Upping my Brunch Game to the next level. No traditional pancakes, eggs or bacon here. Open Society has the feel of Milktooth, yet less crowded and far friendlier + a Latin twist. Their drink menu is spectacular- unique brunch Cocktails, creative house Lattes, plus Tinker Coffee Co brews. It would be a shame to just order water! I was a tad nervous glancing through the brunch menu the first time, its an array of Spanish titles and ornate culinary ingredients, I wasnt sure what to pick! Most options were lunch items (brisket sandwiches, filets, etc) with a breakfast twist. I started with the Arbol Mule- A Latte with Ginger and Chile spices, It was a little smaller in size then their most popular Cafe Miel, but it sure packed a punch, not overly spicy, but a little dense in flavor for an everyday drink. It paired wonderfully with the mild heat of my Huevos Y Frijoles. A breakfast reminiscent of my time in Honduras. A price tag of 11.50 (9+1.50 for Avocado) was perfectly in portion with the quantity and quality. With a large party of Yelpers we got seated right away around 10am on a Saturday and their ipad/register was perfect for splitting the check and paying separately I am normally not a scone/pastry person, but paired with one of their lattes and I can see myself sipping away and enjoying the Open Society ambiance on a regular basis.

Three things contribute to whether or not an establishment is worth anyones time: quality of offerings, service, and reasonable pricing, and you need at least two out of the three. Open Society only has one, and even thats bested significantly by other offerings in the area. I was holding off on actually reviewing this place to see if things actually improved because I want to like this place a lot; its cute and they have a nice menu. The service is just that bad. Ive gone five or six times and all of those times Ive waited more than 10 minutes to even have a server acknowledge that were there, its taken forever to get our drinks, and the food is always late and someones dish is always wrong. Literally. Every time Ive gone theyve brought out the wrong dish for at least one of us, one time all of us. I understand that things can be confusing for servers sometimes when busy or new, but none of these instances were at traditional rush hour times - quite the opposite, actually. Seriously a shame because the food and cocktails are decent quality. Also overpriced for what it is - a subpar execution of a slightly more polished hipster gastropub.

Terrible service. We sat at the front bar and were ignored for 15 minutes (after the host told us we could be served drinks while we wait for a table.) We then moved to the back, got seats at the bar, then waited for 30 minutes for our drinks to show. Finally at our table, our waitress seemed distracted and not knowledgable about the food. We asked questions and she replied, that she didnt know and would ask the chef. Everything seemed confusing to her. The steak on the menu is priced by the ounce. It is listed with all the other menu items. When the bill came we discovered wed paid $104 for one steak that two of us shared. A steak with a gigantic bone in it. Their menu/art designer should place this item in its own special box on the menu.Small dirty plates were left throughout the meal and never cleared. napkins and silverware had to be requested after the food arrived. Abysmal!! Staff needs to take a restaurant staff course!

What a great addition to Indys coffee and cocktail scene. The space is simply amazing with a great combination of wood, leather, tile, and glass. Seating is well spaced out and comfortable. My favorite spot is at the coffee bar. Drink options are abundant, both coffee and adult beverages. So far I have only had coffee but in a variety of preparations, each being excellent. Coffee include local greats from Tinker Coffee, as well as MadCap which is out of Michigan. Kombucha is on tap and is probably some of the best I have had. Food options are available during the day but limited to pastries at the moment. Dinner options start at 5pm which I fully plan on visiting very soon. Service and hospitality has been great so far. They seem very well staffed with friendly baristas and servers. If you havent been yet, plan on making a visit.

I had drinks here earlier in the week and couldnt wait to come back for dinner. We had the following: ANTICHUCO DE PULPO Octopus, yam mash, toasted garlic, olive/serrano emulsion CROQUETTAS Lump crab, micro greens, radish sprout & cremoso RISOLES Chickpeas, queso fresca, artichoke, scallion, garlic, lime aioli All three dishes were terrific. Oddly enough, portion sizes mostly came in 3s. Id much prefer an additional portion be included at this price point, but its so delicious I cant complain too much. The excellent waitress recommended this drink: RIO GRANDE CAIPIRINHA Strawberry Shrub, Cilantro, Lime, Cachaca, Salt & Pepper It was amazing and my new favorite cocktail. Its kind of like a strawberry bloody mary and its incredible. I cant wait to go back!

Food is excellent. Service is not so much, the waitress is either a huge KimK fan or was in complete agony being forced to wait on people. We had a large party and we wer fine with waiting to be seated when we all arrived, but they decided to pick a table that was too small in hopes that the table next to us would be leaving soon. That table did not, 20 minutes later they asked the people at the table next to us to move down a table. Had they just waited till we were all there, a table big enough had opened up and 2 parties would not have been inconvenienced. Coffee is pretty expensive for it being your atandard black coffee too.

Very poor experience. Service was slow. Sat at the bar and then moved to a table. Bartender and waitress were slow. Waitress had limited knowledge of the menu. The veggie dish turned out to be a soup though neither the menu nor waitress described it as such. The chuleta steak was good though overpriced. The price on the menu was confusing and not clarified by staff. When i reported my experience to the manager, he was unapologetic and no help. Overall, a surprisingly poor experience. I will not return and dont recommend Open Society.

The service was the downfall of this cute hipster bar. We were sitting for 10 minutes before we were seen by a server for water. We ordered food and when it came out, we still didnt have silverware. This didnt impact me personally because they brought me the wrong dish entirely. The atmosphere was nice, and the food was good once it finally arrived. For the price though, it would have been nice to have quality service.

The coffee was good, and for good coffee I am willing to wait. But 12+ minutes just for a coffee, thats a bit much when you have somewhere to be. Not to mention that it ran over $5 with an espresso shot in it. I think Ill stick with Hubbard and Cravens, they do it equally well for $2 less in 5 minutes at most. If you have the time and money, its worth a try, but I wasnt impressed. More hipster than craftsman.

delicious coffee creations, especially the Cafe Miel! ambiance and decor is great! Have tried the Bistec, Crab Croquettes, Frittata and Torta- all delicious and artfully crafted. The Frittata is served like an omelette, thought it could use a sauce of some sort. Torta is not a traditional torta, more like a corn cake served on a larger salad. Potatoes and Hollandaise are amazing together!
