I have just moved to the area and was looking for some good Chinese take-out. Ive lived in Plainfield all my life so Happy Dragon has been my goto place for close to 20 years. I knew about Dongs Buffet but was leery of ordering to go food from a buffet place, the quality seems to go down when its cooked in quantity for buffet eating. I wanted cooked-to-order fare. When trying out a new chinese place I have 2 test dishes that decide their fate in my eyes. General Tsos Chicken and the Crab Rangoon. I order the Deluxe Dinner and an order of Rangoon at 7:55. at 8:07 the super nice lady come out of the back carrying a box. Not a bag...a box to hold all the food! She asked if all this food was for me. Apparently I was unaware of their generous quantities. I was back in Heartland Crossing by 8:15. 20 min from ordering to home with my food....cooked to order. (except the soup and most likely the side of fried rice) The box she gave me originally held 12lbs of sausage in 1 lb rolls so you can get an idea of the size, and it was filled to the top with containers and bags and condiments and stuff.. I got 6 Rangoon (and contrary to the previous review there was crab meat in it) The deluxe dinner got me a HUGE styrofoam container of General Tsos chicken, so full the lid barely closed, no other fillers, just chicken and sauce. Then I got a fried shrimp, 2 chicken tenders and an eggroll as appetizers, plus a 16oz bowl of soup and a med size sack of the little crunchy noodles that go in the soup. For dipping I got a small little take out box full of sweet-sour sauce, and then a med take out box full of chicken fried rice. I will be returning to Hong Kong from now on. Very impressed, the bar is set pretty high for the competition.

For all these people saying the food is great, EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS! Seriously, there are so many other places that have better Chinese food than this. Ive tasted dirt better than Hong Kong Restaurants food. Its greasy, the rice is stale and loose when its supposed to be sticky, and the food always leaves a bad after taste. I had to drown the rice is soy sauce just to make it edible. Find another restaurant, hell, eat Taco Bell instead because this restaurant is certainly not worth the money youll pay to have to eat disappointment. Contrary to the one star I am forced to give, I would give this place a negative one star but that is not an option.

I ate here in January 2014. The other reviewers are correct: the food does taste extremely fresh. The staff was nice. The menu is quite large - there were several items on there that I had not seen before elsewhere. Note however that if you have vegetarians in your party, their selection will be limited to only 3 entrees (unless something can be arranged off-menu - I didnt ask). Thats more than at most restaurants, but fewer than at most Chinese restaurants, in my experience. None of the appetizers are vegetarian. If I happen to be in Mooresville again, I will definitely try this restaurant again.

A great shop to get inexpensive Chinese dishes in Mooresville. The menu can be overwhelming, but you can rest assured that all of them are fresh, hot, and delicious. You can order pretty much every dish as a lunch portion, even at night. The interior needs updated, but its also a great local family-run restaurant, so I cant complain. You can also order takeout if you call ahead.

This place is and always has been, the best chinese food. I agree with Kaleb below, the people who call this place anything but wonderful have been eating crappy buffet style chinese food too long. The owners are awesome, the food is a 10, and the service is always timely.

Nice staff but really bad food. My chicken was chewy and dry but it was soaking in sauce and the sauce was just waaaaaay too salty and no veggies, not one. I dont usually do bad reviews, but I made an exception. A real evening killer.

I have eaten here since it was off of SR 267, and have always received great service and delicious cuisine. Ive recommended this restaurant to several people, and will continue to do so. Hong Kong is my favorite restaurant of all time.

Im from mooresville so I maybe partial but this and Dongs are the best Chinese food youll find anywhere! The owners of Hong Kong are great! Sesame chicken is unique and delicious and they have the most amazing egg rolls-hands down!!!

Delicious!!! Best Chinese food I have ever eaten! I lived in Oklahoma for ten years and would get really mad because I would get these strong cravings for the Hong Kong but couldnt get it out there. Luckily Im back in Indy now :)
