I frequent Petes at least once a week, both by myself and with friends. Everything Ive ever had has tasted great and I highly recommend the chicken and waffles. Theyve just recently added arcade games and a pool table, which, I DO like shooting pool so that has been something my friends and I have taken advantage of. Im glad to see that this diner is still around since a lot of downtown Lafayette businesses seem to be struggling. The only reason I didnt give this place 5 stars is due to their prices and being occasionally bothered by homeless people when Im trying to eat. With this being a 24-hour joint, it definitely attracts some characters but the management does ask people to leave if theyre causing a scene or disrespecting the staff. The prices are also what I would consider expensive for typical diner fare, but Ive always enjoyed my meal so I keep coming back. Ive alao encountered several occasions where they are out of what I wanted to order (waffle maker was broken, ran out of chicken, etc.) But they always make good suggestions for substitution. Petes offers free wifi and I occasionally come with my laptop to sit and write and drink coffee and the staff doesnt hassle me about sitting around and not eating. Every waiter or waitress Ive ever had has been so nice and seems to enjoy their job.

I eat here all the time, unfortunately the last few trips have been disappointing. The food is not the same as it used to be. I would say it was mediocre at best! One of my favorite sandwiches here is the ruben. I ordered it last week and the corned beef looked like roast beef :-( Today I ordered the patty melt. There was so much grease that the bread was saturated and the burgers were fried, lets just say that "to a crisp" would be an understatement! I have been a loyal customer since the diner opened. I expect things to happen occasionally but this seems to be a new trend. If so I guess I will be ending my relationship with Petes

On my quest to find the best breakfast in town, I stopped at Petes Diner on a Saturday morning. I was their only customer when I arrived, so I was greeted and seated promptly. The dining area isnt anything spectacular, but it didnt feel rundown or dirty. The menu was comprehensive, but I had my mind made up from the start. I was going for the biscuits and gravy. I like some taste in my food, so I was pleasantly satisfied to find that they use hot sausage in their gravy. That meal deserved all five stars.

If youre looking for good, cheap food at any time of day, then youve come to the right place. The staff is friendly, the portions are generous, and the food is delicious. My personal favorite is the French Toast Sandwich, but Ive had a few of the omelettes and the chicken and waffles and havent been disappointed yet. Id also recommend the Petes potatoes and pie in a jar! Its also a decent place to study late at night Id you find yourself needing somewhere open all night with unlimited coffee refills!

Over rated and self important. Because its the only 24 hour place for downtown locals, you get a half arsed effort at what could be a local gold mine. We had a French fry craving at 2 am and received 4 slices of an attempt at an order of to-go fries, with a no apologies straight face... next time, well head across the bridge just a few blocks further and get our $2 worth and feel less guilty for not supporting local at McDonalds... better safe then way sorry

It was an unexpectedly nice place to visit. The decor isnt much, but the food is consistent. The waitress suggested the Ruben sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was just OK. I was there on another visit and had an omelette that I was pleased with. The one thing I would suggest you try would be their fries. They are a cross between steak fries and curly fries, beer battered, and definitely delicious.

Susan & Sydney rocked Our World. They were very attentive, fun, friendly and fantastic. They were even able to do a special order for my dairy-free daughter! The cook even Came out check to make sure everything was perfect! And open 24hrs! Definitely our meet up location for all our Milwaukee to Indianapolis road trips!

One of the very few 24 food spots in the area. Great atmosphere, very friendly service, and solid assortment of breakfast and more! Great place to drop in at 2am or 2pm for an omelet or pie in a jar. The waffles and chicken is a thing to try at least once. Best Steak n Shake alternative Lafayette has.

Food was good, and wait staff was friendly. Id eat here again. I had the poutine skillet, and it was pretty good. I hear the chicken and waffles are great. I wouldnt get the poutine again. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt what I was expecting. My daughter had pancakes, eggs, and bacon, which was very good.

Its the 4th of July. Not many people downtown right now. But our waitress is super friendly and knew the answers for questions we had pertaining to items not on the menu. I love Petes anyway. Food is always delicious and portions are big. Great bang for the buck in a family friendly atmosphere.

I stopped in before class to eat and I was pleasantly surprised. The Scottish waitress was sweet and friendly. I ordered a Patty Melt on rye with cottage cheese. Everything was perfect: the sandwich was cooked to perfection and cut perfectly. The cottage cheese was fresh and plentiful.

Ordered an Irish Reuben omelette, waited for 1 hr, was told by the server that she was sorry for the long wait but it will be out soon. I dont know how long it takes to make an omelette but it is not one hour. I got up and left. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Great spot in downtown. We were taken by a local we were visiting and it did not disappoint. All four of our breakfasts were excellent and the service was as friendly as it comes. Any place that has chicken and waffles that good 24hrs a day should get 6 stars!

Petes Diner is a classic old-time diner, tweaked to give it a modern update. The food is hearty, the portions are generous, and the pie-in-a-jar is wonderfully satisfying. Theyre open 24 hours so its a great place to go at any time of the day or night.

Surprisingly great food, decent vegetarian options, good service, haphazard but somehow appealing decor. We loved the garlic fried mushrooms & French toast sandwich (on cinnamon bread, subbed in vegetarian sausage). Will be back for fried pickles.

The waitress was really sweet and helpful- the food was pretty good, but I didnt like the toast. I think they stick it on the griddle instead of toasting it which gave a funky flavor. Manager was kind and all the staff seemed to work together.

It never matters if I show up at 2am or noon the food is always tasty and well prepared. The servers are always nice and prompt. The prices are very fair and the coffee is excellent. This is my go-to place when a waffles craving hits.
