I live very close to the Pied Piper, but I rarely go there. Even though their burger is quite good, their service is almost universally terrible. Also, for whatever reason they dont serve onion rings as a side item, you have to order a basket for $6. My girlfriend doesnt care for onion rings so until my father came down for a visit this past weekend I hadnt had an occasion to actually order them. We both love onion rings, so I took that as an excuse to try them. So we went to Pied Piper, ordered our burgers, ordered salads as a side, and a basket of onion rings to share. The onion rings came out, the burgers came (had to ask for mayo and mustard twice, burger was cold by the time it got there 15 minutes later), yet still no salad. Finally got the salad when we got the mayo and mustard for the burgers. And then it took a good 20 minutes to pay the check. All told we were in there over an hour and a half, and they just werent that busy. And more on the onion rings: they tasted like they had dumped a packet of hidden valley ranch into the batter. They also served them with a side of ranch dressing. Not my cup o tea, though I suppose some may be into that. At least the fries are good, for what its worth. As far as breakfast, the omelets are great, but they dont have biscuits (at least when Ive asked for them, even on weekends). Also, they dont even open until way too late (9:00 I think) for me to swing by on my way to work and grab a quick breakfast, even though it would be wise to avoid it regardless because their service would likely make me late for work. So anyway, as much as Im complaining about this place, I still go there occasionally because the burger is really that good (and its convenient to my house). Just dont go there if youre in a hurry, and dont get "fancy" with your ordering, make sure to ask for your condiments up front when the waiter is writing the ticket, and dont be afraid to wander around and snag ketchup off of the next table if yours is missing (as there is a good chance it will be). Dont ask the wait staff for ANYTHING because they WILL forget, dont order a salad because its up to the waiter to prepare it, and pay with cash if possible because they take AGES to run cards when theyre even slightly busy.

First time Ive EVER not left a tip. Our waitress sat us after about an hour wait (which was expected on weekends) but then she disappeared. We had to ask for our menus about 20 minutes after being seated. Then had to ask for her to take our order after about 15 more minutes. Food finally arrived. My daughter ordered a patty melt on rye. The rye bread wasnt toasted but burned (were generally pretty laid back about "over toasted"...this was burnt). My wifes BLT consisted of unripened green tomatoes, over cooked bacon, and mushy bread. After finally delivering our food our waitress or anyone for that matter came by to ask if we needed anything or how the food was. Had to ask for refills. The sub-par food could have been looked past as we were hungry. The worst part was the waitress attitude and complete lack of service. As stated it is the first time Ive EVER not left a tip. It really was a terrible food and service experience.

Im from out of town and came to eat here on 5/8/16 and let me say this I would never recommend this restaurant. We waited 55 minutes for simple breakfast food. When my food arrived at my table it was ICE COLD. When I asked to speak to the manager my sever told me he was, this man was incredibly rude, sucked his teeth numerous of times , walked away before I could even tell that the rest of the food on my table was cold. When he returned I was given such a attitude from him. He actually raised his voice to me and said what would you like to do , and I said a simply sorry would be nice. I run a very successful restaurant where I live and I would never ever treat a customer like that. The wait staff was horrible.

Pros: -Large Menu -The food was GREAT. I had the Monte Cristo and she had the Chicken Fingers and we opened with Chili Cheese fries. -Small, quaint. Great decor. Music wasnt too loud. Cons: -Small parking lot -Not in the best part of town -Like others have said, the service is a bit...unaccommodating, but we still got our food in a timely manner. Plus the food was good enough to wait. Ive definitely waited longer for less/worse food. Definitely recommend. Looking forward to going back and trying something else.

Immediate, friendly service. Loved seeing the New Kids on the block in the bathroom. Interesting but not deafening music. They have about 15 tables and a decent crowd for Wednesday lunch. Food... Delicious. The men close to me had burgers and fries that they gobbled. I had Jerry Garcia Fritos pie made to order. Delicious made from scratch chili. Hit the spot! Chess pie was yummy, not too sweet, homemade. I came here by myself (62 yr old grandma) and was completely comfortable.

The service here is terrible. Went to pick up my to-go order which was ready about 15 minutes after I was told it would be. Once I received my order, I was told that the side salads still had to be made. Waiting about 10 more minutes before asking about the side salads (thought they must have forgotten). I was told by their staff that the customer’s dinner in had the priority. Their food isn’t good enough to make up for the terrible service. I will never eat here again.

This is my favorite restaurant in Nashville. The wait staff is super friendly and personable, the menu is awesome (try the fried chicken! Its the best in town!), and they have super tasty desserts that change every day. Keep in mind that this is not a super fancy restaurant, its very casual and laid-back; diner style. I love to come here for breakfast especially. My two favorite menu items are the Achy-breaky-hearty breakfast and the LaGrange burger.

Restaurant has approx. 10 tables that allow seating. 2 of us went at a low traffic time, Sat at around 11:45. It took us 50 minutes to get food and we both had cold meals. One ordered a salad and the other ordered a club sandwich. The food was not fantastic and while sitting there people were having to sit at dirty tables because the servers took so long to clean them. Definitely will not make the special trip to East Nashville to eat there again!

How do these places stay in business? Minimal to No Parking ! We waited out front across the street for a parking space to come open while we watched people that appeared to be employees come out and get in their car to have a smoke and then go back inside. The Monty Cristo tasted like French fry grease. The Burger appeared grey, undercooked. Bleh... $25 for the same quality as a fast food joint.

I ordered the omelette with everything on it; BRUH. It was as enormous as it was delicious. I would say this is my favorite East Nashville breakfast place. If I have one criticism it is that the coffee I had was weak; I wish theyd team up with a local coffee company and offer their coffee with real cream or an organic half & half. Other than that; theyve impressed this east side snob :)
