My husband and I along with 8 guest from our wedding were greeted with ear to ear smiles as we entered the Iowa River Power Restaurant. The view from the dinning room was spectacular. The paddle fans, linen table cloths and nostalgic signage works well with the architecture of this once industrial building. We all had a wonderful dinner and great service. Before we had arrived, they had set up our table with the roses I had ordered for my husband arranged in a beautiful vase. The restaurant allows cake delivery and when it came time for cutting the cake, Danise the owner had set up a special table with another great view of the river for photo opportunities. The Iowa River Power Restaurant is owned by people who work right beside their team to insure the best in guest service. Thanks to Danise and her staff for a wonderful evening. Ed and David

I was so excited when the City of Coralville built a patio over the Iowa River at a huge cost to tax payers so the Iowa River Power Restaurant could use it for lunch. A month after the patio was completed, the managers of the IRPR closed the restaurant for lunch because, and as they told me, " we dont have to have to pay waitresses health insurance." I was so pissed that I stopped going to the IRPR altogether (it has been more than a year now). The patio has chairs and tables but the restaurants never open for lunch. Shouldnt the City of Coralville bill IRPR for the construction bill? Anybody know anything about why nobody is licensing the patio to open the only restaurant tables on the river in the Iowa City-Coralville area?

We were passing through town (from Michigan)and actually were camping in the area. We had reason to celebrate so I found this place on the river to have dinner. We had a wonderful table with a nice view of the river, dam and walkway. Service was just right. I feel bad I dont remember servers name... The surf and turf was probably the best meal we have ever had. The filet was cooked a perfect medium rare/medium and the lobster tail was HUGE and cooked to tender perfection. The shrimp scampi pasta dish we also ordered was unremarkable, but the surf and turf was plenty to share and made up for it. I dont write many reviews but I cant stop thinking about that meal! Thank you for starting off our cross country journey in style!

GOOD SERVICE but the food prep was bad. The frozen tasting vegetables were swimming in the juice from the steak. My wife ordered hers no salt, for medical reasons. She got her veggies no seasoning at all. A female manager told us the cooks can only use the pepper salt mix so being she ordered no salt she got frozen tasting veggies UNSEASONED and the manager told me that because I ordered steak that my other foods MUST swim in the fat from the steak.. She also said thats good, it shows the steak is not dry. I swear this all came out of her mouth.Nice to sit and eat next to the river.Just under 60.00 for two.

My wife and two boys had Sunday brunch with my father-in-law yesterday for Easter. The food was incredible. We had a very little wait time and the waitress was very responsive. The price tag is a little high but think it was well worth the money. The setting is cool being right next to the Iowa River. Inside the building has many old time relics that makes for a great atmosphere. It is quite in demand, however, so please be sure to reserve your spot at least a few days in advance--if not more. I would recommend to all to give this a chance--you wont regret it.

All & all a very good experience. The decor, view, & ambiance are wonderful. Our wait staff was fantastic, and the food was delicious. I had the Steak Oscar which was amazing while my wife had the Filet with Monterrey Shrimp. Both dishes wed suggest to try if youve either not had them before, or not been here before. Our only complaint is that our food was not quite hot, just "warm". If not for that, wed have given 5 stars. Well definitely be back in the spring and/or summer time to enjoy the beautiful patio overlooking the Dam & River.

Atmosphere, decorations, and views are excellent. The place is truly beautiful. Food is good but not great, comes off a little generic for an upscale place, but I spose thats probably what their audience is looking for. Youll probably like it, but wont be inspired by it. However, I love the caeser salad! I have only had their pasta dishes but they have been cooked perfectly (al dente) each time. Plating is always thoughtful. If you take someone here they are sure to feel like theyre being treated to something special.

Used to love this restaurant, would frequent it about once a month. Most recently the management and staff has not been up to par. Called one week in advance with a seating preference, which was promised. Upon arrival we were not greeted appropriately, and not seated appropriately, even though many tables were available that we had requested. Once the food arrived (Duck and prime rib) it was not very warm, and the prime rib was noticeably cold by touch...Will not be back for quite a while.

This is very late sharing but I was there last year (October 2016) with my boyfriend and when we got there I asked this black girl if you were still open cause I was from out of town cause it had looked like you were closing so I asked a simple damn question and she had the gall to talk behind my back and I heard her. I will NOT come there again if the damn hostess is going to be rude and snobby towards me. I dont like disrespectful little witches

This is the second time I have been here. To be honest, the first time did not amaze me, because it was the first brunch I had ever in America, I had nothing to compare. After one year living here, this visit makes me realize how good the food is here. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because it is really expensive... I mean, you can easily get what you eat in the buffet with what you paid anywhere else, they just put them together.

The service was horrible, the food was good. We arrived at 6pm with reservations. We were served our appetizer by 6:30pm, but didnt get our main course until after 8:15pm. We had a family of only eight and again, reservations. Then to add insult to injury, we were automatically forced to pay an 18% tip. We will never, ever return to this restaurant and I would never recommend it to anyone.

Great view, food is fine, nothing eccentric about the food but defnitely no room to complain. None of the food is cheap, but there is a bar/grill connected with lesser prices and more of a kids menu. Great view from the actual restaurant to the river and a giant walking bridge to walk off some of the food because you do get stuffed (also theyre veggies and salads were to die for).

I really like the large windows and the view over the river, but the food is entirely sub-par. I wish they would improve the quality of the food they serve rather than charging premium prices to microwave frozen vegetables. Their brunch is great and seemed to be higher quality than the dinners Ive had here, but that may simply be due to the nature of breakfast foods.
