IF YOURE NOT WHITE, DONT BOTHER! My friends and I (party of 5 women) went to have lunch there today and was told by the waiter that we would be best served upstairs on the top patio. We were walked past empty tables to the "oasis bar". We sat down at the table, only to be told that the tables we were sitting at were reserved. We moved to another table. Those tables were reserved. We asked if we could sit at the bar. Those tables were reserved. In fact, the waitress told us that the entire oasis bar was reserved for a party of 20 that were on their way. We walked downstairs and mentioned to the waiter who told us to go upstairs that there must have been some confusion. We were not given alternative seating. We were only met with a dumb expression. We walked out, went around the corner and ate at Goodfellas pizza. Thirty minutes later, we walked past the restaurant again and the upstairs patio was still empty. My friends and I requested to speak with the manager and inquired why we were not seated at any table and why we were told that there was a party arriving but the tables were still empty. The manager proceeded to tell us that the patio upstairs was reserved for a party and that there was no tables for us at the time. While, clearly, there will several available tables that we could sit at and eat. She never apologized or bothered to serve us. We left very upset and felt that we had been discriminated against. At the time, my friends were the only people of color in the establishment. It was very rude and disgusting and I have never been more embarrassed in my life, and Im white! How sad that in this modern age, people are still turned away by the color of their skin. Shame on Cheapside for their attitude and bigotry.

I have been reading these reviews for years, but this is the first experience bad enough for me to write about it. I ordered a meal with two appetizers (crab cakes and fried mushrooms). I took one bite of the crabcake and had to spit it out. My girlfriend tried it and followed suit. I then attempted to eat a fried mushroom. After forcing down just one I cancelled my order and left. The food was absolutely discusting. Now, the bar crowd seemed pretty good for 6 p.m. (Its hard to screw up alcohol I guess) but I was so turned off that I will never go back. They may have been established in 1983 but judging by the food I would guess that this is about the same year that they stopped caring about the "grill" aspect of their name.

I have a really hard time understanding the situation in the womans bathroom. I am not sure why they put two toilets in one stall, but it seems a little silly and counter productive. Maybe a man designed it, who was not aware of the fact that woman do not typically like to pee next to other women who they dont know, unlike the male gender. I seriously hope that they make it their goal of 2017 to invest in another stall door, because the line that stretches outside the door gets rather annoying. Especially when you are getting smacked by the main bathroom door while waiting to get into the sacred double potty stall when other girls are opening and closing it.

If only ZERO stars was an option... My pregnant wife and I were traveling and stopped in for dinner. To our surprise not many people dining and we thought this was great due to we were extremely hungry. The waitress took our order and we waited an hour for two salads. She forgot my wifes appetizer when she only had us inside to deal with. We each ordered the chicken salad and it came out missing the croutons. My wife who ordered the noodles on the side still had noodles in her salad. The waitress never bother to refill our drinks. We can only recommend to find a different place to eat if youre traveling through...

We were in town for a Keeneland race and went downtown to see what it was like. We had no idea of where to eat, but saw Cheapside and the large amount of people inside. Apparently they were not there to eat. I will get right ot the point, I cant cook but could have made a better meal out of my hotel room. They were out of half of the menu, but did not provide substitutes...just simply charged me for sides that I didnt eat. Main entree was embarrassing. Only good thing, cocktails were tasty.

First time ever eating at this establishment, and it was ABSOLUTELY THE WORST SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Now, perhaps I shouldnt have chosen the first day of Lexington Burger Week, however this is not the first year for this event, and if you didnt plan properly for the crowds then you should not participate. Our server BARELY acknowledged us when he came to get our drink orders and WALKED AWAY as my friend was attempting to ask a question about the menu! Unbelievably rude.

Its probably good when you can actually get food. We waited here for an hour and 10 minutes, watching everyone around us get their burger who were seated after us. Seems like they need to become more organized. Even though the burger looks delicious, I only recommend going if you have at least 2 hours and not an hour long lunch break...

Cheapside was more impressive than I thought it would be. It was the place me and my wife chose after the "Fiddler on the Roof" at the opera house. My wife really enjoyed here shrimp risotto, and my Cuban pork was way more impressive than I thought it would be for "bar fare".

We started with the stuffed pretzel appetizer, which was pretty good. For the main course, I had steak and my girlfriend had the seasoned salmon. Both were a little sweet and a little spicy, but exquisite. I highly recommend this place, especially in the summertime.

Best cuban sandwich! Yum! Everything i have tried is above average. Theres a reason its downtown lexingtons oldest bar/restaurant. The brisket is as good as it gets and what a burger. If you dont want the hustle bustle eat on a weeknite.

Two words: Fry Sauce The food here is great, the service is hit or miss - but I believe its just dependent on a persons day as to how that plays out in their job. I dont hold it against them. Reasonable prices for a delicious meal!

The outdoor patio was most of the appeal to this place. I ordered a burger, that was absolutely terrible, but the drinks were great. Burger was so bad that I was chasing it down with the fries (which were decent) and my drink.

Friendly service, yet the food was a little slow to come to the table. Ive come in multiple times this summer for dinner or drinks and dessert. I would recommend this place if youre not worried about time.

AS LONG AS YOU ARE A REG. YOU ARE FAMILY. SO DRINK THERE OFTEN. IN THE SUMMER THE PATIO IS THE PLACE TO BE. THEY JUST REDESIGNED THE INTERIOR AND ADDED NEW FLAT-SCREENS.

I dislike this place very much. The service is not good and there is a large, ornery crowd most of the time. Drinks are far too pricey and service has been very spotty.
