ATTENTION ALL IRISH DEMOCRAT LOVERS: Went to Irish Democrat to celebrate National Best Friends Day with my best friends. Because any chance to get dinner with my besties I will take. Unfortunately we had the worst experience of all of my years eating at Irish Democrat. We had an inattentive server who didnt know how to use the word sorry. We watched two different tables of men sit down, order and eat their food with the same waitress. Our waitress forgot orders, was angry at us because our onion rings came back soggy. We had a waitress with a bad attitude towards us for no known reason. The manager walked passed multiple times and didnt intervene until I asked a second waitress for the manager. He comes up to me and tells me that we look intimidating. I literally am wearing sweat joggers and coming after the gym. How the hell would he find me intimidating at 53" at 22 years old. In a voice recording, I asked him why I would seem intimidating. He said because I was complaining to my friends about my burnt onion rings that I ordered 30 minutes ago, was the reason why my group of girls seemed intimidating. He was sexist towards us, saying that he is sure that my feelings were hurt and that he, THE MANAGER, wouldnt make things right to our face because we looked intimidating. Our waitress name that we found on the receipt was Sumer and the managers name was Ryan. I gave him my name and number and told them to give it to the owner. I had to go to the table that he was sitting at eating his dinner to give him the napkin with my information. We took our food to go and he insisted on taking our food in the back to box it up. We payed full price for our food and left to go to a different restaurant. We are flaming mad. To that sexist manager, if you thought we were so intimidating while laughing and talking to each other, youre about to figure out how intimidating four pissed off women can be. 5 years of going to Irish Democrat. No more.

The Irish Democrat is an Irish pub. The atmosphere is great. Nice big bar. Lots of green. Good selection of beer. As a bar, the place would get 5 out of 5. The food, was nothing to write home about...even as far as bar food goes. They did have a good selection on the menu. A variety of sandwhiches and appetizers as well as a few steaks. I had a bacon cheeseburger which could have been taken out of a box and thrown in a microwave. There was no taste to it. The bun bland and the meat was flavorless. The french fries served with the sandwhich were you typical out of a bag crinkle cuts...again, nothing special. I love this place a bar and a place to hang out with friends and have a good time, but as a destination for dinner....it just doesnt have anything worth going out of the way for.

Absolutely horrific service at Irish Democratic. It took MORE than an hour to serve from the first plate to the last. Cold food was with those who waited for everyone to get their plate. Waitress was rude and complaints to management fell on deaf ears, as "we are short staffed in the kitchen". I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

The food is excellent especially the cheese wonton and nachos. The service occasionally leaves something to be desired however. The last group outing we had half the group got ignored while the rest of us didnt. They also stopped their happy hour for a period before the holidays which was disapointing.

Two words. Cheese wontons. You have to go here just for this appetizer alone. Ive also tried a large array of their menu items and have never been disappointed with anything they make here. The atmosphere and people are great and its just the perfect place to chill in Cedar Rapids.

We had terrible service, a rude waitress and a very unprofessional manager. I sat in gum (and received no apology), everything we requested seemed like a major imposition, and the waitress stepped on my foot (again with no apology). We will not be returning.

Food served at the ID is very good, especially their burgers and salads. Service is often spotty. Its as though they are always one server short for the crowd they have. The servers themselves are pleasant and courteous, but seem to be harried.

I had the Mushroom and Swiss burger. It was hot and juicy. The staff was cheery and helpful. It was like they could read my mind. I live over two hours away so go there about once a year when visiting friends. I always get the Cheese Wontons.

1 of my favorite places to go too in Cedar Rapids real fresh salads and really good sandwiches I recommend the cheese wontons and they have really good chicken strips washed down with a glass of black cherry vodka

Good 2 for 1 happy hour. You get a chip to use for when youre ready for your next drink. Unlike other places this allows you to enjoy your beers cold since you wont have another one sitting around getting warm

The Irish Democrat is a Cedar Rapids staple! They are famous for their cheese nuggets, which are like mozzarella sticks, but a different shape. They come with a sweet honey mustard sauce and they are superb!

Me and my girlfriend always have lovely evenings here. Gotta love the cheese wontons, though they dont always have enough cheese for my taste. Open steak sandwich and the French dip are must haves!

My FAVORITE restaurant! Wantons, chicken strips and fries are the best!:) Prices arent bad either. My boyfriend and I always share those and its filling and under 20$!
