Yesterday was my first visit. I was quite hungry but did not want any boring chain food. This brewpub was just what I was craving. First the food... The Beer Braised Brisket with Butternut Squash Risotto looked too good to pass up and my server J.R. said it was his favorite entree. Brussels sprouts were an unexpected but delicious complement to the brisket and risotto - a very hearty meal. As others have said, the fries are incredible. You get your choice of "rubs" and aioli. I chose the Rosemary/Sage/Basil rub with Chipotle aioli. As for the beer, J.R. and another server were glad to bring me tastes of several of their beers until I found the one that was right for me. The Irish was my favorite. It was dark enough to think it was a Red/Lager, but its actually a Pale Ale. The dark color comes from their unfiltered brewing process. This beer and all the others I tried here had an extremely fresh taste was refreshing. Several reviews have dumped on the decor. It is drab, but dark wood is a nice fit for a pub, plus there are lots of big windows in the dining area so it feels plenty inviting despite the decor. Thanks for the great service J.R. I look forward to my next visit!

Weve been regular visitors to the Black Swan since it opened 5 years ago and there is a reason we keep coming back. The staff are always welcoming and the food and beers are excellent, all made fresh on site. Dont expect a fast in and out meal, its a hopping little place and the food is prepared for you when you order so it may take a while, but its well worth it. The owners have put in a lot of effort decorating the place like a European pub, its not all bright lights, big tvs and modern American restaurant knick-knacks but wooden screens, bar mirrors and stained glass. The Black Swan beer selection rotates regularly and has a more varied range that anywhere else weve been. Dont just expect ice cold American style pale ales, but a full range of styles from all over the world including some fantastic Belgian brews. The food also rotates seasonally, its not a huge menu but every dish is something with at least a little twist. Well seasoned and often with subtle or more unusual flavor combinations. A great place for a relaxed meal and a couple of drinks, a true local brewpub.

Wow, were to start. Bartender wasnt very attentive. I had to get her attention to order food. Then flag her down again to get some mustard for my burger. Then flag her down again to get another drink. Flag her again for another napkin. Flag again to cash me out. Not once did she ask how my food was or if she could get me anything. Ninty nine percent of the time I leave a 20% tip or better. Not this time. Food, had the bacon wrapped jalapeños, which looked great, but ended up being bland and had no flavor. How do you get bacon to not have any flavor? I ordered a Pepper burger. Looked good and the roasted jalapeño, that I cut up and put on top of my burger, had a good kick to it. Burger came with a dab of Chipotle mayo.... no tomato, no lettuce, no onion, no nothing, just a burger with cheese and bacon slapped on a bun. The burger was not worth $12. Highlights of the place, the french fries were good. And the cream stout was pretty good. I wont be back. I will go down the street to Three Pints brewing company.

The Pepper Burger was very dry to me and bland especially shocking for $12. I know it doesnt come with it but tomatoes and lettuce would have made it much better. Also got habanero ketchup which was really good but fries needed salt. Condiments such as ketchup, napkins or even salt and pepper were not at any table. Ordered a beer sampler and some seem very watered down. I was pretty patient and even asked bartender if I should sit anywhere so she knew I was here. After 20 minutes I finally moved outside of the bar area and was ignored by two waitresses. I was almost ready to leave when a waitress brought me a menu. Waitress was nice but said it was her last day. Noticed other reviewers said service is poor but food was ok. Id say dont expect much from this place. Once you do get service it is just below average. They do support the military with a 10% discount on food items. Overall I hate to leave such a bad review but this place has the potential to be so much better and really cool.

The food was amazing, I ordered the Korean fried chicken sandwich with the truffle Parmesan fries and bacon aoili on side. The sandwich was great just wish it would have been a whole chicken breast instead of chicken tenders, because it kept falling apart. My wife had the grilled cheese and added bacon, which was dynamite and mom had the Rueben. The food was a 4 and 1/2 stars, but the service could have been better. We saw one server come in and looked hung over, then started rolling silverware without washing hands. The worst part he was playing with his hair and texting on phone, while rolling and touching the forks and spoons. My mom spoke to the manager, who then came over to shake my moms hand while eating and didnt really seem to care or even looked professional. Idk what kind of service and management they have running this place, but would go back for second chance because the food REALLY is AMAZING!!!!

Good service. The food would have been mediocre if it had been hot but my burger and poutine were room temperature. Also, who the heck makes poutine with cold chicken gravy!!?? Seriously, this could be a great place they just need to fire the kitchen manager...... Out of a cannon. I ordered a burger with Blue cheese, jalapeños and pickles. I got a cold burger with Blue cheese with two roasted whole jalapeños stuck to the top of the bun with a toothpick and pickles on the side. It was so weird I didnt know how to react until I realized everything was cold, and sent it all back. (The whole meal was so gross I told them not to bother fixing it.) The server was pretty gracious about the whole thing and comped the meal and a couple of beers, so that was something. Just to clarify, their beer is excellent. Its just the food that sucks. Really, really bad. Also the bathrooms are disgusting.

My boyfriend and I visited thanks to the Living Social coupon and were absolutely pleased with our experience. They have a huge variety of delicious beers on tap, all for much cheaper than other places (only $3.75 a pint, compared to $5.50 for a pint downtown). We loved the bratwurst and the Reuben can NOT be missed, it is SO delicious. We also could not get enough of their FRIES seriously BEST FRIES EVER. You can order them tossed in a seasoning then served with a dipping sauce, and the bacon aioli was to die for. Seriously. So good. Also, our server Lorraine was wonderful, delightful, attentive, cheerful, and prompt. Absolutely love this pub and cannot wait to go back. Totally worth the drive.
