The majority of the time I have been to Kountry Kitchen the food has been good, which is why I go back but this last time was the last straw because the service here sucks. I placed a to go order and I waited outside the restaurant for about an hour because it always takes them a long time to prepare the food, and I wanted to give them ample time. When I went inside, my food still wasnt ready and the lady said "we dont make the food until youre here to pick it up." Well it would have been nice to know that over the phone so I wouldnt have sat outside for an hour! As I was inside waiting, I watched this one particular employee begin to make every order except for mine, then when another employee asked her about it she said "its going in order", and this was 20 minutes later! I waited for the food, and when I got outside I called the manager and he said he was going to have a meeting and he offered me a free dinner. I appreciated the gesture but it would be better if you work to improve the service here. Last time an employee was swinging and slamming my food around because she was upset with a co-worker. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone, the service is aboslutely abysmal. Im paying for good service and good food, not attitudes and wasted time.

I thought Id give this place another try since my past experience some time ago was not so great. I ordered through Orderup to get my items delivered to me. My driver clocked the time when she arrived to pick up my food. She let me know she was seriously delayed in getting my order to me because my online order was sitting there some 30 minutes after I ordered it and not filled. I received a phone call from Kountry Kitchen around 8:55pm ( they close at 9) to let me know they could only provide a partial order on one of my requests and that they would send a pork chops instead which I said ok, wondering if I had a choice. When my food finally arrived 90 minutes after I ordered it I had a mixed reaction. I did not get what I ordered. I received baked chicken instead of the fried I ordered, corn bread instead of the fried bread I ordered and a pork chop smothered in gravy which I definitely dont eat. I could not believe I paid nearly $30 plus tips for this. I will say that the small portions of greens, sweet potatoes, and cabbage were great as were the fried chicken wings I did receive. I am not a celebrity in the usual sense but I do have serious connections so I will say at this point, no more Kountry Kitchen again for me, for a LONG time!!!!

My wife and I was looking for a Sunday supper that we are accustom to in North Carolina. "Soul Food Sunday" We were pleasantly pleased to find Kountry Kitchens website and was sold by the menu and the celebrities that had tried their food. The building and neighborhood was not what we were expecting. We felt as if we were in someones basement. The wait staff the we had "Q" was friendly and made some very helpful recommendations (The Black version of the Arnold Palmer). The food was good. The only thing we had that left a lasting impression on us were those "DELICIOUS" fried green tomatoes. They served it with a remoulade sauce that was nothing more than the Blooming onion sauce that you get at steakhouses or the Onion Ring sauce at BK. I would definitely come back when visiting Indy.

Toe curling, lip smacking, slap somebody (just not the police officer thats there) good food! I came on a cold and rainy January night after work. Tired and hungry a native Indy friend of mine recommend this place for me to stop by. This was the PERFECT choice. I came near closing but was allowed to sit down and eat. I got the choose two meats and selected the smothered pork chop and meatloaf with greens, fried green tomatoes and fried cornbread with a side of Mac and cheese. This is the meaning of comfort! I had to catch my feet from dancing under the table and my shoulders from doing the shimmy! I am from South Carolina and used to southern food and this just made me feel like I was at home. Look forward to my next trip to Indy to come back here!

Where is the soul? Having read the reviews, this was a top spot for me, especially since they have banana pudding. I havent had a decent version of this lovely dessert since spending some time in the south on a job. We ordered a good mix of fried chicken, sides, cornbread, and of course the pudding. I hate to say that all items really let us down. The chicken really lacked a crispiness and was pretty greasy. The sides were OK but thats not really a compliment. The cornbread was a dense, dry, yet greasy brick. Sadly, even though I was excited for the pudding, I still having had a decent version as of yet. Perhaps this was an off day but I doubt I will return to determine if that were true.

I was in the mood for some soul food so me and the girl decided to check this place out. We were greeted and told we could seat wherever wed like. After we got seated it took longer then I would deem necessary to greet us. I could understand if they were busy and we had to wait but there was only us and one other table. So we ordered our food and no longer did it take for her to walk to the back she was walking back with our food. Too quick I thought but I was quite hungry and ready to eat. The sides were warm as well as my fried chicken but her cubed steak was cold not even lukewarm. All and all Ill have to try another place to get my southern cooking fix.

The worst experience I have had in quite some time at a restaurant. The waiter thought he was a comedian and was not the least bit funny. So let me give you an example of why I will NEVER visit this establishment again as long as I live in Indy. If you order a soda with no ice they charge you extra. They dont care about you they just want your money. My wife ordered I think it was fried bread of some sort, the waiter put it on the wrong table then had the nerve to go and get it and try to place it on our table. I was swatting knats and flies most of the time I was there, thank God my job called me in. Just stay away. IF I COULD GIVE 0 I WOULD.

Employees are very rude. I made an order online got a email my order will be ready for pick up at 6:17p.m. i waited a couple minutes before i arrived at restaurant. I get there never did anyone ask me did i need help. I see my order ticket just sitting there still i dont ask have you been helped not to mention its employees standing around. When I do get asked have I been helped comes to find out i still have wait cause my order was not ready.smh food isnt all that great to get the poor service that this establishment offers. Ill never waste my time with them again. I rather give my money to a fast food restaurant 1st
