Love the beer selection. Food is okay, but nothing special (except for the pizza, which is absolutely delicious). For a pub, decent. The biggest issue I have with this location is the inclusion of live music in a venue that obviously wasnt built for it. If you go on the weekend with friends/family, you shouldnt plan on having any conversation with them. The music is always incredibly loud and the (super cool normally) ceiling tiles dont absorb any of it. You wont be able to hear anything a foot away from you. If youre not specifically going to hear the band, dont bother; turn around and walk out. Sadly, that fact alone is enough for me to knock off a star. There are far-better venues nearby that offer good beer (perhaps not as MANY types), equally-as-good food, and are quiet enough to at least offer a chance at conversation.

We took a group to Parlor City for brunch today and I was embarrassed since I was the organizer. The main dishes were either cold (the ham and beef) or room temperature (hard mashed potatoes and mac and cheese). They had kerosene burners under the food trays, but none of them were lit and it was cold inside the restaurant, making the food even colder. Of greatest concern was how dirty the serving area was. We got there 75 minutes before end of brunch and the dessert area was basically empty except for a few store-bought cookies and pretzels and it was absolutely filthy with dripped chocolate all over the white table cloth. The server was a nice person and the décor was really neat, but it was very expensive (18.95 per adult) and the dirtiest buffet Ive ever experienced. Oh my gosh, it was just awful.

5:00pm on a Wednesday. Kindly greeted at the door and was allowed to pick my own seat, as it was not too busy. Table was clean and not cluttered with a bunch of table tents and other advertising. Waitress promptly brought my iced tea and politely waited for me to make my choice on the menu. There are several signature items on the menu. I always try to look for these items. I just want to try something out of the ordinary. The Guac burger was really juicy. I ordered it medium and it came out exactly the way I wanted it. Had to ask for extra napkins!! My bill was $11.50. Considering my pleasant service and enjoyable atmosphere I tipped the waitress 20%. A great experience. 56 beers on tap!!

told it was great place to see the history of Cedar Rapids in the pictures on the walls. Sad that from the moment I walked in on August 17th 2016 to sitting at the bar was such a smell like they never cleaned in there. 5 people standing at the end of the bar which I assume they were employees. two people eating in there plus the bartender woman. Im not from Iowa.... so I asked a simple question of the bartender. She literally looked at me with a nasty look on her face and said "why would we allow that we serve food out there" to which I said " I just asked you a very simple question dont need your attitude." As I was walking out I told the hostess lady she had the rudest bartender ever.

Just an ok place. Ive gone there a few times but recently the service has really gone down hill. Walk in, sit at the bar and there isnt anyone at the bar. We were ignored for a good 10 minutes with the staff walking around the restaurant. Then a waitress shows up and has no idea what they have for beer selections on tap. We finish our drinks and wait around for a bit longer for someone to come back and fill us up again. No such luck. We drop a dollar tip and start to pack up and as soon as we drop it, the waitress comes back to us and asks if we need a refill. Get yourself a new staff here.

Ive been here a few times now, youre lucky if you get a table, and the service is terrible and slow, finally the food is touch and go, had a good burger then had greasy burger with hardly any cheese on it. Some of the salads are good, the taco salad sucks. The beer list is extensive but not alot of variety. They have one scotch ale on tap and it tasted like grape soda. Then they have like 10 IPAs. Sometimes they have a band but they book the same ones all the time. Then tonight is Friday and no band and they dont play music either.

Love love love the food, everything Ive had is good... Salads, pizza, sandwiches, appetizers!!! We go there for the live music often. Reading the other posts - the staff can be less than top-notch and I definitely agree.. It shouldnt be the customers that have to get aggressive when trying to BUY something from there...and sometimes it feels like youre waving your arms constantly trying to get someone to tend to you. BUT - 5 stars all the way... the food, and live music atmosphere are my favorite in the area.

Hostess was noticeably intoxicated. Couldnt remember how many were in our party. Slurring her speech; and she moved the hostess desk when she leaned all her weight on it and almost fell over. Booth was dirty when I went to sit down. Sever was polite, but had very poor knowledge of the menu. One of our orders was wrong, but they re-made it. Bathroom floor was dirty and soap dispenser was broken. Huge decline in quality from the last times Ive gone and honestly very disappointing.

Ive neen here a few times and I have to say that its not bad, but definitely nothing special. The drink list, though long, is only alright, the food is almost always delicious but only some dishes are good for the price. There is live music some nights but theyre usually too loud to actually enjoy a meal out with anyone since you cant even pretend to hear each other. Generally everything is pretty clean and nice, just not quite the atmosphere I look for in a pub.

Pros: Awesome selection of beer that is rotated out consistently. Solid food, and generally plenty of seating (with outdoor seating in nicer weather). Cons: Bartending staff generally knows very little about the tap selection. Also, I would NEVER go here when a live band is playing. They choose good bands, but it is just so... damn... loud that you cant hear anything. You cant even talk to someone sitting right next to you without shouting.

I go there regularly. The food is always good. The Jucy Lucy and the Spicy Lucy are both really good burgers. The fries are delicious. The place is pretty cool with all the old business decor from places around the city. The staff is nice, sometimes on the slow side but getting better. I put the cost around 12$ per person total. Meal plus drink. Really isnt too bad, your looking at about the same cost between restaurants within a few dollars.

Service has greatly improved over last several months. The beer selection and prices for good craft beers is probably the best in town. Food is tasty, they have several good burgers on the menu. It is in a nice location, good to start at and bar hop afterwards. Also right in the heart of the NewBo area. Just tried the breakfast, was very good. They have a menu or a buffet, so plenty of options. Prices are great as well.
