Waited about 10 minutes for 7 of us to be seated. Waitress was friendly n promptly took our order. HOWEVER, food took forever. Placed order and waited 45 minutes. Waitress apologized and told us the manager did not want to come talk to us so she was trying to get us a discount on her own. Restaurant was not full but still making people wait to be seated since there were trying to close down sections. Overall a very poor experience. When my 4-year old starts asking us to just leave and go somewhere else, it is definitely taking too long. I would not recommend this place.

Its Thanksgiving, Im looking to buy a Custard Pie so I figured its probably wise to call ahead to see if they had it on hand, so I call and Im told "yes we do" this was about 6pm I called. I told them Id be there to get one, so when we got there were told NO CUSTARD PIE! We told them we called ahead just a short wile ago, the guy told us they didnt have any since morning. Now, either the person I talked to was lieing or didnt have a clue and was too lazy to check! Wasted trip, THANKS FOR NOTHING Village Inn.

Came in this evening with a group of four. Youre lucky that theres nothing below a one-star for this restaurant because thats what you get. The food was cold the service sucks. The restaurant was dirty and I can certainly see why there were it was nobody in there. Except for the roaches. I know that youll probably delete this but you need to know it is it was the worst experience Ive ever had. Needless to say Ill never come back.

Very unhelpful and rude staff. Only saw the waitress to order and receive our food although we were her only customers. Manager charged me for the wrong meal after I told him multiple times which meal was mine and would not fix it because "it was already done". Then when my friend had a question about his meal cost, he very rudely said, "What did you expect?" And never explained the charge. Will not go back to this place again.

11:18 Tuesday night we walk in after a concert at the Altoona Iowa restaurant and the first thing the guy says is "Just want to let you know we close in half an hour." The hours per the website were until midnight. We understand the want to go home, close, etc. But to be told that before we even get to sit down was very unprofessional and not appreciated whatsoever. We turned around and left.

Waiter was friendly but his appearance was sloppy. Never checked on us after delivering our food. We both ordered the same item but one plate was overflowing while the other plate was so bare you could see the skillet bottom- thats what dropped them from 3 to 2 stars. Food was decent but Ill go somewhere else next time I stop and visit my family in Des Moines.

Worst Food Ive ever had.. would not even take it home to feed my dog. Ask for fresh coffee brought back same stale coffee. Spent $50 for garbage. Seem to be more interested in Troy whoever that is our manager then the customers everything was cold. I employ 50 employees who travel through Des Moines will instruct them to never stop at Village Inn in Altoona.

Very disappointed today with this place, its not hard to make pancakes and tgey brought my son burnt pancakes, he did want new ones because he said he would wait forever, so she brought him a carrot cake but the damn cake was frozen, i usally go to place but dont think i will anymore.

One reason we come here is the hash and they no longer have the plain original hash. Also we cant seem to get just a side of biscuits & gravy. It only comes with hash browns & they already come with every breakfast. Makes no sense. Will be going elsewhere from now on

We waited an hr to get our food people that came in after we ordered got their food before us then on top of that the mnger got snoody with us and our food was ICE COLD!! They will never see buisness from us again. I wouldnt even give a star if it had the option!!

Monday around 5 my family met up for dinner. There was a long wait to be seated but it wasnt busy. Three groups of people (3 to 5 per group) is not a dinner rush. There was a delay in our food and it was sub par at best. At least the kids and WiFi were free.

I am a regular. The servers and managers are friendly. The food and pies are good. The food selection is ok. It would be nice if the menu would change more, but I always eat the same thing. Always clean. A good place to sat and talk with friends.

Bad service and extremely long cooking times. Everyone who was seated after us received their food before we did even though we ordered before them and when we finally received our, food half of the orders were incorrect and had to be sent back.

Food was terrible. Meats were old and dry. Pork chop tasted "off". Salad was brown. Rehydrated potatoes were lumpy. Waitress was nice and the restaurant was family friendly.
