We have a child with food allergies of the carry-around-an-EpiPen level. Many restaurants now use hamburger buns with egg. We were happy find that The Local has vegan buns so were safe for him (no nuts either). Fries are fried in canola oil - not peanut (another of his allergies) oil. My other kids like the tenderloin. One of my sons decided to be adventurous and try the chicken gyro. He didnt like it. They immediately made it disappear and quickly replaced it with something he did like and comped the gyro. Handled perfectly. I enjoyed the Mushroom burger the first time I had it. The next time - not as much. The mustard flavor was overpowering. At $13 for the burger it should be consistently better. I decided to splurge for the Cajun fries for $0.75 extra. I would suggest passing on add-on. It looks like they gave it some healthy shakes with the Cajun seasoning shaker and called it a day. I guess I was expecting something a little more gourmet for the up-charge. The mac and cheese looks to be very popular from looking at the other tables. I had it as a side with my burger and can see why. It is very good. We were a bit dismayed with a song on the music playlist when we were there for Sunday lunch today. There are usually quite a few kids dining here and "Outkast - Roses" isnt really appropriate - and that song goes on forever! I think only my wife and teenager picked up on this but still. Arguably the restaurant may not pick the playlist but they are still ultimately responsible for what gets played. The Local gets very busy Friday nights. Be sure to make a reservation for popular evenings. Also be prepared to wait awhile for service during busy times. Sunday lunch was not busy at all and service was fine. All in all, we enjoy this restaurant. My perception is the food consistency is a bit hit-or-miss. It is just a bit overpriced but who can blame them if they are so popular at times? Worth a try.

The Local is by far my favorite restaurant in the area. My wife and I have a great time every single time we go. They have a restaurant area separate from the bar area. So we kind of pick a side depending on our mood. The restaurant side is quieter, while the bar side has tables and bar seating with TVs everywhere - its a great place to be for a football game. We were really just there for a couple of beers, but ordered the Hummas Plate because the couple next to us were chowing down on it. Thats something I would typically never order, but wow - delicious. Ive tried several plates, though 90% of time I order the lamb burger. Seriously, its amazing. With a side of cajun tots. And to top it off, a glass (or 3) of Wee Mac, which is a Sun King Scottish Ale. The first time we went, the bartender allowed us to sample a few beers and recommended different food items. She was extremely friendly, as is every other server thats ever waited on us. This is a great local place. We frequent as often as we can. Great food, awesome staff, and reasonably priced. Oh, did I mention the goat cheese cake?

I had the Lamb burger, medium as recommended by the server. Substituted out the fries for a small veggie chili and paired it with a Bells Kalamazoo Stout. My wife got the salmon and we split a basket of fries as an appetizer. Everything was very good. Lamb and chili perfect, Salmon crispy and flaked apart, as it should when its cooked properly. For those who know their local Indy beers, they have a small but fantastic selection of the best in Indiana + our neighbors to the north (Bells). The prices are a little on the high end, but for the quality of the food, its well worth it to me. The atmosphere is a little odd: Im not sure all of the TVs are necessary, and the enormous blackboard + having booths where half the people look directly away from it and half directly at it is a little awkward. Definitely one of my new favorite places to eat though, going back tonight.

I love this restaurant and have a great meal every time I go. The food is awesome -- last time I had homemade ravioi filled with wild mushrooms and house-made ricotta in a sage brown butter sauce, and it was one of the best things Ive ever eaten. Even their side salad is special, with roasted tomatoes, subtle feta cheese, and house-made viniagrette that includes granulated dried olives for a subtle, briney tang. The place is really family friendly and offers a diverse menu of comfort favorites and sandwiches with an often-changing list of specials worth a try. Everyone can find something they like to eat here, and they just might find its one of the best versions of that item theyve ever had. The Local rocks.

My honest opinion is that the menu is interesting with lots to try but I have only ever eaten two items there. The Bird on the Wire, and the Greek hummus plate. For the Greek plate, the Taziki sauce was slightly watered down and the sourcing of some of the produce was certainly not local right now. That was part of the taste, mostly processed. But it was a decent appetizer. One issue I had on my second most recent visit were the 5 fruit flies that interrupted my meal towards the end. For the higher end pricing, This venue should get a handle on the bugs in the air around a table such as the one I sat at. The service was average. Kona Grill down the street will wow you.

I am very conflicted about this place. Love the concept and the local offerings. Tastes are almost always amazing. Prices are a little high and portions sometimes a bit small for what you get. Servers were great. I had a couple of comments for the owners and tried two different ways to communicate with them and did not hear back. Now if you have a website, update it. If you even spent the money/time to have an App, update it. If you say you are local, communicate with your locals through the social media/websites you have. Otherwise it might seem like you dont really care. Which makes me not wanna go back maybe.....but it is tasty...

The name says it all. The food is always great. You can come and have a burger and fries or beef tongue philly cheese steak. The menu changes all the time and includes items kids would love. It you pick well, you can feed a family of four for around $30. If you pick more exotic meals and have some libations, you can spend $50 plus for two. My only complaint is that its very noisey. The open air space could really use some sound dampening. At the same time, not many would notice a screaming kid. If you enjoy some of the fast casual places around, you owe it to yourself to give The Local a shot.

Only reason it wasnt five star was the TERRIBLE service. Food was YUMMY and prices were really good, plus ambiance is nice. They also have nice gluten free options. We were there with a 4-top table after lunch and before dinner...We sat for an HOUR waiting to have our order taken then our food delivered. Tables that were seated well after us ate and paid before we got our food. Waitress purposefully seemed to avoid our table the entire time. Id try it again because everything else was so good, but they need to make sure service isnt that poor.
