Trey and Daniel. They were very attentive and gave great suggestions. Everything we had was awesome! If you dont have the crab and brie soup youre not living.

Outstanding from the moment I walked in. Shrimp Napoleon was fantastic as was the Herb Crusted Salmon with Gnoochi. Preston and his team provided very attentive service! Worth it!
