...thats IF onedoesnt mind the dining yappers who plow in for their eight b4 eight specials( and who COULD CARE LESS bout whats happpening on stage! My husband and I have been there for several shows-it can get real obnoxious trying to hear whats being played (esp the quiet passages) with all this nonsensical cacophony going on! Quite sure its rather annoying to the musicians who are playing their instruments too! It amazing how people can be so thoughtless and ignorant when it comes to appreciating music-let alone jazz music!! Not against patrons who want to be served their meals-but there should be a cut off time, like say 9 oclock. Then the live music should start then. Yes there are some folks who WANT to hear whats going on stagewise, not some boistrious in the back conversation that could be HEARD loud and clearly up front competing with the music! (Really A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G are those inane Phyllis Diller like gaffaws-ugh!) Oh we will still go to the Jazz Kitchen, but WILL come much later after those early birds have picked up their tails and gone home to bed! (Yep 5 AM rolls around early for their JOBS JOBS JOBS!!)

Our rehearsal dinner and wedding were catered by the Jazz Kitchen. Our rehearsal dinner was in their adorable event room in the back of their dinner theater. We had a medley of small plate options and all were raved over by our guests! Furthermore, being able to open the doors and a large window opening to have the ambience of a live jazz band playing in the front of the theater made the environment surreal and simply an incredible experience for our guests and us! As for the wedding at the Indianapolis Art Center, the Jazz Kitchens food and service was impeccable! Every conversation we had with guests led to the same responses, "the best...!" or "one of the best...!" meals and service theyd ever experienced at an event. Luann, the crew, and the food made all of our guests and us feel like royalty! We, with excitation, recommend the Jazz Kitchen to cater your event!

The jazz kitchen could be a great place but like so many other night clubs these days, the self centered DJ has taken over the scene by playing the music at such a deafening sound level that it is exhausting, if not impossible, to have a social interaction with others in the venue. Im still looking for a night club that people actually can mingle and socialize without having to shout in each others ears, or repeatedly say "huh!?!, "whatd you say?!" or nod ones head and pretend that you understood what the other person said, meanwhile they get offended that you didnt laugh at their joke. That sort of thing. And on top of it, you really get a good whiff of exactly what everybodys breath smells like when they are yelling in your face, and this is not conducive to romance either.

We went to the Jazz Kitchen to celebrate several friends birthdays. It had been many years since wed gone. Love the place. We were looking forward to it. Service was good. Music was great. But we were told we were not allowed to talk--at all. We were also told that people were leaving because we talked. There were signs on every table. Since rules are rules, we paid and left. The two tables next to us had people talking, too. They were told the same thing. They also left. Too bad. I didnt realize you cant talk in a jazz/music club anymore. We do jazz in Chicago and have never had that type of experience. We wont return any time soon.

We used the Jazz Kitchen for our rehearsal dinner site. LuAnn, our coordinator, was SO helpful in making the whole dinner happen. I would absolutely recommend the restaurant for any event for which you want good food with a unique vibe! They have a large side room we were in for a bit more privacy but could still hear the awesome music from the main room. Service was great and, again, the food was delicious (especially the Cajun pasta and the bread pudding)!!

What is there to say about the Jazz Kitchen that hasnt already been said? Great food (if a bit on the expensive side), good drinks with reasonable prices, and over the years theyve kept up their status as one of the premier jazz clubs in the Midwest (if not the entire country). If you want to experience high quality jazz music in an intimate atmosphere (energetic though respectful, appreciative but not rambunctious) , this is the spot. Great for dates!

I was turned away from a show two days before my 21st birthday. It may come as a surprise, but there are plenty of young people who are passionate about jazz, and those people are the future of this music. If this establishment actually cares more about the music than their alcohol sales, they should make the necessary changes so that all ages can attend.

The more I go here, the more I like this area. Which is weird, because it feels like a world unto itself -- nestled in this neighborhood is a jazz club with a great atmosphere, great sound and, perhaps most surprisingly, great food. As in, you could come here even on a night when nobodys playing music. But Im not sure that ever actually happens!

Every artist weve heard there loves the crowd as everyone is close to the musicians & is enthusiastic. The musicians always respond with great performances- so even big names enjoy playing there in what is relatively a small venue. If you go once, I think you will return. Thanks, Jazz Kitchen. BTW, the food is also very good.

This place is must! Cant believe I have lived in Indy for four years and never knew about this place, went on Saturday after Valentines day. The food was amazing, the service just as good! I loved the atmosphere, the ambience that this place creates. Please check this out, even if its once. I was skeptical, but Im glad I went!

I love the food here but today for $20 for the Brazilian Carnaval NEVER the seating area for everyone is all over your table with no respect of other people space dont even asked if their in the way. This is very unsafe no where to move or get out if theres a fire. I want my $20 back!!!!!!!

On of the few remaining venues that exist where you can get a great show any night of the week. The food is great and there is no pretentiousness here. Everybody is family. This place is so deeply rooted in the community, when youre there, you feel like you are part of something.

Poor service. Multiple things contributed to this, but it should be noted that the service is just generally poor. The food is at best mediocre, making the experience I had here... less than "tasteful". Notes: Before you go to a place like this, research parking options.

Great jazz venue! Just happened to stumble across this place while visiting Indy and Im so glad I did! Amazing musicians and very reasonable cover fees. Friendly people and great vibes. A lot of good options around too if you want a bite to eat before or after a show.

Very nice! Came to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. The staff are courteous, the food is great and the drinks are not watered down! I am thoroughly satisfied. Also, I ordered steak and it was just right and not dry or chewy!!! Send my complements to the chef!
