Good place for a hot dog and a root beer float but not much else. If you expect service and attention to detail, like remembering to bring you napkins and utensils without being asked, you may be disappointed, the teen wait staff is inconsistent. Stick to simple stuff like dogs and burgers; the fried chicken was terrible. The place is old and beat up so if youre looking for a new, clean, modern-looking place this is not it. Its awkward pulling out of a space, be careful of cars pulling in behind you. Juke box is much too loud, even if they do have Creedence.

If I could do negative I would spent $3.50 + for a ice cream that was less then a cup measure had people smoking right next to us asked the staff to have them stop was ignored had to leave because my child should not have to be around smoke at a place u eat ..... Even if it was outside its still a eatery never again do not waste ur money or time

This is a hot dog and root beer joint. It hires local high school kids to teach them the value of work. If youre a prick and too high class for the world, dont go here. This is an amazing local joint that us locals adore. Great cole slaw, amazing banana shake, and they even have veggie options, unlike much of Chesterton.

The place needs updating to keep up with the times. The staff was friendly. The food was what you should expect from a place that has been around for 50 years. I can only say that you dont know until you know. Thank you for the over priced meal! This fast food joint is playing "THE PORT" of a restaurant.

This is an old fashioned drive in. Its fast food, nothing fancy, but the root beer is good and its a fun place to stop before/after hitting the dunes. If something is not right just say so and they will make it right. The have vege burgers which I especially appreciate.

The idea of car hops but, the past 2 times we stopped in there to eat we were given menus and left to figure out what we wanted but, no one came back. Waited like 20 minutes and finally left our menus on the ground and drove off.

The Port offers a tasty time travel experience. Authentic 50s-60s-style food and root beer. Classic car hop service or eat inside. Or on a picnic table. It is just as it was 50 years ago. In the good way!

There website says they close at 9:00pm and at 8:05 we were told you cant order food we are going to close soon only icecream and shakes thats ridiculous I drive 14 miles to eat there and get told that.
