I can count on one hand the number of times Ive been to a restaurant in a hotel, and once included a time we left our keys in Washington state on our way back to Chicago! Our recent visit to Twelve01 was probably the second time weve ever actively sought out a restaurant at a hotel. After a Yelp event a few weeks ago, we were intrigued and after our visit, we were both very pleasantly surprised by the experience! The ambiance here is quite nice, not too fancy, but a few steps up from chains. Dark wood, nice separation of sections and high booth backs give people privacy, but doesnt make it seem like youre eating by yourself in a giant room. The decor is nice with a large wine display and couple TV throughout. It was surprised at how well the TVs worked here. Other spots have tried and it just didnt work as they were too distracting. These seem to separate out well, while still letting people check scores without being a focal point. The beer selection is solid with a ton of Iowa beers - all of which are half off between 3 and 6! Great to have them highlight local stuff! The food is what will bring us back. Theyre having a lot of fun with them menu and truthishly, it was unexpected at a place that hails from a hotel - Moreso, theyve done a good job of trying things in different spots on the menu, not just with appetizers. Pork belly with maple Sriracha, Guac made table side with a mortar and pestle and a queso with chorizo were all options to start. We however started with crab cakes - very nicely prepared and pretty standard for the area. A little on the small side for this left coast native, but overall very good. Our three year old told us he liked them enough that we should learn to make them at home. It came with a side of spicy butter corn that was good enough to just spoon by itself. We split a Cobb Salad and Chicken Club Milanesa. The Cobb was good with a lot of targets that were nicely prepared. It had a LOT of bacon which was a big plus for this porcine connoisseur! The Chicken Club Milanesa was the big surprise of the night - it was AWESOME. Presentation was great as it looked like it was about 8 inches tall, but indeed had been stacked. It was delicious! Texas toast with a cilantro lime dressing, swiss, really nicely done crispy chicken and bacon. I dare say, it was one of my favorite sandwiches Ive had in the area. We found more fun stuff on the dessert menu as well. We tried and hot and cold ice cream - It was just what it sounds like! Normal vanilla served cold, then warmed with frothy vanilla on top - served with a chocolate soda cake - it was very memorable and lick the plate good. The mango strawberry crepes and fried bananas looked excellent as well and will be our next conquest! All in all, this place was an incredible surprise. We walked away talking about what wed like to try next time - something that doesnt happen all that often, and certainly never previously when walking out of a hotel restaurant. Theyre doing some really good stuff here, are super friendly and made for an unexpectedly nice evening! Its a first from us, but were excited to go back to that "Hotel Restaurant" and try more! Throw your hesitations to the wind and try this place out - odds are there are half a dozen things youll want to try!

First time to any restaurant thats been in this location. Very nicely decorated, upscale modern, with plenty of seating. Nice bar area and a meeting room that seats about 20, which is where we met. Acoustics in that room were not great; it was pretty loud. But the food was interesting and delicious which is a good combination. I had the citrus salad. Very filling, a generous portion of romaine with grilled chicken, red cabbage, grape tomatoes sliced and marinated, and orange slices (very thin and also marinated) The dressing was a house recipe and had a citrus flavor that was not overpowering at all. There were also cubes of bread similar to whats in a Greek salad. Each bite was an interesting blend of familiar flavors. Everything the group ordered looked great and everyone seemed to enjoy theirs. I was envious of the quesidilla -amazing presentation! We shared a double order of fried avocado with habenaro jelly. Tasty and interesting; not painfully spicy either. The patio had sports TV and a fire pit. It looks like a great place to sit for an evening. Everything was upscale suburban priced.

My family regularly stays at Hampton Inn in Iowa City when we travel for family vacations. Today we decided to give the hotel restaurant a try, as we had been on the road for 15 hours with 4 kids and didnt want to get back in the car. Honestly, we regretted not going to McDs. All 4 kids ordered personal pizzas, which were obviously frozen Red Baron brand pizzas. Three of them were supposed to be cheese pizza, but the restaurant decided to pick the pepperoni off the top of the 3-meat Frozen pizza, not bothering to notice there were little cubes of spicy pepperoni in the sauce under the cheese. Not exactly what our young kids were looking for. The fries on all of our plates were extremely over cooked, brown and crunchy. We asked to speak to the manager, and instead they sent the person who seated us...we know he wasnt the manager because the real manager had come during the beginning of our meal to say hello. I gave two stars because the place was clean, and our waitress was very nice. Will not be eating here again.

We came here for our anniversary and our experience was horribly. Definitely will not be back. The only upside was that our drinks were good and so was the table side guacamole which the server was able to make chunky like I like it. Our cheese curds were cold and some still frozen. My husbands steak which he ordered medium was burnt and dry beyond even my well done liking. I had the salmon alfredo. The salmon was horribly dry and the alfredo sauce was like water. I dipped my salmon in the alfredo just to make it edible and didnt even eat the pasta. The waitress was not helpful at all in making the situation right.

Obviously since no one has left a review its clear that the Holiday Inn has basically put a bandaid on a broken bone!! All of the rooms are still well below average, so once again they put the money where it is least needed for a hotel! Who stays at a hotel for their restaurant and bar....no one!!

Horrible service during weekend dinner hours when the place wasnt busy . Manager looked at our table and didnt once come over. One server struggled to work 3 large tables while others stood by. Large service charge was not worth the okay quality but pricey meal. Will not visit again or recommend.

They have happy hour Monday-Saturday which is 50% off a small selection of wines, beers on tap and wells. Usually have some pretty great taps. They make THE BEST guacamole. They bring a table of ingredients beside your table to make it, its pretty cool.

We had our rehearsal dinner here. The hall was very nice, food was delicious, and staff was very helpful! We recommend eating at the Twelve01 Kitchen and Tap!

The burgers were awesome as well as the onion rings. Server, Jesse, could not have been more attentive. Also, there is a large selection of wine and beer.
