Id rate this place 4 stars for in-house, and 1 star for pickup (Im dropping the half star average). Food is solid, standard-fare Tex-Mex and lunch specials are great. Multiple times Ive received my order in-house within 5 minutes or so. Like a Jekyll to Mr. Hyde, the pickup experience is a completely different animal. In the event that you get someone that knows what they are doing, you should be fine, but Ive been burned enough to decide not to order carry-out anymore and suggest you shouldnt leave it up to chance. Orders generally are wrong (and I dont have any special requests), sides are forgotten, food is often cold if you go by the ETA given by the order taker (if they even tell you), and sometimes weve had to wait considerable time since they never made the orders. On top of this, when reporting problems, you generally get nowhere and are rudely hung up on - except Jorge, he was awesome and had great customer service. To sum up: plan on sitting at a table and enjoying a solid, but nothing special meal. Otherwise, dont bother ordering and hit up a taco truck instead.

This is a horrible restaurant. The service was slow, the food is barely edible. My meal came to the table looking like it had been dropped on the floor and scraped back into the plate. Ordered a 2nd drink that they never brought out but they didnt forget to charge me for it. However, the worst part of this experience was when they brought my ticket, I had been over charged by $7.00. I pointed this out to the waiter who in turn went to get someone else. And she pretended like she didnt speak English well enough to understand what the problem was! I paid my overpriced bill but I will never return to this restaurant. And I will be telling everyone I know what a horrible place it is.

Went there today and specially ordered the lunch fajita, then received our bill and the charge was almost double what it should have been. When I politely told the waiter that we ordered the lunch fajita (after all it was lunch time) and we did specify the lunch portion. The manager came and told me that they could not change my ticket and I would have to pay the price that they rang it up as. She said I may have ordered the lunch portion, but they served me the dinner, so therefore I had to pay it. Absolutely ridiculous to have to pay double at lunch! Horrid horrid customer service! Folks there are a 1001 Mexican joints in Lexington, please be smart and not choose this one.

I have no idea what that person is talking about who said there are hidden fees for takeout. We probably eat here once a month always get takeout. Weve never had a problem. AND they almost always have a 10% off coupon on their website for takeout orders. Just FYI. Food is good. Huge servings. I can usually get 2 almost 3 meals out of a single order of fajitas. The mariachi nachos are delicious but come with waaaaaaaay too much meat. Well order with chicken only and theyre perfect. My only complaint is that Im pretty sure the guacamole they use is the packaged /powdered stuff. Maybe im just a guacamole snob but I think theirs definitely needs some work.

I have been coming to El Mariachi for years and it is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town. The fajitas oaxaquenas and fajita chimichanga are my go to dishes, though El Combo is very good if youre looking for a lot of variety (and a lot of food). I think the drink prices are very reasonable, and the staff is typically very friendly and helpful. Great place to grab a quick bite. Check it out!

I just ate here and I have to tell you. Their sauce that tops the food is AMAZING. It was full of flavor and had a nice smokiness that complimented the food. And the chili relleno was the best ever. You could tell it was homemade and created with care. There wasnt a seed in it and the cheese was top notch. Super food and courteous staff.

Ordered the steak ranchero AND THE STEAK WAS TINY MOSTLY FAT I SWEAR IT WAS A LITTLE FAT STEAK WITH BARELY ANY MEAT ALL FAT CONENT SO I PAYED $16 FOR RICE ANS BEANS ?!?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? WHAT A JOKE !! LAST TIME I EVER DINE HERE ! Freaking $16 plate FOR rice and beans !!!!!! Overpriced garbage

This is a nice Mexican restaurant. It is not going to wow you but is going to satisfy you. Ingredients are fresh and meals are enjoyable. Tacos are really good here. Salsa is so-so. Draft beer list is really short (2 choices). The restaurant is small and comfortable. Service is adequate.

Do NOT order pickup. Terrible customer service, hidden pick up fees, cold food, and no-one understands you when you order. I will be more than happy to take my money elsewhere, and I refuse to go back here again.

Ordered out a few times. Was disappointed, sauce was frozen. And order wasnt exactly what we wanted. They gave my wife a free meal. Good food but will have to find a new place if quality doesnt get better soon.

Great Mexican restaurant. I usually order a side of 3 tamales in addition to my meal so I can have some to take home. Ask for the El Mariachi sour cream sauce when they give you the free chips and salsa.
