The food is incredibly good; I would say its the best Indian food in the Des Moines area. However, there are other issues that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. First, the lack of dishes. I dont know if they dont have a dish washing machine or what, but you get your water in a styrofoam cup -- I despise styrofoam from an ecological point of view. Food comes in either a paper boat like youd expect your cheesy fries to come in at a hockey game, or it comes in a clear plastic container, depending on how fluid the food item is. Utensils are disposable plastic. The other is just the atmosphere of the restaurant. For the price of the entrees, I would expect a nicer place than this. The disposable utensils and things are part of it, but also the ordering at the counter and getting a number, the low temperature indoors in cold weather, the cheap tables and chairs, etc. However, the food is so good thats its all worth it. It is what it is. It takes a while to get your food after you order it, but the truth is that quality does take time and they are making each item to order.

I have never experienced such a great customer service and delicious indian food anywhere else. I have been visiting Kurry express since last 3 years but the last few visits I experienced a tremendous improvement in their customer service, taste and quality of the food. All I can say is wow! The service was so good that I had to ask the name of the person who served us..I remember him to be Vijay. Thumbs uo to you! You are keeping the sprrits of Indian food carving people high. You have set a new level of expectation for other competitors! Hope you keep up the way it is now. The food and the service were way beyond what I expected, and needless to say we will be returning customers..

I loved it there, as an Indian I can say the food tastes really Indian! Most Indian Restaurants have dirtiness and have terrible service, but Kurry Xpress has great service is very clean and decent(for an Indian Restaurant). The staff is great and very friendly, they made sure how we were doing, and make sure that we are comfortable. I enjoyed Kurry Xpress, they have changed a lot from time, and have changed their business to be enjoyable and good!

Best Indian food, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The atmosphere & take-out serving style (even when eating there) isnt ideal, but the food is definitely worth it! They also have filtered water for patrons, so thats a huge added bonus. My favorite Indian restaurant in the area by far!

Best Indian food in Des Moines, hands down. A previous reviewer mentioned styrofoam plates and plastic utensils - the styrofoam has since been replaced with paper plates. Everything is still disposable and ideally would be actual plates and silverware but the taste of the food has me coming back.

I usually go to another Indian restaurant but I was given a Groupon so I gave Kurry Xpress a try. The chicken tikka masala was better than my usual restaurant and the rice was more Asian than Indian which I liked better. I realize this is only one dish but I will be back for more.

$10 buffet with mostly chicken, potato, corn, and rice entrees. Paper plates, plastic forks, and self serve cups for water. No vegetable entrees. Relatively high buffet price and more limited options compared to other Indian buffets in town.

Went here tonight and really enjoyed it. My wife is from the UK and good Indian food is pretty common there. We both got the Korma which was a little bit spicier for that dish but tasted awesome. Her only complaint was the naan was pretty thin.

Worst experience ever. They served food in plastic to go box, rice in paper bowl and plastic cutlery. They really need to work on their restaurant quality. Please dont go and waste your time n money.

Maybe I caught them at a bad time, but I was not impressed with the food. I thought it was just me but when we left, my girlfriend said the same thing. In all fairness their naan wasnt bad.

Outstanding mid-range budget Indian. The lunch buffet is what I usually go for. If you order off the menu be prepared to wait a bit, but you wont be disappointed when the food arrives.

Spiced to taste biryani, light on purse and reasonable customer service. Good quality food although some may find use of plastic utensils jarring.

Is not the cleanest place (bathrooms and uncleaned, uncleared tables) and is a bit odd with plastic utensils but the food is pretty good.
