I am a very experienced home cook. My main specialty is Mediterranean cuisine. When Shiraz first opened up near my home, I was very skeptical due to its "chain store" appearance. Nonetheless, my will was superseded by another, and I was forced to consume it. Notice my disdain. My otherwise well intentioned spouse had stumbled upon what can only vaguely be described as "food". Wait, perhaps I am a bit harsh. The onions were edible, as was the weirdly crunchy, yet tasty pita. But thats it. I am assuming the meat on the skewer was chicken. I am also assuming the only seasoning in the kitchen must have been salt. As for the hummus I so foolishly begged for, well....I had NO idea people put cumin in hummus these days. The (actually authentic) restaurant Safirs (which is a mini-heaven) does not put cumin in , so far as my palate can detect. Nor do the majority of recipes online contain cumin. So why in the bloody hell did my hummus taste like mexican bean dip? And were they really too lazy to pit the olives. They DO sell them without the pits these days. They were lurking in the "hummus" just itching to break a tooth. I will never be eating here again, and I heartily discourage anyone else from eating here. We spent 15 dollars and got about 5 dollars worth of "food". If you think thats a good deal, and you have no taste buds left from your crack habit....go there. But if you had a crack habit, I doubt you could afford this over priced supposed cuisine. Please, just do the food gods a favor and google the recipe for whatever youre about to order from here. It will be cheaper and far tastier. Might I note that there menu includes "braised ceviche". I rest my case.

I have been going to Shiraz for a while. It offers some selection of vegan food which I like to eat. I am giving two stars in a hope that the people who use yelp and the owner would read this review as feedback. Here is my take on this restaurant: 1. No menu change over past years: No introduction of new food over past few years. 2. Decline in quality of service: I feel that the quality of service have declined over the past few years. Every-time, I visit this restaurant; I do not feel welcome anymore. 3. Mandatory Charges: Charges for soda drinks are added even though I asked several time I do not want it. Worst the owner is so rude and I was told "iif you do not want it dont drink it, it is your choice". No chain I have ever been added "mandatory drink charges". Worst other Shiraz chain on east end does not add these charges. I strongly advice people to go elsewhere.

Great family atmosphere. This was our first time in Shiraz and we were greeted by the owner who welcomed us to his familys restaurant. He said that when we eat here its like eating at his home. He told us that all his food is fresh and non processed and that the recipes are his family recipes. I ordered the pulled beef panini with eggplant on the side and my wife ordered the Shiraz roll with hummus on the side. The food was absolutely fantastic. Fresh and authentic flavors, a true testament to the owners claims. Its easy to believe that these recipes are passed down through his family. My only criticism would be that the portions were very small and my wife and I would have to order double our food to be satisfied. However, with the portion size aside, a definite winner in our pursuit for awesome foods in Louisville.

$29 for 2 chicken shawarma wraps with a side of Greek salad. Its tasty but, not mind blowing food. Portions are decent but not huge. Every time we go inside it seems to be run by young people who are a bit lost. Last time we went the tables were dirty and there were out of a lot of items on the menu. The young female cashier shouted out to a customer to clear there table and pointed to the trash bin station. I believe if Im paying $29 for two sandwiches you can clean my table off. Especially---if Im waiting in line to place my own order. I know the struggle of getting qualified people is real but, at these prices, you should be paying a great wage to attract better staff. We wont be returning sadly. I do wish you well. Its hard to own a small business.

Fantastic Mediterranean cuisine in a terrific casual environment. We have eaten here a few times and have always enjoyed the kabobs and hummus (the owners Grandmothers recipe! Yum!) but now we have two young kids that are still very picky about their food. Ashcon was there to prepare an incredible modified hamburger and when they didnt have ketchup, he immediately stopped what he was doing and ran next door to buy a bottle for us. He even got both kids a candy bar as dessert! I would have reviewed this restaurant as an excellent choice for Mediterranean and recommended it to anyone before that had happened, but this just put it over-the-top! You guys are the best!

Great fast-casual, small, local chain restaurant. If youre into Mediterranean, seafood, kabobs, vegetarian dishes, meat dishes... give this place a shot. You order at the counter and, if dining-in, the food is brought to your table. Service has always been very friendly and the food is very flavorful. Love it! Update: Service continues to be excellent. The staff seems to genuinely care that customers are served well and enjoy their food... a bit of a "wow" factor, IMO. Still, in most recent visits, the customer service from the gentleman running the show has been absolutely tops.

First of all, just go to Eat-A-Pita on bardstown road theyre exponentially better. My chicken kabob was good but they didnt specify that a "shiraz salad" for $3.99 was just glorified pico de gallo which the younger guy made up for with an actual salad. My main complaint however is that my girlfriends 9 dollar chicken panini was 95% rice and we ended up dumping it out and using the tortilla like panini wrap for the hummus we ordered. the manager i believe was hanging out with girl scout moms while he shouldve been worrying about the food he was putting out.

Better than I ever imagined! I cannot praise enough, just how good their food is! Doubted I would like Mediterranean food, and now I am hooked, and would eat this everyday if I could! Anything off the menu is delicious! Steak, Herbal Rice, Balal, Shiraz Salad, Tzatziki Sauce, and Shwarma Wrap are a few of my favorites! So refreshing and fullfilling!!!! Customer Service is excellent too, and the casual dining environment make for a 5-STAR casual dining experience for Shiraz Mediterranean Grill! -Brittany from L-MARC! GoodMusicToo!!!!

Enjoyed the lamb kabob, great maranaid on the meat. Loved the lentil rice, shirez salad, vegetable skewer, humus. All very fresh and lots of flavor. It was all the best Mediterranean food i ever had, and topped off with a great baklava. Enjoyed talking to the owner. Great salesman and very proud of all the work they put into their food. It shows. The meal was great. Will definitely come back even with the 1-1/2 hour drive..

I cannot think of a single complaint. The food is fantastic (love love the yogurt sauce, portions of meats, varieties of rice, the new and improved baklava). The prices are totally fair. I am always full after a meal but never sick or heavy. It makes me feel great! Plus, the manager seems like a genuinely good person. Love the family photos on the counter; wish there were even more! :) Thanks Shiraz!
