Never before have I been cheated on a food challenge, until I walked into 2dogs pub. Im no pushover when it comes to these. But when the kitchen purposely overcooks the fritter; Its common to choke on food when eating a challenge, but NEVER because you cant chew a solid sheet of way overcooked pork. I took the last half of it back to my partner who smashed the same item in 4:40, and he said his was not that overdone. So in short. I paid $20 for a burnt piece of pork, 2 overcooked burgers, 2 eggs and slices of bacon lets not forget the 3 onion rings? Dont fall for the gimmick, a food challenge is usually prepared the same in every case. Not here; they arent in the business of actually honoring the challenge. I have done many food challenges across the midwest; and NEVER have I been cheated in such a manner; it is a deplorable practice by the kitchen to use these tactics. I can NOT recommend this place to any self-respecting foodie. Staff is friendly, and Im sure its a good atmosphere, but it is overpriced, and low quality control. The Alan challenge is a joke (and it is rigged by the kitchen if anyone has done it successfully recently). Steak and shake does it better; thats saying alot around here. In short, same challenge; 2 totally different preparations? Thats some shady 5H!7

2 Dogs Pub is a great place for bar food. But they definitely go beyond that. They have some great sandwiches on the menu, but if you want to go off the map, you can build your own with some great toppings. Wings, french fries, fried green beens, fried cheese, are all great. They make a really good brat with grilled onions and kraut. I see lots of families go there, just like mine. Dont worry if you arent into bar food, there are other options too. Of course, being a pub, there is a great bar, some arcade and bar-top games. There is also a table shuffleboard setup if you want something more active. TVs are tuned to games but it is still easy to have a conversation. There was a group there a couple of days ago watching British soccer, didnt bother us and they were having fun. Definitely a local favorite.

Ive eaten there a few times now. The food has been consistently good, not amazing but good, especially the onion rings. The atmosphere feels like a step up from your average sports bar but still manages to keep things fun with plenty of large TVs, video games and shuffleboard. The service is not great. The servers are friendly but slow and inaccurate. Maybe theyre overworked, Im not sure. As long as you dont expect eating there to be a quick in and out affair and dont mind taking your time and hanging out, its a great place for adults who want to avoid the typical downtown Iowa City sports bar experience.

We tried 2 dogs when they did a Groupon deal recently and have eaten there several times since. The atmosphere is divided into a very casual dining area and a more dimly lit casual sports bar area. The food is decent and reasonably priced and service is usually good. The onion rings are excellent, though portion size as a side-dish when ordered with a burger is a bit small. The burgers are large and delicious, so it usually isnt a problem. We view 2 dogs as a nice quick and tasty alternative to fast food when we dont want to drive all the way out to Blackstone and wait for a table there.

A great bar on the east side of town. Their beer selection is massive as well as their menu options. Lots of great specials. They take pride in building unique, yet tasty burger options that you cant get anywhere else. This bar is also open early on weekends, so its a great venue to watch European soccer.

Service and Beer Selection: A+ Hamburger Quality: D - Frozen Pre-Formed Food service style burgers. Sharp tang of artificial grill flavor, not much other flavor than that though. Really disappointing. Have some great burger options on the menu, but the poor meat choice ruined it for us.

Terrible food, terrible service. Food is a downgrade even from ricks and the service might even be slower. Went with 2 friends and every meal was incorrect. Their chicken wraps looked like they used a mere 1 chicken strip and TVs are poorly placed. They do have a suffle board though.

The soft pretzel sticks (just dropped in number per order) are still great, even if the value just tanked. Great burgers and they have a pinball machine! Great place to watch a game or have a good time with friends and family. Most of the staff is friendly and does a wonderful job.

I had a Moscow mule and a cheeseburger both were good...my date had a beer and pretzels and she was happy too... but the waitress left us for more than few minutes to come and take our order...but thats ok...nice atmosphere and setting...I like it!!!

Love this place! They have a great beer selection and amazing black bean burgers! I also occasionally get one of their spicy chicken sandwiches like the Firestarter. Very clean restaurant and always has been great service.

Did not expect much going in, but this is a nice bar! From the outside, in a strip mall, you wouldnt know it! We went in for some food during an iowa game and had a good time, good beers, and good nachos. We will return!

Great food, fast and pleasant service. Shuffleboard and build your own burger. Wings have exceptional dipping sauces. Im there at least once a week and have no complaints. Large selection of craft beers.

Two Dogs is one of my favorite bars/restaurants in the Iowa City area. Great selection of drinks, great food, and a great atmosphere! Did I mention free shuffleboard?! You cant go wrong with 2 Dogs!

This is a nice, local pub. Extensive beer selection and good food. They have customizable burgers (with either beef, chicken or bean burgers). Try the fried green beans with wasabi dipping sauce.

Family atmosphere, good food. Locally owned. Craft beers. Three dollars for a pub dog, chili dog or a brat with kraut on Tuesdays. The brownie bites are to die for. Whats not to love?
