THE MANAGER CHAD WAS SO RUDE!!!! They screwed up my daughters birthday! We went to Pizza Ranch in Monticello on Sunday, May 1st for my daughters 11th bday. We brought her grandfather along because this will be his last birthday with her. When we got there, we told the cashier it was her birthday and asked if they did anything. She said yes, they would sing to her and give her cactus bread with a candle in it. She gave us a number and told us to put it at the end of our table. While we were there, they were always out of chicken, mashed potatoes, most pizzas, and soup. We can excuse this as every business can have a bad day. I asked two staff members who took our plates when they were going to sing. They both ignored us and kept cleaning. After an hour, my husband asked the assistant manager what was going on. He said give us 5 minutes and well do it. (the place was NOT busy during this time--plenty of empty tables). After waiting another 15 minutes, the staff went to the wrong table, said my daughters name and sang to HIM. Their parents stopped the staff and they left. We gathered our items to leave and I went back up to the cashier and asked what was going on? She said she didnt know anything about her bday. I reminded her of the number she gave us, showed her the note she wrote, etc. She just looked at me like she had no clue. I told her I was going to be my things and I wanted to see the manager. On my way back to the table, I saw the manager, Chad, going into the kitchen. I stopped him and asked what was going on and thanked him for ruining my daughters birthday. Chad said "Whatever" and slammed the door on me. We started walking outside and my daughter started crying and i told my husband what Chad said. He walked back in there and started telling him he had no right to talk to me that way or ruin a little girls day. Chad, the manager mind you, said "We dont have to sing or do anything for anyones birthday so why dont you leave". Other patrons in the restaurant told the manager he was being rude and Chad just shrugged his shoulders. My husband said he was going to call corporate and Chad said "go ahead--I dont care". Then when my husband asked for his name, Chad SHOVED his name tag in my husbands face. I can excuse the lack of staff, the lack of food that we paid for, and the fact they didnt do what they said they were going to do. Really, I can excuse that. But what I cant excuse is a manager treating people like that. A simple "were sorry" would have done the job. You dont treat people that way!

We ate there 5 times from late 2012 through mid-2013 for our family member birthday. Last year our final visit in December 2013, two of our family members got very sick with the food. My brother-in-law was throwing up all night. Two of the fried chicken (thigh) were way undercooked, and we literarily swallow a chunk of raw chicken. The red blood was underneath the chicken on the plate. We left the restaurant without complaining that night because we didnt want to make a scene right before the X-mas. Later I spoke with the manager on the phone and she said the owner would have contact us, but heve never returned my phone call. Finally in January 2014 I wrote a letter with follow-up call. The manager said the owner would forward this issue to the corporate office. However, Ive never received any phone call nor letter......even for any apology from neither the restaurant nor the corporate officwe!!! I had similar issue (like bones in the burger) with a couple other restaurants in Twin Cities. All of them took care within a week. As of today, Pizza Ranch Monticello is running their business.

Oh the Pizza Ranch reminds me very much of home. As a boy I was goat rancher in Penjab, India. Many long days spent with the goats. Bathing the goats. Milking the goats. Sleeping with the goats. I loved the goats. One day when I was the age of 11 my baba told me we can no longer keep the goats. Many financial problems due to his mahjong gambling debts. We slaughtered the goats and sold the meat. I had much sadness then. My babas gambling debts got worse and we were able to only have one meal a day. A meal of green olives and masoor (red lentils). Today I am a traveling carpet sailesman and was in the great town of montecello. I saw the sign for a ranch of pizza and thought back to my goats. I stopped in and was trilled to see many foods on a table. I asked the workers if there was any halal meat and the told me we only have pizza. But then I saw them, the green olives that I love so very much. I had 4 plates of green olives and for desert had 3 plates more. How very good it feels to eat them.

The pizza was good, just didnt like the service. Not a lot of diversity in the pizzas, only one vegetarian pizza when I got there. Im a vegetarian so I took a piece. Soon it was gone and replaced with a meat one. A cheese pizza came a few minutes later but they were supposed to deliver it to our table and they didnt. Pizza got cold within two minutes. Chips were soggy and disgusting. A kid behind me kept bumping his chair into mine, almost enough to knock down my coat. Pizza crusts were laying all over the floor, staff not bothering to pick any of them up. Ill just order my pizza for delivery next time.

Facts- Costs about the same as other established buffets. They have 3 islands including pizza, non-pizza food, and a salad/cold bar. Pros- You get full. Cons- You get full on food that is garbage so to speak. Meaning the source of the food is of no concern to the consumer. "Im gonna try some of everything!". If you take too much, oh well just throw it away! If it were quality food, that would not be tolerated. It is possible the average buffet attendee could care less about what they are consuming but I digress. Just sayin. Bon Appetite! Yes I eat there sometimes. And Yes I eat all I take.

Stopped today (Memorial Day) at 7pm during the dinner buffet rush and no issues whatsoever. Read previous reviews and was very nervous about the buffet and the personnel but was impressed while we were there. Buffet was always well stocked which was cycled through fast and often. Fried chicken was real moist and good. Salad bar was fresh. Dessert pizza out of this world. Pizza buffet selections were vast and hit everything I wanted without having to ask. Coffee was a nice added touch afterwards. Employees were on top of everything and kept a great atmosphere.

We stopped by on the way back from our cabin. Im recently gluten and dairy free. We ordered a gf crust with cheese only on half. When it was brought out there was cheese on the entire pizza and only pepperoni on half. We brought this to their attention and they let us keep that pizza while making another pizza for us that came out the way we ordered it. The staff was all very apologetic and friendly, especially Ethan the manger. Very nice and clean duing the busy dinner rush.
