We had the misfortune of walking into this place today because we wanted margaritas with our lunch. My gf had a good experience over a year ago, but not so today. The waiter was initialy good, food was ok - her meal was better than mine, the drink was terrible and the resulting service was noon,existent.. I ordered the classic chimichanga, one shredded beef one chicken. I received a ground beef and chicken instead. The chicken was ok the beef was quite bland. We ordered a pitcher of blended (not on the rocks) margaritas in mango flavor. We wanted a mango/peach combo but was told we couldnt, even though the last time she was here she got a strawberry/banana one. When the pitcher arrived, we used the provided ladle to put into our glasses. First sip and it tasted VERY watered down. Thinking maybe it was just the top of the pitcher, used the ladle to mix up the remaining half and tasted it again. No better. After two sips each, we brought this to the servers attention and his comments were that they use a specific amount of the flavoring in each when they are made and alcohol cannot be returned. Neither addressed our complaint directly and no apology was made. Instead of making a scene, we decided to just see if a manager was avail when we went up front to pay. Of course, there was no manager today (Sunday) so we just paid the full bill and did not leave a tip. This is something Ive only done once before in my life (Im in my 50s). I would NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant at all and will never return.

Worst Mexican food I have ever had, and this is accounting for the fact that I knew it would be Americanized Mexican food. No. Just... NO. Everything was too salty, and I have no idea what kind of mystery ground meat that was, but it was awful. The chiles rellenos have NO POBLANOS. I dont even know what to say about that. The dish was a pile of ground meat covered with white cheese. No chile at all. On top of that, the manager ARGUED with me when I wanted to exchange it for something else (which I was entirely willing to pay for, I didnt ask for a refund or anything). He said I already ate some of it. I took one bite and then hunted for the chile. He told me thats how they serve it there, which is absurd. Unfortunately for him, I have a Mexican boyfriend and am well-accustomed to fantastic authentic Mexican food, and this is not it. Will never go back, if not for the food, then because of the treatment by the manager. Our female server was great, though.

Were on our second time living in Beech Grove and remembered fondly El Puerto being our favorite local restarant. Its changed a lot in the 5 years weve been away. Todays meal was the same selections we always get. She gets the Vegetarian C and I get the lunch Chimichanga (chicken). Today was our 2nd attempt after giving it another chance and it was just gross this afternoon. The bean dip cheese was watery as in couldnt coat a chip! There was an eigth of an inch of water in my container from the soggy lettuce, the guac was waaaaay too spicy and lacked the chunky goodness of traditional guacamole. If the Chimi hadnt been swimming in lettuce water, it might have been good but was ruined instead. They didnt put the guac on the side for her and the prices have gone up! $25.00 for 2 lunches and large bean dip, including tip. We agreed that today was our last visit and well look for another Mexican restaurant.

I am a customer who eats there a few times a month because I work in the area. This visit has to be the worse experience. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Nachos, there was very little chicken on the nachos then I found hair after eating half the portion. Instead of making a fresh order he offered half a refund. Very upsetting.. he stated there was no manager on a Friday & would be in tomorrow. Not a pleasant visit or service.

Stopped by on a road trip back to St. Louis and asked for take out, which they readily accommodated. Quickly prepared and very yummy. Absolutely delicious flautas and tamales. Enchiladas were very good too. Guac needs some help (very bland) but all else was worth the stop. Thank you!

If I had only one place to eat for the rest of my life, it would be here. Always consistent, courteous, and fast. Not gourmet so dont expect it. Just good food...Always. Also, cinco de mayo... Line out the door. Seated within 20min. Food within 20 min. Very seasoned staff!

The chips were cold and stale, the salsa was more like thin ketchup with a few onions in it. The queso Blanco was thin and flavorless, and the entrees, well, they were hot, thats about all I can say. The service wasnt bad, but even that cant save from bad food.

Been Going Here On Lunch Occasionally For About 2 Years. Literally The Best Customer Service, They Make Sure You Are Taken Care Of. Service Is Quick And To The Point. Best In Town. Hands Down. It Tops Surrounding Restaurants.

Atmosphere was alright, but the food wasnt anything special especially for the prices and the margaritas tasted like barely flavored water with food coloring. We wont be returning anytime soon.

Went to El Puerto. Service is pretty good but food was just ordinary, nothing special. Have had better Mexican food elsewhere. And btw, this places food is NOT authentic, pretty americanized.
